I get messages like this often. Just curious ... what does the BGPreps crowd think? Who makes the BEST football?

I've always been a fan of Wilson footballs. The pebbled laces make the ball easier to grip and throw. They do take a little bit of effort to break in. The Spaulding Alpha is good, but I think it falls short in the area of durability. A few years ago I got hold of a bunch of Baden Footballs, which were surprisingly good. I think their current model is the Apex. I've never seen them in use anywhere though, but I'd be happy to use them again.

It’s a shame that Wilson GSTs are not allowed in KY…best all around ball, and when treated properly is spectacular. You can really fine tune it.

Spalding Alphas just stink. So hard/slick out of the box and don’t take that well to treatment/mud. I treat the crap out of them and I still don’t particularly like how they end up. Laces are decent but wear out easily. And the slickest non-grip stripe in the business.

Need a KHSAA leather football rebellion…

Wilson GST with the black laces. No other ball compares and the fact teams have to use the spalding balls that wear out after one rainey game really is a detriment to all the kids who have to use them. The laces on a spalding disappear after half a season.

The struggle is you're "supposed" to only use the Spalding branded footballs in the KHSAA playoffs. The Wilson GST's are awesome. But IMO why use a ball all year you're going to have to change come playoff time.

When I got a Franklin football for Christmas at about 8 years old for Christmas it was the best. I had killed my Hutch earlier in the fall lol. Have a great game day football use from the State Finals, the first year Wilson was the mandated ball. Previous game had used a Rawlings and a Spalding. I was instructed in rather explicit language that the commissioner didn't care what happened but there had better be a Wilson football in use for every play of the game lol.
