I am a upset Caldwell Co. fan concerned about the football field. Today is July 18 and the football field has no grass. The school admin. have been aware of this problem for several months. Someone in the school board or admin. has dropped the ball for lack of concern or just don"t give a crap. Caldwell Co football has repersented the community with championship caliber teams the past couple years and the kids and coaches deserve respect. The team is practicing at the American Leigon baseball field which is not school property so god for bid if a kid gets hurt. The football field needs sod and with the season only weeks away I don't believe thers enough time to have a stable field. If for some reason there not able to play any home games someone needs to be fired. The school officals have a responceability to provide safe facilities for the players I would like to see the parents get involved and get this problem solved. The players and coaches deserve better.

What is the reason given by the school for there still being no grass?

We had a similar issue several years ago when the field was reseeded...field just never caught up and was a mess for the entire season.

In my opinon lack of concern and no experience on how to get things done. To answer your question there not giving one that I have heard of.

As we speek the field is striped of all grass nothing but dirt its a shame.

This isnt really a fair thread to be honest. Caldwell Co administrators and coaches have been pinging the list serves for months asking for help and recommendations on getting their field fix. They are are trying, the cold winter killed a few bermuda grass fields (if you dont tarp it, cold can kill it.)

That's a shame. I'd hope the Super/Principal/AD would have the guts to share an update with the coaches and players. If you made a mistake, own up to it and fix it guys.

That makes two fields screwed up now. Football team on a baseball outfield is NOT good.........feel bad for the baseballers when they play again, that outfield will be a mess. :no:

As I stated the admin have been aware of this problem for months but they could not make a decision on weather to sprig or sod and now where a few weeks away from the season.

If they don't have any by now they probably won't. That is a shame for any school administration.

There were several fields in western Kentucky that suffered winter kills due to the cold winter. Some have sprigged the bare locations. I have heard that Caldwell County's was the worst hit.

Not a perfect situation, but I know several years back East Carter re-sodded their field the week before the first game, it was playable, but there were a few areas where the sod was loose. It can be done, it just won't be perfect.

If I am the Sindelar family I am not happy about this in particular.

 

If there is any additional risk to my heavily recruited son that could lead to an injury and jeopardizing his scholarship/career I am all over the School Board for answers.
