Young Purples win again. 3-0. Yet to be scored on this season

Perhaps this game could be the most anticipated regular season game for the Purples in recent history. The big schools out of Tennessee and another game or two here and there, some may argue but this Friday night game is huge for BG. A "must win" may be too big of a statement to make but that is how serious this game is for these young guys. I, for one, am actually glad the Red Devils are riding high coming into this game. If BG wins in a convincing fashion would have to be a pretty big blow to Devils coaching staff. If 5A is going to make a run in taking title away from BG, it probably needs to happen this year. If BG wins in convincing fashion, I think most 5A teams knows beating them may not be as easy as they think. Purples 42 Devils 17

Perfect write up. Great writeup and research for each game/team. As a Purples fan, I think they could use a game where they could win by a blow out. They're not used to being not only beat but statistically getting hammered. They may have to wait another week but some big wins in the coming Fridays could be what the doctor ordered. Again, we (Purple folk) knew week 2 and 3 was going to be a tall order for 15 new helmets on the field. Although we came away with 2 losses, Purples won the second half of both of those games. IMO, the only team in state that goes 3-0 against BGs first 3 opponents is Trinity. The fact that BG went down swinging in both losses is a good sign. Its been a decade since BG has been this banged up. I'm ready for the stretch of games where our #1s can be pulled at halftime. All that to say, Purples may or may not finish atop the charts in regular season but they should be rested, primed and ready to make a run in November. Regardless of their record they are still 5A champs.

Always appreciate the X family. All class. You guys could have scored again but kept it classy. Its been many a moon that Purples have been 1-2 to start out year. I know that Owensboro, South Warren, Christian County and most importantly Covington Catholic are licking their chops. We, the Purples, may be coming back to reality in this remarkable 6 or 7 year run but make no mistake about it, we're not quite ready to throw in the towel. Purples will always go down swinging. 21-0 at the half and we more than held their own in second half. 5A teams and fans, be prepared. Its getting ready to get interesting. I still believe

No brainer for me. A highly anticipated High School football game to me is about as good as it gets in all of sports. Fan bases on social media and message boards, media attention leading up to game, newspaper previews all contribute to the hype. On night of game. Crowds showing up, small kids playing two hand touch, smoke from the grills hovering over stadium, proud alumnus catching up with one another before kickoff. The list could go on. Football. All levels of football, is great. For my money, ill take highschool football.

Coach Wallace at BGHS is perhaps the best I've seen with posting statistical information at appropriate sites. He is awesome at doing that.

Not trying to ruffle feathers but out of curiosity, how many of the 10 is Private?

We're nearing 7 inches of rain where I am at. Hard to imagine 50 inches in Houston. Crazy!

In 2 games, BGHS Freshman has scored 77 and their opponents 0. Good start.

I don't think we are talking about a "normal rain." IMO it is the right decision to find the best projected time during the weekend to play. Forecast may still be off a few hours but the rain is coming. 5 to 7 inches in 48 hours expected in our neck of woods.

I know this won't happen but it would be awesome if they could move it to Saturday and play it before the WKU game. Doesn't hurt to dream...

So what is the rule(s) concerning weather. I know the thunder, lightning deal but what if it is delayed to the point of not being able to be played Friday night? Would they move it to the next day? I don't see St X going back and forth down I65. I know that if it cant be played Friday night that there would be a chance they wouldn't/couldn't make it up. This goes for lots of games throughout the state this Friday night. Hurricane remnants should be in the area at that time. I honestly hope the Purples/X game (and all other games) is able to be played but A.D.'s best be talking to one another. Forecast across most of state looks suspect. Rain - no biggie. Thunder - game changer!

Of course I will pick the Purples but they may not be able to pull it off this year. Just because they may lose again, the sky is still not falling. When was the last time that the Logan County Cougars had a better record than the Purples? The Purples will get their mojo back real soon. Will it be this Friday night? Maybe, maybe not. Will they be competitive each and every night they are on the field? Absolutely. Whatever your high school team is, would you want to be 85-4 since 2011 and your "bad year" in the middle of that run is to only have 2 or 3 losses in 1 season of 8+ seasons? Ill let you answer that one!

BGHS Purples needed to drop in their ranking. Although PRP statistically took them to the woodshed, the Purples still managed to get it to a 7 point difference in 4th quarter. Good coaching as well as a handful of big plays when big plays were needed. I think this team (Purples) needs to remember that this stretch of tough games will make them stronger. I have full faith in their coaching staff to capture their attention and I think it will be fun to notice how they will get stronger each week. Great job, P88. Your work is greatly appreciated

Long night. Just returned from game. The kenk in the armor was exposed tonight for the Purples. Our O Line and D line (very green on both sides) got it handed to them tonight. BG QBs numbers, although bad tonight, was mainly due to pocket around him collapsing. PRP was just better tonight. It will be interesting to see how we respond. St X folks are probably a bit relieved tonight seeing how our lines struggled. BG will certainly need to play their "A" game with minimal mistakes. With all that said, we knew going in that weeks 2 and 3 were going to be tough for these youngsters. Coaches will rally them. 5A will be competitive this year. Teams are licking their chops now that the Purples weakness was exposed. I still fully believe that we will get better as year goes on. Still proud of these guys. They didn't give up. They still have a championship ring or 2 in their near future. IMO

If Purples can pull out a "W" tonight would be very suprising. PRP working our young line pretty good. Major adjustments needed

Bowling Green Purples Freshman Team is really good. Almost won state as 8th graders (granted several teams opted out). Eli Burwash is a Mr Everything kind of kid. He will make name for himself next year. Dez Wilson, little brother of Deangelo Wilson, is going to be a great athlete. Justice Dingle little brother is also a stud freshman. The kid is growing like a weed. Probably pushing 6'2 or 6'3 and may still be growing. Great receiver As many folks know, the Purples are on incredible run. 85-3 since 2011. This years freshman class will have an awesome 4 year record at BG. This season through 2021 is looking like the Purple Train will keep rolling.
