For Jordan Gary this will be his third school in as many years. He started at Lyon County then transferred for some reason to UHA and now on to Hopkinsville. Tyler is a solid player. He is the third player in the last two years to transfer from Christian County to Hopkinsville.

There were several fields in western Kentucky that suffered winter kills due to the cold winter. Some have sprigged the bare locations. I have heard that Caldwell County's was the worst hit.

Evan Merrick has been promoted to head coach at Marshall County. He is from Graves County and played at Campbellsville. He takes over for Ron Barnard who was 16-28 in four years as Marshals coach.

Former Ft Campbell football coach Marshall Patterson passed away today. He won three states titles in 1976, 78, and 79 with the Falcons and won 227 games in 32 years as head coach. As AD, Falcon teams won 27 state titles in different sports.

Caldwell jumped out to an 11-0 lead. Trigg cut the deficit to four on several occasions but could get no closer. Trigg shot just 32-percent from the field and got outrebounded 40-30. Sindelar is a tough matchup -- he can play all five positions, but Caldwell did more damage when they put both he and Pepper down low. Their lack of a true point guard will hurt them in close games.

Tra Edwards had 26 points for Hopkinsville as they win the consolation bracket of the KOB.

Reports say they found the roof about a half-mile away. No official word on the status of the boys and girls tournament scheduled there for later in the week.

First Region teams fared well in various holiday tournaments over the weekend, with Paducah Tilghman playing for the championship of their own 69th annual Christmas Tournament Monday. Graves County and Calloway County went unbeaten at the Graves County shootout, which keeps them 1-2 in this week’s First Region rankings. 1. Graves County (8-0) – The Eagles went 4-0 in their own Eagle Holiday Classic, with three of the wins coming against Tennessee schools. Graves beat Station Camp, Tennessee 61-42 with Peyton Puckett pouring in 21 points. Station Camp, from Gallatin, brought a 10-0 record into the shootout before losing three straight games to Kentucky schools. Jake Williams had a big game for Graves in their 67-46 win over Martin Westview (2-12) Saturday. Friday, Williams had 27 points and nine rebounds to help Graves County to a 65-53 win over West Creek (5-10). Graves County will borrow Santa’s sleigh after Christmas and fly to Las Vegas to play in an event there December 26-30 before returning home to play Paducah Tilghman Jan. 3. 2. Calloway County (5-1) – The Lakers beat three Tennessee teams at the Graves County Eagle Holiday Classic. Their only loss came to Graves 57-42 on December 13. Skylar Hunter scored 18 points and pulled down six rebounds to help the Lakers to a 59-43 win over Westview. Parker Adams had 24 points and six rebounds, while Michael Arnett added 19 points in a 71-56 win over West Creek. In the finale, four players scored in double figures to help the Lakers to a 61-42 win over Station Camp. Calloway County shot 56-percent from the field in the win. Calloway County will head east to the Lake Cumberland Holiday Classic Dec. 27-30. The Lakers will open play against Doss (4-1). 3. McCracken County (6-1) – The Mustangs advanced to Monday’s championship game of the Warren East Christmas Tournament with strong guard play in their first two games of the event. McCracken used a strong third quarter to pull away from South Warren (6-3) to beat the Spartans 57-45. Jared Burnett scored 17 points and backcourt mate Kam Chumbler added 14 points. Burnett and Chumbler combined for 31 points in their opening game, a 73-47 win over McLean County (3-4). McCracken County plays Warren East (6-1) for the title Monday night. The Raiders’ lone loss came against South Warren on December 13. 4. Paducah Tilghman (5-1) – The Tornado will play Bowling Green for the title of their own Christmas tournament Monday after winning two games Saturday. Tilghman had to rally to beat Trigg County 72-66 in their first game, after trailing 51-49 entering the fourth quarter. Mikey Davis led Tilghman with 20 points, and Devon Hart added 18 points. Tilghman used a strong third quarter to hammer Mayfield 66-44 in their second game Saturday. The Tornado outscored Mayfield 26-8 in the third quarter after holding on to a slim 19-18 halftime advantage. Tilghman hit nine 3-pointers and shot an even 50-percent from the field to get their fifth win of the season. Andre Strayhorn led Tilghman with 18 points, while Devon Hart and Jesse Dunigan each scored 12 points. The Tornado will play Bowling Green (5-2) for the tournament title Monday. 5. Marshall County (5-3) – After losing their opening game in the Clinton County Twin Lakes Holiday Classic, the Marshals rallied to take the final two games to edge above .500. Marshall lost their opener to Sevier County (TN) 66-49. Austin Rentfrow led the Marshals with 16 points. The Smoky Bears are 10-3 after the win over the Marshals. Marshall County rebounded with a 53-48 win over Knox Central (4-5) Saturday as Rentfrow again led the way with 21 points and 13 rebounds. D.J. Pigg added 10 points. Sunday, the Marshals finished round-robin play with a 46-42 win over Clinton County (9-2) and an easier 64-35 win against Metcalfe County (1-7). In the Metcalfe win, Rentfrow went for 18 points and 12 rebounds. Against Clinton County, it was Mason Wooten who scored 14 points and grabbed six boards to seal the win. Marshall County enjoys a few days for Christmas and then heads to Panama City Beach, Florida for the Marlin Christmas Classic there. 6. St. Mary (5-1) – The Vikings beat Mayfield 66-50 on December 16th and don’t return to action until Friday when they play in the Carbondale (Ill.) Holiday Tournament. 7. Mayfield (3-3) – The Cardinals looked good in their 76-61 win over Trigg County (5-2) Saturday at the Paducah Tilghman Christmas Tournament. Kyle Downing scored 21 points and grabbed 12 rebounds for the Cardinals, while Marshall Bacon added 19 points. The Cardinals then looked tired in their 66-44 loss to Tilghman Saturday in their second game of the day. Mayfield will play Caldwell County (4-1) Monday in the tournament’s third place game. Both the Cardinals and Paducah Tilghman are scheduled to play in the McLean County Christmas Tournament later in the week. However, storm damage to the gym could cause that event to be moved or even cancelled. Both teams should learn their fate in the next couple of days. 8. Hickman County (3-3) – Things looked promising for the Falcons after a 78-72 loss to Paducah Tilghman earlier in the week. However, Hickman was then blown away in two games Saturday at the Paducah Tilghman Christmas Tournament. Bowling Green handed the Falcons a 66-31 loss as Ryan Harpole led Hickman with eight points. In their 71-45 loss to Caldwell County, Billy Speed led the way with nine points. Hickman County will try and snap their three-game losing streak Monday against Trigg County in the fifth place game. The Falcons then return to action January 2 against St. Mary. 9. Murray (2-2) – The Tigers didn’t play a pre-Christmas tournament, instead opting to play at Webster County’s event after Christmas. Murray’s last game was a 64-48 loss to University Heights on December 19th. 10. Carlisle County (1-5) – The Comets dropped a pair of close games heading into the weekend. Mayfield held off Carlisle County 51-47 Friday night, while Livingston Central picked up their first win of the year with a 59-56 overtime victory Saturday. Against Mayfield, Ethan Witherspoon and Noah Norsworthy each scored 13 points to pace the young Comets squad. Carlisle County will play in Edmonson County’s Caveland Classic after Christmas. 11. Fulton County (2-6) – The Pilots went 2-1 at Christian Fellowship’s tournament to finish in third place in the event. Fulton County picked up wins over Dawson Springs and Evangel Christian but lost to Lyon County 62-58. The Pilots return to action January 4th against Obion County, Tennessee. 12. Ballard Memorial (1-4) – The Bombers are the only First Region team to not play in any type of holiday tournament. Ballard returns to the floor January 4th against Carlisle County. Clay Newton leads the Bombers in scoring at 9.8 points a game, while Keagan Cooper scores nine a game. 13. Fulton City (1-3) – The Bulldogs’ last game was a 63-50 loss to Carlisle County on December 17th. They return to action later this week in the Martin Lion’s Club Christmas Tournament south of the border in Tennessee. 14. Community Christian (1-5) – The Warriors picked up their first win of the season at the Christian Fellowship tournament against the host team. They look to make it two in a row over CFS when they play again January 3. 15. Christian Fellowship (0-8) – The Eagles set themselves up to get their first win of the season but lost to previously winless teams Dawson Springs 50-40 and Community Christian 57-16.

St. Mary is now 5-1, with their only loss at Marshall County.

Another big night for sophomore Detavion Day -- 25 points, 17 rebounds. Senior Luke McKenzie added 14 points and eight rebounds as Trigg outrebounded the Falcons 47-19. Fort Campbell's bench scored 46 of their 53 points. Trigg is now 4-0. Fort Campbell is 0-3.

Incredibly, Lyon County shot one free throw in the game. Hard to imagine the way games are being called this year.
