There are a handful of forfeits every year for a variety of reasons. Most of the time it has to do with no enough players. People are butthurt for a while and then get over it. DeSales has a bigger picture to consider. Fort Knox is already considering theirs. And the pictures are nowhere near the same. I agree with the above. There is no quick fix for the Fort Knox program when you are in the transient military state they are in. Fort Campbell went through the same pains in the late 1990s-2000s pre-Shawn Berner. It's hard to build a program when you don't know what your roster will look like from year to year. It's why Fort Knox struggles in all athletic programs -- not just football

I always thought Fort Campbell did. You drive past armed guards after having to show ID, vehicle registration, and insurance. They sometimes require you to stop, stand in line at a building and get a pass. Then you drive past tanks, barracks, and tanks to get to the stadium where sometimes a soldier parachutes from a helicopter with the game ball That all can be rather intimidating and the first part definitely keeps the visiting crowd size down

Don't sleep on Russellville. They have made a tweak here and there and have the athletes to compete with Mayfield.

Elijah Sindelar had 345 yards passing and 4 TDs. Jaylin Boyd had 120+ rushing yards after a 5 carry, 13 yard performance against Trigg County last week.

Hopkinsville had 570 yards of offense. Vincent Brown ran for 145 yards on six carries, and QB Tyler Graham had three total TDs.

Good win for Trigg. Defense held Union's option attack (400+ yards per game coming in) to 166 yards and just 37 in the second half. Held Caldwell to under 100 last week. They are getting better.

Madisonville's Ryan Bowman rushed for 390 yards and had five total touchdowns. This game went back and forth all night until Madisonville broke serve late and won. They've won eight straight vs. Hoptown.

Caldwell County's offense is about as sharp as any HS offense I've seen in a long time. Maybe as good as Highlands the year they set the scoring record. Sindelar was 13 of 15 passing for 313 yards and three TDs. Running game was a non-factor for Caldwell but they really didnt need it. Caldwell played good defense early but started to give up big chunks of yards once they built the lead to 28. Caldwell had six scoring drives in the first half of :43, :08, :22, 1:59, :08, and :42. Trigg and Caldwell have played every year since 1954. It's the first time since 1998 that Caldwell has won consecutive games against Trigg. Maybe the most impressive part about Sindelar's game was afterward. Sindelar has only had to punt three times this year. He shanked two tonight for a total of -1 yards. After the game, he was on the field working on his punting and booming 50 yarders here and there. That's how you get better.

Caldwell fans said the same thing about Murray last year. In the playoffs, it happens.

3A football in western Kentucky is down this year compared to past years. Tilghman was expected to continue their role as the dominant WKY program and it just hasn't happened. Fort Campbell and Trigg County have both been hurt by the bump to Class 3A. Russellville could very well compete in Class 3A, District 2 every year but with Mayfield bumping to Class 2A for the next cycle, they are foolish to play up like they did several years ago. South Warren is the closest thing to a sure bet when it comes to making a deep playoff run but head scratching losses to Tilghman and Monroe the past two seasons has kept them out of the long-term discussion. In my view, Caldwell County makes the jump to Class 3A at the perfect time. Both South Warren and Monroe leave Class 3A and Trigg, Fort Campbell, and Tilghman are all down.

Glasgow is too high. That was a bad loss to Barren County, a team they owned for the past six years. Don't sleep on CAL. Everyone talks about DeSales but I'm not expecting to see a sweep either way this year in that series.

Let's not forget there is an NAIA college in Campbellsville.

That's what they thought last year and only scored 14 against Murray. But again, the question isn't their offense. However, Caldwell will not win any playoff games scoring just 14 points this year.

It comes down to proofreading. It's the sports writers job to write the stories and get them onto the page. With it being a Friday night, the deadline is tight and Sports is usually the last section to go to print. Sometimes, someone from the news department comes over to help get the stories onto the page. And a lot of times, they aren't very knowledgeable about sports. They will place pictures and stories on the page and hope that someone proofs it. For some reason, the Paxton Media Group, owners of the Paducah Sun, moved their sports editor to the news layout department a few years back and they have never filled the position of sports editor. It bothered Joey because he felt like he had paid his dues and deserved the promotion. It never happened. This type of mistake is something the sports editor would have caught and corrected. This is one of the reasons why PMG is not making money from their daily newspapers and trying to sell off their assets. The headline didn't get proofed. Simple as that. It happens when they call Trigg County the 'Tigers' instead of the Wildcats, Caldwell County the 'Wildcats' instead of Tigers, get names wrong, and misidentify players in the pictures.
