Congrats to the Purples on the W and to the Tiger seniors on a very good season!

If everyone has been following along this in Class 5A this just goes to show you just how good the Bowling Green program is every year. My point is, for every other school in 5A, playing Bowling Green is a big step up.

And I am sensing a Purple Feast

Just got home. Purples win easily but for whatever reason was just a bit out of sync a bit. Yes, Payne had some nice TD throws and Caruthers gets 3 scores but they were not on top of their game tonight. Shows you how good they really are.

Defense bent a bit but never broke. Creek scored toward end of game on our subs.

Season ends next Sunday night, where it began: on the turf at WKU. Not sure anyone beats Purples on a fast field.

Congrats to Pulaski for making it back. Ill make my prediction on another thread.

Great job of keeping your cool at end of game, Purples.

Jamale Caruthers is all class. Very late hit near end of game. Most kids (even other BG kids) would have come up swinging. Caruthers gets up and pitches ball to ref without even looking at the kids that hit him out of bounds and jogs back to the huddle. Purples will miss him next season. Very classy young man.

Congrats BG! Go represent WKY and get that hardware!

Purple fans: just out of curiosity, how do you think OHS stacks up with Fern Creek? Oh and congrats on your state title once again. It's a formality at this point

I agree BG was a bit off of their high octane gear, but that's likely not taking into account it was pretty darn cold for the first time this season and Fern Creek is an excellent football team.

BG on offense didn't connect on a few plays that could have extended this score, but utilized Carothers to manage the game hitting Wilson, Brown, Kenner, Stickler (wow that is a lot of weapons) downfield.

On defense, the Purples played Very well. Yes, they gave up a couple good FC runs and a jump ball in the end zone that the FC WR made an awesome catch on. BGs DLine was Great and CB Vito Tisdale made great plays on what should have been a Pick 6 but he fell on his own.

For Fern Creek fans, especially @Pete W, tip of the hat to the Fern Creek Tigers on a great season. No shame in losing to this BG team. You have some excellent players and hope you have another good season next year!

That was a fun game to watch. I thought the Purples looked good. Yes, the offense seemed to have some malfunctions at times and didn't score like a lot of us thought they would. But they still looked pretty good and FC was tough.

BG's defense was great. I didn't realize FC had a QB who couldn't throw the ball.....at all. Seriously, was missing little wide-open screen passes. Any team that can't at least pass some is in trouble from the start facing BG.

Maybe the stats don't back this up and maybe I am the only person who thinks this, but BG's kickoff return has worried me all season. They just seem to give up way too many yards on kickoffs.

Congrats go out to Coach Wallace and all the Purples. Unbelievable run and back in the state finals. I don't know much about Pulaski, I am looking forward to the game. Go Purples!

58,

You ask a difficult question in comparing O to FC. Thinking about how each played their most recent games vs BG, I would give you this to ponder:

Board and Kyree Hawkins neutralize each other out.

I think the Owensboro OLine is a little better than the FC DLine, so I think Owensboro would have some success running the ball, but FC has excellent LBs with speed so it would be interesting.

For Fern Creek, they would really test the Owensboro D to the edge with Hawkins, Blincoe and Durrah. They would have opportunities here, but it is a run dominated offense so Owensboro would also have success. Fern Creek was forced to basically go to a pass game that relied on throwing the ball up and letting their athletes go get it and they had some success against BG with this, but they also had 2 INTs and I think Phillips and Owsley would have an opportunity for the same here.

Kicking - Nick Brake hands down is the best kicker. But #9 Durrah for FC would be the most dangerous returner.

Coaching - I think that is even and both coaching staffs accounted themselves very well.

End of the day - my gut feel says Owensboro would win on a neutral field by less than a TD barring many turnovers and special teams TDs because of the likely ability to control the clock and wear you down with their offensive style in a low scoring game.

Killowatt,

GREAT to meet you last night!

On this specific item, I would offer that you aren't giving Fern Creek enough credit here as #9 Durrah for Fern Creek can flat out fly and made some incredible plays for the Tigers last night. Just my thoughts. Sometimes players make plays...
