Best Bowling Green Area Game This Week?

Featured Replies

What is the game to watch?

Depends on how wide your radius is. Hopkinsville is about an hour from here, but features by far the best game in an hour radius with South Warren visiting Hopkinsville. If you shrink that to a half hour and in, it's really Christian County at Bowling Green, though it's not likely to be a great game. AC/S is at Franklin-Simpson, DeSales is at Glasgow, Campbellsville is at Russellville, and that's it for the true Bowling Green area. If you're willing to travel just a little bit further, you really should see that South Warren/Hoptown matchup.

Watusi,

When you say BG "area" game, how wide is that area?

BG is at home, but the next closest game is in Franklin. Russellville is at home. Greenwood travels up the parkway to battle the Red Devils in Owensboro. OCATH is at home in O as well. Do those games count?

I agree with Dragonfire as to South Warren at Hopkinsville.

Easy drive from BG to Hoptown and The Stadium of Champions.

Probably the most viewer friendly High School stadium in the state.

Do I dare make the 4 hour drive to Hoptown? I've had my eyes on this potential matchup for weeks.

Pretty narrow LOL. Realistically, within 20-30 minutes of BG. I guess that leaves BG/Christian or Franklin Simpson/ACS.

I'm looking at the Hopkinsville/South Warren winner at Franklin-Simpson next week as a potential game to go see.

So if I end up at Bowling Green / Christian Co, what do I need to know? Gimme the first time visitor's fan guide.

Where to park, how early to get there, any special concessions to be aware of, are there plenty of restrooms (for Mrs 2C) etc.?

Oh, and do they sell Kettle Corn? @gchs_uk9

Only the most important questions first!

You will enjoy. There will be plenty of parking. Sometimes the ticket window(s) get backed up. If you are making the effort to get to Bowling Green, why miss kickoff? I would arrive on BG campus by or before 6:40pm central time.

Typical concessions. If you want to eat in Bowling Green before the game, a Bowling Green establishment is Rafferty's. Restaurant is located on Scottsville Road, located less than 5 minutes from Purple land. Great menu. Go with the Ultimate Club: better be hungry.

Purples stadium is all on the same side of the field. Sit near the 50 yard line. A little higher up than midway and you will have great seats. Need more info? Let me know - enjoy!

Great name on the Stadium also.:ylsuper:

2C,

Are you coming to El Donaldson Stadium? If yes, I want to say hello.

Back to the real stuff, I think you should come to the BG/Christian County game over the Franklin/Allen County Scottsville game because Christian County is better than Allen County for sure.

I like to get there early to watch the teams warm up and because of this I never have a problem with parking as there is a lot of parking around the main school building and the stadium. I usually park by the tennis courts. I would encourage you to get there early unless you are concerned for Mrs 2c's longevity for the night as it is expected to be chilly (40s I think) so some strategy should be considered here.

I know you are a state championship game (at WKU) veteran so you have good overall familiarity with the city. My recommendation for dinner is Doubledogs for a Sports bar (right about a mile from the stadium. Although Roosters is a close 2nd as its always less crowded but further away from stadium but less expensive. I would go with PNations Raffertys call to impress Mrs 2C if needed.

Now let's get to it! When you walk into the El, you walk in from high to low and can see the whole field as you walk in. There are concessions as you get to the edge of the stadium with typical concession stand fare, but I honestly don't get much from there so I can't give you a great assessment of it,but am told the hot dogs and popcorn are really good but I'm unsure either way of kettle corn - sorry! But the hot chocolate should be flowin Friday night.

The restrooms are located behind the stadium and are serviceable. I personally haven't been in the women's restroom but feel it would be the same way. Although I'd recommend you go at the restaurant before you leave there as good strategy!

As PNation mentioned, predominantly all seating is on 1 side of the field. The visiting section is corded off at about their 45 yard line. Most seasoned fans sit near the 50 and up a little bit to get a great view of the field. My only complaint of El Donaldson stadium is the PA system is not very good. Don't understand it but it's not as clear as it should be for a program like BG has.

If you have one I would recommend your Belfry stadium chairs to sit on as it is all bleacher seats across the board.

It Is a great place to watch a game and I hope you and Mrs 2C can make it! If you have other questions, please ask.:thumb:
