Open Job: Taylor County

Featured Replies

Scott Parkey has stepped down after 3 seasons as head coach of the Cardinals football program.

Parkey, who previously spent 14 seasons as head coach at Rockcastle County (2008-2021) came to Taylor County in 2002 as offensive coordinator under head coach Sam Marple, and then took over as head coach after Coach Marple resigned to accept a position in school administration.

The Cardinals were 22-12 during Coach Parkey's tenure, and he has has an overall head coaching record of 105-87 spanning his 17 seasons as head coach at Rockcastle Count and Taylor County.

Scott has had a long and successful career. Best wishes to him going forward!

Best wishes to Coach Parkey. One would think this job will have a solid application pool.

Good Luck Scott. Will, William Harris get his chance to be head coach?

I hope Taylor County can find someone that can be successful there and is wanting to be make it their home.  The new coach will be the 7th coach since the 2010 season (Curtis Cotton, Eric Graves, Dudley Hilton, Jason Foley, Sam Marple, and Scott Parkey).  It's hard to get where you want to be when you have a coaching change every 3 years.

He should, already there and heck of DC !!

Jack Herron, Very young but very talented, had a great season at Glasgow, and also an alumni?

Justin Hoosier from Green County, who is from Taylor County, been a DC before a couple times and has been on staff there at Taylor county before?

Foley to return? not having a great last few season at Southwestern.

Will Harris, Been the DC and has done a great job. It has looked like a HC in waiting situation there. Anyone else that could be intriguing?

I have heard a couple of these names already. I know 2 of these candidates have already had conversations with TC admin. Be interested to see if TC finally goes after an alum or opens it up. This is a job that hasn't had a great track record of keeping coaches around lately.

I second the Jack Herron idea. I think he will certainly get a look.

Hoosier is a possibility.

There is no chance Jason Foley goes back to that school.

Harris is the candidate being talked about most at the moment.

Harris is a very good coach and a leader.  I think he'd be a great HC to transition to.  Already coaching the same team and well liked.  It's the safest hire but not sure it's not the best hire also.

Mercer Admin would never admit this but they would have been so much better off right now hiring Harris instead of Yeast. Would love to see Harris get his shot at being a head coach to make that decision even more obvious than it already is.

He would have been a great fit at Mercer, I agree. Is Yeast back in 2026?

If he did not have the last name Yeast and a few other factors he would or should have been gone mid season.  Mercer Admin will probably allow it to be run in the ground some more before they do anything.  Harris was very well liked at Mercer.  He left when they hired Yeast along with several other good assistants.

You are correct. It is the BEST hire.

Not sure on Jack Herron I have heard that he is still a little immature which is understandable as he is young. I believe that he missed a big early season 7v7 event for Glasgow. I am sure he will be fine but may need a few more growing seasons.
