BG Purples take the field Thanksgiving evening inviting all former players and families to come out. Lots of encouraging words from the alumni (that still wishes they were suiting up). High School football is as good as it gets. Not connected to the BGHS Qyarterback club but they have to be one of the best clubs in all of the state. Weekly evening meals for seniors with clergy and various motivational speakers throughout entire year. This is just 1 of MANY things QB does for the kids. Secret of success for High School football: passionate players, passionate parents, passionate administrartors (passionate principal), passionate qb club, passionate alumnus and passionate fans. Not lip service but truly passionate = success

You better be very selective on when to Blitz a heady QB like Clark Payne at BGHS. He will burn you. Looking forward to Friday. It should be a great atmosphere with two great teams and two great fan bases.

Im glad that BG will be playing against some speed. I know that sounds crazy but I feel we step up to the plate against athletes. Nothing excites me more in High School football to know that rhe season is on the line and the winner goes to the carpet. Purples skill players are simply on another level. Crazy speed, fantastic play calling, disciplined players sticking with thei assignments with an A+ quarterback as the general. Purples defense will be ready to face some athletes. Purples clicked pretty good on offense tonight. Clark Payne stats will be crazy good again tonight. Jamale Caruthers is now the alltime leading scorer for BGHS. He is a great young man that deserves all the complements he receives. Awesome young man. Defense was fairly flat in first half but as usual put the clamps on in 2nd half. Purples get another running clock. I do believe this is arguably the Purples finest. Remember, the state champions of a few years ago had a 45 point rule for running clock compared to todays 36 point rule. This allowed the teams a few years ago to score more points. Splitting hairs but we can all agree that this years team is eeally good. Looking forward to the road trip next Friday night. Great win tonight.

Did not read through all the replies but currently the Bowling Green Purples are 81 and 3 since 2011. Two of the three losses were by 1 Point. A handful of people connected to the program feel that the Purples could be at the beginning stages (23 game winning streak) of another spectacular run.

If anyone could help spread the word to KHSAA.... Please post semi final start times to games ASAP. If games are going to be played at alternate time/day, please let fans know ASAP Thanksgiving weekend is busy enough as it is. The earlier folks know about times of kickoffs, the better. Better attended games will be had the sooner fans know kickoff times. I know we have to get through this Friday but I do feel KHSAA could list all scenerios of home semi final sites with posted kickoff times. It would help us greatly! KHSAA - Help the fans by informing us semi final times, ASAP. We want to go to the games!

BG is better. Everyone would agree, but the Dline for CC played hard, aggresive and great. Nothing but respect from me. Holding or no holding

Purples should be lazer focused after a dismal 2nd quater against Christian County. They will have an intense week of practice. I look for the Purples to come out swinging. Caruthers for BG should solidify his greatness at BGHS with the alltime scoring record Friday night as well. Purples shouldnt and wont be focused on any other possible matchup other than the Red Devils. I like the Purples chances to advance. The Veer will not fair well vs BG defense and our offense should be clicking on all cylinders. Purples 54 Devils 13

Just got home. Purples certainly did not get a running clock and were held in check for a quarter and a half tonight. Good teams find a way to win and we did. HOWEVER, I tip my hat to Christian County. That was the most pressure our QB has seen in last 2 or 3 seasons. Have to give the D line for Christian lots of credit. They really did play extremely well. A few key players for Purples tonight: Kicker Lee Ramsey. Best game of his career and arguably kept our win streak alive DE Justice Dingle had perhaps his best game as a Purple. 2 blocked punts with a handful of key tackles CB Vito Tisdale was everywhere tonight. His chasedown to tackle a kid on the 2 yard line was very impressive. His ceiling is so high. Gonna be one of our best players when its said and done. Coaching staff. You did it again. Christian County played as good as any team has played us in several years in the second quarter (if CC plays like they did in 2nd quarter the entire game, they dethrone Purples and would be state champs). But BG coaches adjust AGAIN and 3rd quarter was all BG. GREAT JOB coaches Christian County fans: I feel I owe you an apology. We had 3 or 4 fans that were real nuckleheads tonight. Not sure what there problem was. I guess there is some in every crowd but these guys were not a good example for the Purple and Gold tonight. Trust me, most of our fans knew that you guys played great and your kids played hard and deserve credit for their efforts. Great job CC! First time we got smacked in the face in a while. Glad it woke us up. Have a feeling the Purples coaching staff will get the kids attention this week. Good game Purples Side note: Ironically, Jamale Caruthers made his name known across the state his sophomore year at Owensboro with more than 300 yards rushing. Next Friday night when Purples matchup with Red Devils, Caruthers needs 2 scores (7 points) to break alltime scoring record for BGHS. Not sure anyone in 5A could hang, this year. Pretty impressive stats: #10 in America (maxpreps, midsized school) #1 ranked Highschool QB in America (qb rating) #1 alltime leading scorer in backfield probably 10+ kids on team that will play on Saturdays Of course, anything can happen but we are pretty dang good this year. Fun to talk about

Defense is champs at "staying home" or "staying in their coverage" BG defensive coaching staff is A+ Trickery will certainly get you beat with running clock sooner! Not sure how many times i have to say it. Opponents better take their time, win time of possession, no turnovers, keep BG offense off field.

According to MaxPreps, Clark Payne the quarterback for Bowling Green High School Purples has the highest quarterback ranking in the United States of America!! You will enjoy. There will be plenty of parking. Sometimes the ticket window(s) get backed up. If you are making the effort to get to Bowling Green, why miss kickoff? I would arrive on BG campus by or before 6:40pm central time. Typical concessions. If you want to eat in Bowling Green before the game, a Bowling Green establishment is Rafferty's. Restaurant is located on Scottsville Road, located less than 5 minutes from Purple land. Great menu. Go with the Ultimate Club: better be hungry. Purples stadium is all on the same side of the field. Sit near the 50 yard line. A little higher up than midway and you will have great seats. Need more info? Let me know - enjoy!

Certainly a great accomplishment. Wishing this team could play the best (Trinity) in the state and other states as well. This past summer at the 7on7 in Dalton, GA we noticed that Clark Payne, BG QB, was on the same playing field as some of the competition seen in Dalton we knew we were in for an outstanding year once again. The teams they saw in the summer at this tourney with some 5 star QBs (including the #1 rated QB in the country in Cartersville, GA whose team happens to be rated #14 in nation as mid size school with BG being #10) solidified Clark's place as one of the greatest QBs BG has seen. Rather than splitting hairs over Clark Payne vs Devin Hayes - how many schools would love to have those 2 QBs back to back! Keep up the good work BG - if we didn't have to play some of the games we play (district) and could replace those with other schools, are rankings would go much higher.

Christian County has some good weapons to use against BG and a coaching staff that is smart enough to know how to create a close game. Knowing and doing are two separate things. They know to use the play clock to their advantage They know how to try to keep BG offense off the field They know what players on BG needs to be shadowed They know a lot but is it enough to stop the Purples from doing their thing. Im a bit bias but im not sure the perfect gameplan vs BG would be enough to stop the purples. The Purples have great potential to score on almost every possession. Not sure County can do that. I do think Christian County has best chance of any 5A club due to their offensive schemes Want to see how good little Vito is for BG? I say he will match up vs their D1 recruit and will more than hold his own against him. Caruthers for BG may break the scoring record this Friday night. Should be an entertaining game 55-15 Purples

Need a 4 class system with only 5 teams in each class getting in playoffs with the 1 seed in each class getting a bye. This would not require a 5 week playoff and would allow winners of each class to then faceoff for an overall state champion. Will never happen but should

Final. Running clock late second quarter. Stats for Purples were crazy. First 3 touches for Caruthers were 3 TDs for right at 200 yards. Statistically, could be Clark Paynes best (1 half of play) Ready for next week

As you all know I have been a BG guy for many moons. You all have heard me say throughout the year that the only way to beat the Purples is with the pass. No way they lose against the run, especially running east, west. Purples D line and linebackers are way to experienced and fast to the ball. Not sure how you can measure a D line as a unit but this has to be one of the best D lines in the Bluegrass over the past several seasons. After the first 4 weeks of the year the coaching staff realized what they thought was going to be a weakness turned out to be a great strength in the defensive backfield for the Purples. Our corners and safeties has really been the unsung heroes of the season. When Purples laid one on Christian County earlier in the year it proved to be a very positive outlook on the season. Jackson Adams at Greenwood is a great QB but again the running game vs the Purples is simply going to fail. The best chance vs the Purples IMO is again, Christian County. They are an improved ballclub and their QBs arm can beat you. Yes, I think the Purples get another ring but in my opinion, just look at the teams they play in the playoffs. If that team is a running team, it will be a running clock by halftime. If the opponent is a passing team I think the Purples still get a running clock but it will be later in the game. I guess everyone is a little biased about their perspective team. People across the state just have to know how special this Bowling Green team is. Although St X was not on top of their game the night they played the purples, Bowling Green still put up 31 points. I predict they will score 50 points (or more) MAYBE BY HALFTIME every week of the playoffs. A running team will be lucky to get 2 scores and a passing team will be lucky to get 3 scores against BG.
