  1. Well, I've got a few post under my belt so let me chime in. Yeah, I think its a little premature to call the kid a "headcase". If refusing to enter a game makes you a "headcase", you might want to label #3 in your avatar a "headcase". I remember a night in Radcliffe when your boy refused to re-enter a game causing his coach to scramble for a QB and have to waste a time-out.
  2. Well Brady coached LSU to a win over Gillispie in the NCAA last year when Billy elected not to foul with seconds left and only a three could beat his team. Sound familiar? Tubby got roasted on this board for the same crime in the State game. Then this year Brady coached his way to another victory over Gillispie during one of LSU's worst years while A&M was having one of their best years ever. Is that all recruiting? FYI, Brady coached LSU to a victory over recruiting wizard Billy Donovan earlier this year as well.
  3. Go back and read the entire thread. I didn't bring LSU or any other team into the discussion. I simply stated that UK has a high number of suspensions lately. It must have touched a nerve with the UK faithful because a firestorm erupted. Do you disagree with that point? Show me where I take pride in off field altercations. That is a huge leap on your part. I simply said that most of the icidents that were posted sounded like boys being boys. I fractured a few laws back in college myself. I can't say that I'm proud or particularly ashamed of the fact. Thats life on campus. FYI, the police were involved in the Bo Smith incident, he returned to UK's team once his health allowed.
  4. Great retort Wireman, you really put the muzzle on Fletch.
  5. Is your first sentence correct? It doesn't seem to agree with your second point.
  6. Is there any doubt that this is the intention? Pick up any paper and read any article on the subject. It is full of "level the playing field" and "restrict the private schools" etc. It will end up in court, and I predict the measure will be ruled unlawful. JMO, of course.
  7. Given the present circumstances, if Billy wins an NCAA title next year they may rename the arena after him.
  8. I was just establishing a baseline to counter your claim. Save the "big brother" talk for your UofL friends.
  9. I've used this example a few times myself. Although Pitino had a final four to hang his hat on. Gillispie will be a coach for UK if he can handle the pressure. No way to know from his past, but I wish him good luck.
  10. Did anyone think that UK wasn't going to be the media's punching bag for a while after recent developments? They ran off (in the minds of the media) a very popular, very successful (by most school's standards) African American coach to go after the young hot coach only to be scorned. They then hire a guy that has great upside but is a little on the green side (5 years as a head coach) for UK standards. This is a formula for the talking heads to take their shots. Of course winning cures all. JMO, of course.
  11. Really? He is 2-0 against Billy Gillispie.:sssh:
  12. My take on knuckleheads is that it takes one to know one. I don't know any.:sssh:
  13. I wouldn't stand in his way if he wanted to leave. Gee Fletch, he was in the final four just last year. When was A&M's last final four? When was UK last in the final four. Has Billy Gillispie ever coached a team to the final four?
  14. Rick Robey. Geat high school career in New Orleans. One that got away. Was offered and considered signing with LSU... to play football. He is the dad of a fine young two-sport Rock. My one and only favorite Wildcat.:thumb:
  15. A two year starter on the O-line for the Rocks back tp back 4A state championship teams. Good luck Reid. Congrats to a great kid from a fine family.:thumb:
  16. No but I don't think some college students getting into a fight is earth shattering. Look back at the origin of this thread. I asked the question if UK seemed to have a lot of suspensions. The two answers I got were "we're glad coach Brooks suspends the players" and "your team has had its problems as well". The fact remains that UK has a high number of suspensions over rules violations. They have had a gun incident and their share of fights as well (the big difference in this one was that the UK player got his butt whipped with a baseball bat).
  17. If this is true it kind of disproves the claim that public/independent schools are restricted to defined "feeder" schools. Mods, why is this thread in the football forum? Does prop 2 deal with only football? Isn't this more suited to the public/private forum?
  18. We aren't talking about laws here, we are talking about rules. If someones parents are willing to lie like you say, there is little we can do about it. That kind of behavior will be handled at a later date and I'm at peace with that. Your last paragraph is a little bit cloak and dagger by my experience. It may be happening out in the country but I haven't seen or heard of such things around here.
  19. Johnny Dawkins isn't a head coach by his choice. A number of schools have tried to lure him away.
  20. The part that is really funny is that if you bothered to read the stories you would see that a few athletes got in trouble for kicking some butts (the last two posts were about the same incident). Another was about a back-up that was juicing to get better. All this on a team that wins a bunch of games including a 49-0 dismantling of your beloved Wildcats. Meanwhile the Wildcats are getting suspended in record numbers for being too dumb to attend class. I believe the joke is on you.
  21. I'm kidding as well. Glad you can take a joke, some on here can't.
  22. I agree that its kind of dirty to dump a school that gave Huggins a chance when he was radio active. But then again... when mama calls...
  23. Do any "sources" say that its a "done deal"?
