I know of one applicant…. Exceptional. He could keep kids at FHS. His name is Kenan McWhorter. All American at Georgetown. Coached w/ us this past fall at ACHS. I am a big fan of Kenan. Through the roof knowledge of the game and ability to build rapport w/ kids.

Alistair Sims is my favorite as well. We watched it I. World Civ every year and would give the kids a piece of chocolate each day we watched. Christmas is a TOUGH time of year for a lot people. Wanted those kids to have at least one good memory from that Christmas and that Coach Buchanan made an effort.

Saw something really cool Friday at Anderson. Coach Bryan Hyatt was presented with a plaque for his 100th win. A bunch of former players were there to share that moment with him. Bryan played at Anderson. Coaching in your hometown is a great experience but it is tough. I have not seen many guys getting recognized like that in their hometown. I was impressed. Andrew Sparrow & Cooper Welch are going to have big seasons for the Bearcats. Don't be surprised to see the roles of Henry Cooper & Hudson DeGarmo grow as the season progresses. Good luck to the Bearcats!

TJ is an awful good man and football coach. Got to know him when I went to Mason and he was at Greenup. When I worked at Mercer, we talked often about the coaching in your hometown experience. TJ gave the Red Devils all he had, and had huge shoes to fill. Even my own son, Trosper (then 11 years old) said he would never speak to TJ because he loved Coach McGlone! I had to explain that Ivan leaving was not TJ's fault. Flatwoods, Coach McGlone, the Red Devils, the fire coming out of the scoreboard... iconic in our family. We love that place. Had our heartbroken, often....but that game was often the biggest one of the season. Congratulations Coach Maynard on a long and very successful career!

Texas Tech Joey McGuire thinks we need to complete the college football season by January 1st. Thinks it will help the chaos that is currently running rampant in coaching hires, portal, NIL, etc. Also... that would allow the student-athletes to get some rest before returning to campus/class. Agree or Disagree?

If it could be completed by January 1st each year... might be better that what we are doing now.

This weekend, working our Hospitality Room, I was also fortunate to be on the phone with Coach Mike Archer. He was quoting his two mentors, Howard Schnellenberger & Bill Arnsparger. This picture was hanging on the wall at the K Club. Was crazy to hear those names while looking at this picture. There are not alot of perks to being old, but that was pretty cool! And... I am proud of the K Club for hanging up this picture. Most of the time, fired staffs don't make it up on to the walls. But, these guys were the best of the best.

All Tough Topics with more depth / details. The feedback we get is that our listeners enjoy the Tough Topics the most. This is our gift to our Listeners. We had a string of about 5 weeks where all of our Tough Topics came from BGPreps. Thank you! TBD: Special Episode (will not share details on this until we release it). Hope we get it out there this coming week, ASAP. Not sure what to think... and I know these are not big numbers... but it took the Chris Wolfe episode 3 days to pass up the Kirby Smart episode as our most popular episode of all time. BGPrep community.... What is the explanation for that? What made that episode, so popular and so quickly? Finally, going back 4 seasons, my state championship predictions are 22 out of 23. My only miss... 2024 Cooper did not beat Bowling Green. And, I can blame that one on Coach Chuck Smith. ? Will explain on the podcast.
