Callpreps has him rated #1 in state in 2020 class and in their national ranking listed top 50 As I mentioned earlier, I am assumingoing he is not playing until his all American 9th grade football game is over (1st week of January). Really not sure. I do know that my prediction should come true that I made a couple of years ago. He will be highest recruit BGHS has ever had. Robert Reynolds so far holds that record but Vito will pretty much be able to pick where he wants to go. This region ever so often will get a big lineman (Elam, Lacey) that will get great offers but not too often do we have a skill player from this area get multiple big school offers. If he continues to do well in the all American games and continues to get offers early I believe he will become a 5 star before he graduates. Will be fun to keep up with

Purples get the win but does struggle in game. The 8th grader, Zion Harmon, is nursing a hip injury and is a slow go right now. I am assuming that Vito Tisdale will not participate until after his game at the Army All-American football game in San Antonio, TX. Should be full strength this time next month

Bowling Green Purples Lots of jokes over the years about the "Purples" although some talk about the purple spirit as the mascot, the name "Purples" was named after the color of the 1st place ribbon (Purple). Not many are aware of this fact but it is what it is.

Everyone likes a winner. His football accolades speak for themself. How cool is this: Honor student, senior class favorite, Coach Wallace tries not to pick favorites but on numerous occasions has stated Caruthers is near the top of his list, will serve our country, will study to become a dentist, hopes to practice dentistry back in Bowling Green. Not bad for an 18 year old kid. Awesome

Like all teams, BG will probably lay an egg or two during the season but how impressive to score nearly 100 points in each of the first 2 games and then travel to Hoptown where it very difficult to get a win and they beat them by 25 while still playing without 2 key players. Pretty impressive

It may not mean a lot to many people but on his Twitter account is Bible verses. I saw no vulgar words or crazy posting of wild videos. Refreshing to see a young man that seems to have his head on straight. Hoping that is an accurate assessment and that his attitude continues on in this journey.

Two games into the season and Zion and the Purples look very good. Averaging 98 points per with Harmon averaging 21. Again, only 2 games in but looking solid. Harmon is really good. Confident jumper (crazy high % from 3), as good of handles as you will ever see for an 8th grader and has done well getting others involved. Should have a great year with a spectaclar team. Fun to watch!

Wishing the Purples and the Pirates could somehow play against one another a year or two. I think both programs respect one anothers rich history. Both teams would win and/or lose the matchup but would remain classy in victory or defeat. Thanks for posting. Unfortunately, not all programs have the quality coaches that a Belfry or a Bowling Green has. Not just x and o's but coaches who helps mold kids into productive young men. Would love to see them play!

I was on the coaching staff of Vito, Sr when he was at the Jr High. Showing my age. As he is known, "Little Vito" really is a remarkable player. Everyone has heard the statement, "the ceiling is high" and for little Vito it is VERY high. For a few years now he has been on the national scene with his invite to the Army allstar game in both his 7th and 8th grade year. As an 8th grader he was the defensive player of game and finished 2nd in their national ranking of middle school players. Vito has also been invited to play as a 9th grader as well. This exposure is what has allowed many eyeballs to watch him. Several schools (all majors) are in contact with him. I know for sure Jimbo at FSU has been writing him as has a handful of others. He has the size to play several positions. Of couse in high school (around here anyway) a player like that it doesnt matter the position. I know as an 8th grader he had 2100 yards, averaging 20 yards a carry. It was a bit ridiculous. Coach Wallace utilized him perfectly his freshman year as a corner. This is strictly a guess but I bet a wooden nickle that I am correct. I say that as a frosh, playing varsity he had more INTs than any other in Purple history, as a frosh more tackles playing varsity, as a frosh had the most rushing yards playing varsity and as a frosh scored more points than anyone who played varsity. Meaning, as a frosh he is #1 in several categories playing varsity. My hunch is that this will continue in the coming years. Ive been a Purple for a while and dont recall any freshman getting D1 offers. Again, the question is what position(s) does he play next season? Wallace is not a huge fan of playing kids both ways. As i mentioned earlier, whatever position he lands at he will excel. Im guessing in college (pending his grades, behavior...) he will be used on defense. I just think at this level you have to put the ball in his hands. Will be great to watch. He is a 4.5 40 right now. My guess is he will be a 4.4 as a senior in a few years. He has nice height and very high football IQ (God given talent that he didnt learn from a coach). Being a Purple, with Coach Wallace and Spader is the best thing for him. His skills will only improve. He needs to continue to stay healthy, continue to stay in the classroom and continue toconduct himself well. If those things happen he will be like a Michael Bush, Shawn Alexander type player out of highschool. What he does with it from there will be up to him. Many are very happy and excited to see how the coming years pan out for him. Looking forward to it!

Consider this: Jamale Caruthers did his thing (look at his stats again) on a team that passed the ball nearly 3 times more than they ran the ball. Meaning, Caruthers was not their number 1 option on the majority of each individual play. Yes, he caught ball out of the backfield many times but was still not the #1 target on vast majority of plays. Of course, the ball was in the hands of both QB candidates on every play and the vast majority of the plays that Pulaski ran, Johnson was the #1 option. This is why I feel Caruthers should win Mr Football. He should not be penalized for being on a team with so many offensive weapons where many times he was not even the #1 target; nevermind the fact that he sat out the vast majority of the 2nd half of most of his games due to running clock My prediction is of the 4 candidates, he touched the ball less and of the 4 candidates he was on the field less. My pick, Mr Caruthers

Did not run score up at all. You cant help it if you score 2 TDs at end of game on crazy special team plays. Very special team. IMO, best BG team to date. You have an A+ athlete and person in the running back, Caruthers (5tds with 239 all purpose yards), a record breaking QB in Clark Payne, best hands around in Deangelo, arguably the fastest kid in the state with Kenner, 2 stoppers on the Dline in Cofer and Dingle, the highest future recruit BG will have in 3 more years in Tisdale, the best offensive play caller around and the best defensive coaches (especially in 2nd halves of games) and you have the makings of an unreal team. Great season. We will miss our Dline and some stud skill players but the future is very bright in Purple land. Awesome season gang! State Champs, again...

Freshman Vito Tisdale will have his hands full guarding the Johnson kid. Im sure any Pulaski fan is happy to hear that a frosh will guard him. Just know he is not your typical freshman. Was rated the 2nd best Middle School player in America at the Army allstar game in Texas. Defensive player of game. Very good defender. Johnson will get his but he will have his best opponent he has faced all year lining up against him Sunday night. Will be fun Purples. Running clock.

This will never happen (but it should). Warren Central has as nice of a field as you will see in the bluegrass. Although their stands are not that great, atleast it would be near full capacity. For me, i like a meaningful game (state championship) to be played in front of a packed house. I would choose to play in a venue with standing room only than a stadium that is 80% empty

Looking forward to next weekends game between the teams of color! Maroons back on the carpet along with the Purples. Best matchup in game will no doubt be Mr Johnson against the stud Freshman, Vito Tisdale. That matchup alone will be worth admission. BG is just too much to handle right now. Weapons on offense at every skill position along with one of the headiest QBs in the state in Clark Payne. I think if Pulaski plays their best offensively they score 3 TDs. If Purples play their best offensively they score 7 or 8 TDs. Purples 55 Pulasi 20

Just got home. Purples win easily but for whatever reason was just a bit out of sync a bit. Yes, Payne had some nice TD throws and Caruthers gets 3 scores but they were not on top of their game tonight. Shows you how good they really are. Defense bent a bit but never broke. Creek scored toward end of game on our subs. Season ends next Sunday night, where it began: on the turf at WKU. Not sure anyone beats Purples on a fast field. Congrats to Pulaski for making it back. Ill make my prediction on another thread. Great job of keeping your cool at end of game, Purples. Jamale Caruthers is all class. Very late hit near end of game. Most kids (even other BG kids) would have come up swinging. Caruthers gets up and pitches ball to ref without even looking at the kids that hit him out of bounds and jogs back to the huddle. Purples will miss him next season. Very classy young man.

He really did a great job again this year. As far as the game is concerned, if Purples can hang on to the ball, I really like their chances. Very special team with very gifted players. Fern Creek has some very impressive defensive stats (especially the 18 fumble recoveries), that has to be close to a record. I love playing opponents with team speed. I think it makes our guys even play fastr. It usually doesnt take the crowd long to see how fast the Purples team speed really is. Should be fun. Im still very high on the Purples (shocker, I know) and am calling a running clock late in the game. Good luck to both teams. Stay healthy and warm!
