Does the Keeneland schedule still push most October games to evening or is that old news?

Centre College got a donation today for $225 million. NIL is legal for D3 & Ivy League Football. What is to keep one of these schools with rich donors from building an elite roster?

Centre has Homecoming this weekend. Reminded me... when Steele Harmon was the head football coach at Centre, he told me all the alums that came back would say, " I threw the block that sprung Bo (McMillin) for the TD (to beat Harvard 6-0). " Steele said, "I finally realized, no wonder Bo scored. He had 40 guys on the field blocking for him. " "I threw the block that sprung Bo!"

Little irritated with Jerry. Our first game(1995) against each other, we could play a 5-2 Shade defensive front with a Monster 3 deep behind it. Now he has a Mr. Football candidate @ QB, really good WRs and a solid Oline. We better put 11 DBs on the field in 2026. 😎 Times have changed!

Fall break, got to watch a little Finebaum yesterday. Had Peter King on. Will be a collection of his stories, covering the NFL the past 30 plus years. Sounded like it will be good!

Good for the TSSAA, responding in a cooperative manner. The Gulf States Independent Athletic Association (GSIAA) is getting started in Alabama but has said they will be open to including schools from other states. I would think it would be best for state associations to keep all of their schools under their operation, even if the model changes. Would most of you agree or disagree with that?

I am encouraged that you believe that Carter County HS is better for the kids than having East or West. I sure hope you are correct.

Will this be what ultimately separates the future top programs from the has-beens? Will part of the equation be the finances of coaching hires that don't work out? LSU had a $44 million short fall last year and this year it is projected to be $26 million. Admittedly, I have zero concept of the amount of money connected to college football, tv contracts, etc. But, to my simple-mind, it appears to be unsustainable for many universities.

I get messages like this often. Just curious ... what does the BGPreps crowd think? Who makes the BEST football?

I put the stats in every week for 17 years here. They said he had an interception in the Shelby Co game which he didn’t and they said I didn’t put the interception in at the end of the game, but the official ruled it out of bounds on 4th down and marked it at the original spot.- Coach Jerry Lucas, Collins HS HFC Coach Lucas asked me to share this. We go back 31 years to Paris v. Western Hills (1995). Also coached against his Dad (Roy Senior at Newport) & brother (Roy Junior at Lloyd). Great football family!

My youngest son, Trosper, is an offensive assistant on Coach Stein's staff. He told me this summer, "This staff will be remembered like the Blanton Collier staff." Blanton Collier & Bill Arnsparger are revered in our family due to our Paris ties. That was a big statement coming from him. On a side note, just weird how things change. Before Bill Arnsparger was the HFC at LSU and the DC for the undefeated Dolphins, he was a Marine during WW 2 and saw fighting at Okinawa. Lane Kiffin did Hot Yoga on game day. We really live in a world I could have never imagined when I was little.

Coach Smith and I split in picking the winners. Both play excellent defense and are among the top 6A programs in KY. Would not be surprised to see both teams make deep runs in November. Other than Trinity, may be the two top 6A Teams for 2026. A crazy good game would be to see either play CAL.

What I wouldn't give for one more Saturday, riding in the car w/ my Dad, headed to Commonwealth Stadium & listening to Leonard's Losers.

Getting crazy in Tennessee. The KHSAA Commissioner hire seems to become more significant each day that passes.

I got to visit w/ Coach Sams before we played. I really like him. Solid young coach and we are definitely going to get together and clinic this offseason. We didn't talk about their struggles. But, he did say that youth football is booming in their community and they have over 80 guys on their current HS roster. They are about to get a makeover for their weightroom and he is excited about that. He has a good relationship w/ his Bosses and likes them. Oldham is on the uptick and the score of their game was 14-12. Things are usually not as bad as they seem. I think that applies here.
