Who was the best Yeast at old Harrodsburg HS?
ChiefSmoke posted a topic in KY Football (High School)
In the early 70’s, Bo Yeast was like Barry Sanders, Jim Brown and Walter Payton in this area. If you ever saw a KY Advocate(Saturday night/Sunday morning in the fall) prepped by Bill & Larry Vaught, you may remember those days. 50 years later on our podcast, we ask Craig Yeast, who was the BEST Yeast to play for Harrodsburg HS? I can say this, over the past 8 years, there is ONE name that I ‘ve heard, consistently, and it is from people that would know. If you are not from Harrodsburg, the name may surprise you. If you are a Yeast, don’t put it on here so that people have to listen to our podcast! TH, 9/14, 7:30 pm to get THE answer! On our podcast this week, we asked Coach Engler.... "The Split up of High Schools in Boone County. Was that good for kids? Was that good for KY HS Football?" Coach Engler had a good answer. Be sure to listen.... Thursday, 9/7, 7:30 pm The Coaches Office: Behind the Scenes of HS Football w/ Chuck Smith & David Buchanan Would be curious to hear @theguru's answer to these two questions. There is a great northern KY football following on BGPreps. Would love to see what those fans think as well... especially the old timers!

Boyle County at Danville Updates/Predictions
ChiefSmoke replied to WestDanville's topic in KY Football (High School)
We(Mason) played Boyle in round 2, the 2000 season. Ugly. That is probably best team I ever coached against. The 1987 Admirals were pretty dang good also. We played them at Mercer, my last year there as an assistant. -
Is Highlands' Coach Sphire in a do or die situation?
ChiefSmoke replied to TylerDurden's topic in KY Football (High School)
I've known Bob since he was the head coach at Knott County Central. Still remember making the drive from Paris as an assistant to pick up a VHS tape on Hazard. Can see him sitting on his front step, early in the morning, holding that VHS cassette. I watched him build LexCath. When they kicked our tails (Paris 1994) it was a tough night. We see Lex Cath as it is today. Getting it started... a whole different story. Bob has a swagger that can rub some folks the wrong way, but Bob is his best when he is being Bob. One day at the AFCA Convention, I hear a HS coach getting after the AFCA President. It was Bob! I hope he never changes. He is good for kids and KY HS Football. The Bluebirds have an excellent and experienced coach who will work like a mad man to win. As an old guy, yes, I am biased, but EXPERIENCE is vastly underrated. None of us as head coaches are perfect. Far from it. We will all have our quirks & weaknesses. But, not many guys have got the skill set to get the Bluebirds where they want to be. Bob does. -
