Cory Dumphord

We are proud to announce the appointment of Cory Dumphord as the new head football coach of the Paris High School Greyhounds. A Paris alumnus and award-winning former athlete, Coach Dumphord returns to his alma mater with a strong passion for the program and commitment to developing student-athletes on and off the field.

A standout player during his time at Paris, Coach Dumphord earned multiple accolades for his leadership and performance before continuing his success at the high school and collegiate levels. Since assuming the role, he has hit the ground running, focused on building a disciplined, competitive program rooted in teamwork, sportsmanship, and character.

Paris City Schools

Cory Dumphord is a 1995 graduate from Paris High School. He was a 4-year varsity letterman for the Greyhounds Football Team, and also played basketball at Paris. As a sophomore he had 1,279 all-purpose yards, including 5 touchdowns on returned kicks. His junior year, after taking over as starting QB, he finished the season with 869 yards rushing for 12 TDs, he was 46-105 (43.8%) passing for 857 yards and 10 TDs, and had 1,269 all-purpose yards. He was an honorable mention quarterback on the the Courier-Journal's all-state team that season. In his senior year he was named to the Herald-Leader's Class of the Commonwealth, and he finished his basketball career at Paris in second place for all-time scoring with 1,970 points. He attended Central College in McPherson, Kansas on a basketball scholarship his freshman year before transferring to Kentucky State as a sophomore. As a guard for the KSU Thorobreds, he led the SIAC in scoring in his senior year, with 24 points per game.

As a football coach, Coach Dumphord most recently took over as the head football coach for Paris Middle School in 2025.

We only had about 27-28 guys when Cory played. On a rare day we are getting to work a back up offense, Cory jumps down to play Noseguard on Scout Team Defense. 

I look at him and say, “What are you doing?!”

He says, “Coach , I can do it. “

I respond, “I know you CAN do it but you are NOT going to do it!”

The guy LOVES football! 

Got a glimpse of what heaven will be like. Got to be w/ some of the guys on my 1st Paris team. 1992. We were celebrating Cory Dumphord as the new HFC. Incredible night. Very thankful for these young men! Great days. What a blessing they still are!

Talked to a young HFC after this event. He had a TOUGH day and learned some tough lessons. Told him, this is hard but it is 1000% worth it. 

Had to sprint to get there. We had a player development workout at Anderson that ended at 5 pm. The guys I am coaching right now... crazy about them as well. 

 

 

 

He was an amazing player for sure. 

Got to stop and visit my old quarterback in his office now that he is the Head
Football Coach! What a great moment it was to see him. So proud of Cory Dumphord!
