Wow - no love lost for Murray. Sounds like a good story or two might be wrapped up in there somewhere....

Looking forward to another 6-A challenge from North Hardin this week. I have read some posts minimizing North's wins, but they are a one-loss team that (I believe) lost that one game without the services of their extremely talented QB. That being said, this would be an opportunity for them to make a real statement.

My two cents on the game....Mayfield was dominant in the first half WITHOUT Bright. They did seem to take their foot off the gas in the second half. Regarding the 2-point conversion, keep in mind that the game was at Lindsey Wilson, and the college uprights are more narrow than high school uprights. Perhaps they didn't see the kick as "automatic." Overall, it was a great game to watch as a high school football fan.

LOL!!! I have to say, Diesel, those were my thoughts exactly. Mayfield is undoubtedly the favorite, but several schools are taking their schedules and other items off of their bulletin boards and pinning that quote up there!

Right back at ya, TP! What a game! A couple of dozen Corbin fans left early in the 3rd quarter. I'm sure they were shocked to see the final score.

Did I hear correctly that this game was called at halftime?

Curious about the decision. Has anyone heard anything?

Tough task for the Cardinals without Bright, but I would still expect Mayfield to come out with the win.

I look for Mayfield to go into the semi-finals undefeated, and they will come in as the deserved favorite against DeSales or CAL. From DeSales' perspective, we saw what we were hoping to see on Friday - continued progression. RB Simpson returned and scored a TD. The sophomore QB looked good again both running and passing, including two 35-plus yard go routes to the highly touted freshman WR. The Colts have a dangerous asset that they lacked last season - big play capability. They have at least two guys that if they break free likely will not be caught from behind. DeSales was experienced and very methodical last year - big and bruising. This year they are the exact opposite - a work in progress with speed everywhere and significantly more upside.

Big win for the Colts. They came out dominant and cruised to a 20-0 halftime lead. The change at QB has been big - in the offense we run, we have to have a mobile QB, and this kid fits that bill and is extremely accurate as a passer. This was also the first game back for one of our leading rushers from last year. He looked good in his return. Another weapon. The season is progressing as I had hoped. Everyone is now back in the lineup, and young players are stepping up everywhere. Sophomore QB threw two bombs to our newest weapon, a freshman WR who has flames coming off his heels. Two catches for 73 yards - the first a diving catch and the second going up over defenders. He dropped two passes and a punt last week, but then caught a tipped pass on defense and returned it 80-plus yards for a pick six. The kid is electric. Defensively, we held FC to only seven first downs. Their first score came on a third and short where we stacked the box and the RB broke through. #16 (mentioned in another comment) tracked him down at the 2 after being 15 yards behind, and they punched it in from there. Second score came on a long pass. Safety gambled and went for the pick, WR caught it and off to the races...UNTIL #16 (again) chased him down from the opposite side of the field. Again, FC punched it in from inside the 5. Loved the effort on both of those plays. Kid is not only talented but showed extreme effort on those two plays. Overall, we're an entirely different team than the one that played Ballard a few weeks back. Now it's a bye week, then North Hardin and CAL. Let's keep it rolling boys!!!

Yeah, he's one of our two lock down corners. He is getting looks from some SEC schools. Both corners had picks last night. Safety is a total stud as well, captain of the defense. The secondary is REALLY strong.

What in the WORLD is going on with Nelson County? Are they THAT bad???

Ha! With my knowledge of Nelson County, and after reading this "play-by-play" I just realized who Hearsay is!!! And I would love to join you boys on this bourbon tour. I have some family history with a couple of the distilleries, and some great stories that have been passed down through the generations.

This will be a big test for our O-Line. I think our D-Line can hold its own. Ballard could not run the ball against us, so I feel pretty good defensively. I'm making the same prediction I made against Ballard. If we score more than 14 points we will win the game. Hopefully this time we will!

As I mentioned earlier, I cannot speak to this game, but it seems like the verdict is still out on North Hardin. I'm mostly curious because North will be coming to DeSales in three weeks. I saw Bankhead last year, but he was limited because we played them in a monsoon. I hope to see him at his best this year. I've heard great things about him.

Well done Bert. I will be watching the Manual-Ballard game with a close eye. That outcome, combined with how DeSales looks against Fern Creek will give me a much better feel for where the Colts are at this point in the season.

Wow Schue....as a guy who is VERY familiar with the Bourbon Festival, let me say - you NAILED it!

Nice analysis on the comparison to last year Colt Pride. I would add two things. First, we have traded size for speed and quickness, especially on defense. Second, we have young but REALLY talented players at key positions who will only improve as the season progresses. I truly believe that we will look like a much different team by the time the playoffs roll around.

DeSales will get a starting RB from last year back for the first time this season Friday night. He'll have to shake off some rust, but it will add a weapon to an offense that is still trying to find its way.

I haven't seen either team and have no idea who would win or why. However, every week I read post after post about why North Hardin won't win in a given week. Then, after the game, I read excuses and reasons why the OTHER team lost instead of why North Hardin won. If I'm not mistaken, they are now 4-0 against a tough schedule.

As a guy who watched Ballard handle my Colts fairly easily, I am curious to see how they do the rest of the season. I believe they were only trailing Male 17-13 in the 4th quarter a couple of weeks ago before surrendering two late TDs. That result now looks even more impressive. I believe they have Manual next week. They are a MUCH different team than last year.

Wow....is Nelson County now the worst team of the four in Bardstown? How the mighty have fallen.

Next three games - Fern Creek, North Hardin, CAL. It's time to find out if we have what it takes to make another deep run.
