With all due respect to coach Sizemore, Bracken County didn't beat all of their district competitors last season, and their road ended in the first round of the playoffs. Sizemore's teams at Bracken have gone 5-6, 2-9, 0-11, 3-8, and 8-3. No offense, but the "Mount Rushmore" claim is one hell of a stretch. I need more than one winning season out of five to be convinced that there was anything more here than a brief uptick in the talent level on the Bracken County football team.

Are we really drawing comparisons between Kentucky high school football and NCAA division 1 football? That's a hell of a stretch. As for the thread title, I agree with the others who have said the word downfall is a bit much. Downfall generally denotes a degree of finality. Let's not act like Highlands is down and will never be back again. Every team has their own worst record, just like every team has their best record. If I'm not mistaken, CCH went from winning 5 state championships in the course of 10 years, and then 5 years later went 3-8 in 2003 and capped off the season with a loss to East Jessamine in the first round of the playoffs. Had they suffered their downfall? No, they won a state championship 3 seasons later. My point being, Highlands is down, not downfallen. They'll be back.

Ohhhhhhhh, I see. So CCH has a head coach who spends 6 seasons at the helm, has a 65% winning average and never manages to get out of region in the playoffs. Meanwhile, he has been going out and applying for every open head coaching job on the market, and when CCH decides to let him go, he gets "a bad deal". On the other hand, when Highlands' head coach spends 4 years on the job, posts a 70% winning record and gets one regional win in the playoffs, Highlands cans him. BUT, there's just no justifying the comparison of his firing to what happened at CCH with Wirth because, well, Highlands is Highlands. Geeze...and Highlands fans act like they don't understand why no one around the state can stand them. SMH.

Interesting development. I know when he left Manual he said he was planning to keep coaching around Kentucky...this will be an interesting job for him to take seeing as how much re-building is required at GRC.

31 total penalties in the game. 17 were T's and 14 were L's. There were 3 unsportsmanlike calls against T. There were 6 unsportsmanlike calls against L. I think L more than made up for T's abundance of offsides and holding penalties with their own unsportsmanlike conduct penalties.

I think Bowling Green will at very least win by two touchdowns. Maybe even three touchdowns.

I would give address of 8815 Fern Dale Rd 40291. That is for Fern Creek Elementary. The field is just beyond the elementary school. Can enter there if early to park near field or in front of the elementary school. If that fills up enter at Fern Creek High 9115 Fern Creek Rd and there is a large student lot, as well as some smaller lots on each side of the school. Should be plenty of parking but late arrivals will have to park up near the high school and hike down past the elementary school to the field. Thank you both.

Who is over confident? Is it CCH's football team, is it a small handful of their parents who have mouths a little too big for their own good? I can think of a school whose name starts with an H who has an awful lot of parents with the same problem. Doss ain't gonna win this one. CCH won't have a running clock, but Doss' season is going to end on Friday.

Ryle has their shot at Simon in October. Until then or until Simon gets beaten by someone, SK is #1. Conner played SK to a closer game than Cooper. Its a bad year for Highlands as far as their own standard is concerned and Campbell caught them on a particularly bad night. If Highlands and Campbell played 5 times this season, Highlands wins at least 3 out of 5, probably 4. When I played varsity we had full pads/full speed practice, even when the JV was off doing their thing. I realize it was some years ago, but is that not the norm nowdays, or was my team the exception in practicing full-go while JV was playing?
