I agree. In football, assistant coaches are critical... .so many different skill sets and positions. In a state that traditionally has so much basketball culture in administration, it is sometimes difficult to get your bosses to understand that part of it because in basketball, one very good head coach can make it go. I have been fortunate... Paris, Mason, Mercer & Anderson... my bosses understood we had to have great assistant coaches and we got it done. Although... I did threaten my AD one time.... he was not a fan of foot to foot football, full house backfield set. I told him, "If we don't hire assistant coaches, that will be our offense since I have to coach them all by myself. That is the only way I can see them all and coach them all!" He was a big Hal Mumme/Tim Couch fan... we got those assistants. Lol I am teasing.... he was a great AD and a high character guy! (Fred Hester- Mason County)

Brought out a couple heavy hitters today. As always…Clay McKee & Boone Goldsmith provided excellent instruction. These QBs got better today! Of course… best in USA was available: Team Issue ! Had QBs from Anderson County, Washington County, Raceland, Garrard County, Scott County, Bullitt Central, Frankfort, Fort Knox & Taylor County. #4thand40

Good first day of mini camp. Thank you to the Dad’s who marked the practice field. Thank you to Mothers of Brothers & the families for feeding our guys TWICE today. That was very generous and meant a lot to our guys. Red helmets looked great and the kids love them! #FindAWayToWin

Thank you for the kind words. We tried to be patient and make sure we had the right guys in place. Finally completed our staff on 5/31. I've made a living off of hitching my wagon to awful good people. It makes all the difference. And, especially in regards to hiring coaches... always want men that would be strong role models for my sons. Of course we will work to be the best we can be and win games / championships. But, absolutely, the parents in Anderson County should want their kids around these men. They are an exceptional group, especially in regards to character!

Season #1 for Larry French was 1978 at Mercer County HS. He was my HS coach. My daughter, Emma, is engaged to Josiah Robbins (former QB at Boyle & Cumberlands U.) . His HS football coaches...
