What are your thoughts on the final Bluegrasspreps Class 5A rankings of 2016? Can anyone surprise Bowling Green? Is the Covington Catholic the only team with a chance? Who else can? Who will surprise us in the playoffs? Who is capable of an upset?

Nobody is going win a shoot out with BG this year. You going to have to win with defense and keep the score in the low 20's.. One will need some luck and have the ball bounce your way. Don't think BG has had more than 1 turnover n a single game this year.. Can't let them take a early unmanageable lead early. Special teams need to play good and maybe get a break in that part of the game.. This is a special team you don't have to play perfect but you have to play real good and don't turn the ball over.. Keep the score close and see how they play late when it's still a game.

I think Covington Catholic is the only team that has a chance to stay with the Purples and I think it's a slim chance. They give up way way too many points. Bowling Green is playing some very good football right now and I just don't see anyone in 5A being able to stay with them for four quarters.

The longer this season has went:

- The more I have appreciated Bowling Green's team and I am even starting to think maybe I was wrong when I said Trinity would win decidedly. This BG team not only lacks a weakness,, I am not sure there is even a position unit that I wouldn't say is playing great. Love their offense with their threats at WR, Payne throwing the ball, and Carothers running. Best Offensive team in KY hands down.

- CovCath, IMHO, may be the only team that can upset BG but they will need some help from the Purples and will need to play their best game. In Horse Racing terms CovCath is the only horse in the race that has been competing against G1 competition. Even then BG looks like American Pharoah and CovCath's only hope is to be Keen Ice on the right day when AP doesn't run his best race.

- It is almost laughable how weak the East is. Southwestern is the favorite I am not sure I could see them getting out of a Regional Final in the West and depending on the District, possibly not even past the 2nd Round. (Christian Co, Dixie Heights, or Greenwood all three could beat them potentially)

- Owensboro is the only Wild Card I see that could do something crazy and win a Title. I don't think wensboro has proven though that they have the clout to step up to a giant and play 4 solid Quarters of Defense to get the job done though. They are a wild card though because I could also see them getting smacked in Round 2 by Greenwood as they fail to even take off.

Since we are using horses, after all this is Kentucky, I would say Christian County has the horses to run stride for stride. Unfortunately for Christian it's not a horse race and there is a psychologic element to football that seems to be holding this team back. So as a County homer I'd have to tread on the side of reason and agree with Cov Cath

As you all know I have been a BG guy for many moons. You all have heard me say throughout the year that the only way to beat the Purples is with the pass. No way they lose against the run, especially running east, west. Purples D line and linebackers are way to experienced and fast to the ball. Not sure how you can measure a D line as a unit but this has to be one of the best D lines in the Bluegrass over the past several seasons.

After the first 4 weeks of the year the coaching staff realized what they thought was going to be a weakness turned out to be a great strength in the defensive backfield for the Purples. Our corners and safeties has really been the unsung heroes of the season.

When Purples laid one on Christian County earlier in the year it proved to be a very positive outlook on the season. Jackson Adams at Greenwood is a great QB but again the running game vs the Purples is simply going to fail. The best chance vs the Purples IMO is again, Christian County. They are an improved ballclub and their QBs arm can beat you.

Yes, I think the Purples get another ring but in my opinion, just look at the teams they play in the playoffs. If that team is a running team, it will be a running clock by halftime. If the opponent is a passing team I think the Purples still get a running clock but it will be later in the game.

I guess everyone is a little biased about their perspective team. People across the state just have to know how special this Bowling Green team is. Although St X was not on top of their game the night they played the purples, Bowling Green still put up 31 points. I predict they will score 50 points (or more) MAYBE BY HALFTIME every week of the playoffs. A running team will be lucky to get 2 scores and a passing team will be lucky to get 3 scores against BG.

I'm with you on most of it, right up to the 50 points or more "maybe" by halftime. They're not getting to 50 by the half against anyone past Marshall County. They're a fantastic and all but unstoppable team, but they didn't do that to every bad team they beat, let alone the good ones. Let's ground it just a tad!

What I am interested to see is whether BG can score enough to push their season average over 50 PPG by the time it's all done. They're at 48.6 PPG now.

Really doubtful anyone beats BG this year, but I just can't say they will get a running clock against everyone in 5A, especially before halftime
