Now, that I can agree is not a "Home" field. But, not very many teams in the state doing that, that is why I asked. I truly wanted to know who did not have a "home" field.

 

Isnt there a JCPS team that doesnt have a home field, and plays at an available open field that week, I swear there is one.

To be fair to Caldwell Co, the grass dying isn't their doing and they are suffering just like some other schools and dozens of golf courses. As a golfer I have played on several Bermuda courses this year and none of them would be considered in good shape...the best of them might be considered in below average shape...and the worst of them, well, there's no hope for them this year no matter what the courses do. Sprigging has done next to nothing on some of the courses that have tried it, and even if you do that you pretty much have to stay off of it to give it any sort of chance. Re-sodding isn't cheap by any stretch and there just might be the chance the school doesn't have the money to undergo that. It's an unusual situation and bluntly put there is no easy solution....and no guarantee that whatever they do decide to do (if anything) will work.

Those making comments on the school's role have no idea how hard the school district has been working to get the sod on the field. This is a problem at several other schools in the region as well. There will be sod on the field in the next week.

Gotta tarp the fields, i know the trap is super expensive, but tarping the field could have help this winter.

May very well be true...but that's all hind sight thinking. Who would have ever guessed the die off would happen like it did in the first place, since it had never happened like that in many/most of the places it has occurred. Seems to have taken a LOT of people by surprise...including many golf course people who are much more in the know about turf/grass than the average person.

This isnt really a fair thread to be honest. Caldwell Co administrators and coaches have been pinging the list serves for months asking for help and recommendations on getting their field fix. They are are trying, the cold winter killed a few bermuda grass fields (if you dont tarp it, cold can kill it.)

Considering you have to wait for it to get "super warm" for bermuda to really come back in (and this hasn't happened yet this summer) what were they supposed to do? Furthermore ever had to replace a field? Its not as easy us just calling up the field replacement store and getting a new one. Schools have to take bids, get approval from the board to A spend the money on it, and B approve the bids.

From what I have heard, they will be resodding the field real soon.

Coach Barnes is their AD. Their super is a big time football guy. Those two have been doing everything in their power.

 

As many have said, most all Bermuda fields took a huge hit this year. Maaaaaannnnnnyyy have had to re sprig and/or total overhaul as is. I know of several that still look like crap, but it hasn't had anything to do with lack of attention/care.

 

Bermuda needs HOT days (hot nights even more), and the last 2-3 weeks haven't helped with that. You can water it all day long, but these cool 60/even high 50 degree nights aren't doing their field or others ANY favors.

Can't think of one....I believe you are thinking about DeSales. They used to share Iroquois...not sure about now?

We share with Iroquois, and Southern. This will be our last year doing that as they are building a new stadium at DeSales.
