BGHS is anxious to begin their quest of another championship season. Certainly, they take a step or two back from last season's team but this years squad is wanting to prove to the state that they belong! Perhaps BG lost as much or more significant players in starting lineup than anyone in the state. 15 starters (3 of which were top skill guys). If they can manage a state championship this year it would be a farce if Coach Wallace doesn't win coach of the year. As far as Saturday night contest is concerned, I think North Hardin will be in for a long night. Purples will look to mark their territory and make a statement to all 5A schools. I said 2 years ago that he saw it coming. Not a slam, just the facts Bowling Green High will face this in 3 years from now. Highlands will get their swagger back but it will be a couple of more years, IMO

Game report for Purples in a nutshell. Very few, if any, coaching staffs will outmatch Purples Staff Purples Defense will get better every week. Beau BuCANNON is going to be a gamer. Although this was a scrimmage, Louisville Male is not a slouch. For the first time on the field he looked very good, very accurate and will have several long ball TDs this year. Defensive line needs some work. First 3 games this season (North Hardin, PRP, St. X) will grow them up pretty fast. Vito Tisdale is truly a remarkable athlete. I think he will be a featured player not only across our state but throughout country in next couple of years. I would encourage anyone that hasn't seen him play to tune in to purplesnation.com sometime this year. For 15 new helmets on the field and to handle Male like they did was impressive to say the least.

Dingle has been named as 1st Team All-American by Maxpreps for their Mid-Sized School preseason report. This is a great accolade for a young man that the coaches say is just as solid off the field as he is on the field. Committed to Georgia Tech, Dingle is primed for a great season and will be relied on heavily by the defensive coaching staff as he will be the anchor this year for the Purples "Jungle D"

Their preseason ranking is just that, preseason. I never said they would get trophies but will choose to stick to my prediction in the fact they will win majority of games with a handful being by a running clock.

Weeks 2 and 3 (vs PRP and vs St X) for the Purples will be their biggest threats of getting an "L" in their last 27 games. I know Christian County pushed them (Purples just had a complete meltdown in 1 quarter against them - but bounced back strong for the Win) PRP will be the best team Purples has faced in several games that will match up with them athlete to athlete. 8 out of 10 regular season games the Purples just simply outrun everyone. Speed is hard to beat at any level, especially High School. PRP will match Purples speed. If Purples win it (it will be a tough game) they will win it with our coaching schemes and off the talent of a few studs on the team, namely Tisdale. St X (week 3 for Purples) will (and probably can) just push the Purples D-line off the ball. It has been several years since our D-Line has been this young. Not a good year to have a newby D-Line against the corn fed boys of X. X goal will simply be to keep our offense off the field. I don't think X will be able to stop our offense. This will be the game of the year for our new QB. If he (Beau BuCANNON) can have a good game vs X, I like our chances 2 huge games for the Western KY part of the state in my opinion. Anyone available to go see these two games, you should do it. If by chance Purples go 3-0 (will be tough), Good night Irene!
