I certainly wish! lol I don't see Collins keeping this one close. They have a lot of young guys playing that are still trying to figure things out. Collins has quite a few talented players but they have yet to put it all together. Boyle County is the best team in 3A, so the outcome of this game will have a lot to do with how good Boyle is, not necessarily that Collins is a bad team.

I love the Titans, but they're not winning this one. Hope they can keep it respectable.

I don't think the Mustangs get shutout, but they will lose their 3rd game in a row.

The Rockets are 4-0 after winning just 3 games last season.

It's worth noting that Collins was without a few key players in this game. Sophomore RB Nasean Roseberry was out. He is averaging 121 yards a game. Linebacker Nick Eades who is averaging 11 tackles a game was also out, among a few others. However, it was turnovers that did the Titans in. You can't turn the ball over as much as Collins did an expect to win. You have to like the way they didn't give up and fought to the end though. Things get a lot tougher after this bye week. There will be no weeks off for the Titans as they have a difficult schedule ahead.

Ok, I was thinking since Central Hardin was included in the Louisville area that Elizabethtown would be too.

Yep, those two certainly worked their way out of the discussion tonight. However, I do think Elizabethtown has made a pretty strong case for themselves and could be deserving of a spot.

Final As good as Collins has been, the Titans have never started a season 3-0. After taking a quick 14-0 lead, Collins fell behind 49-21 in the 4th before storming back and falling just short. Dalton Maggard had 208 yards receiving for the Titans, who will be off next Friday.

So Collins is ranked 6th in 4A but Martha Layne Collins is receiving votes?? Did the votes not get added up correctly and should they be ranked higher?

I don't think North Oldham and Collins are far superior to Spencer and Shelby this year. Both Collins and North are somewhat rebuilding and Shelby and Spencer have started off hot. District 4 is going to be very competitive this year because there is no elite team in the district like there has been in the past (no Atherton or Waggener automatic wins either). Anyone can beat anyone else. I'm interested to see how all these teams stack up against better competition, because so far the competition hasn't been the best. Right now if I had to pick someone to put in the Metro Top 10 it would probably be North at #10 . I just don't see any reason at all to put Spencer in the top 10 right now. If they end up winning a few district games then there is definitely reason to think they deserve a spot, but right now, nothing tells me they are one of the 10 best teams in the Louisville Metro, and certainly not better than Central Hardin.

Spencer County has no business being on this list, especially above Central Hardin. It would be a blow out if they played. They should have a good record this year thanks to a weak schedule, and they will definitely be a player in their district, but I don't see any reason to think they are Top 10 in the Louisville Metro.

Collins lead 28-0 after the 1st quarter thanks to 3 TD passes from JR Lucas and an INT return by Zachary Smith. JR Lucas had 4 TD passes total, 3 to Dalton Maggard. Nasean Roseberry rushed 10 times for 140 yards and 2 TDs. Collins plays Eastern next Friday in their home opener.

Defensively Collins should be fine. However, the offense needs a ton of help. Yes they are young at skill positions but they have to get better if they are going to win some games this year. They can't afford to leave points on the field by making mistakes.

They we're picked to finish 5th in a fairly tough district. I don't see them making much noise in 4A.

Obviously both teams struggled offensively. Collins had 155 yards rushing and 145 passing. Nasean Roseberry was named MVP of the game after rushing for 102. Montgomery County only had 140 yards of offense. The Titans are at Bullitt East Friday night.

Final The Titans open up the season next Saturday at Montgomery County.

For Collins, Jay Becherer will actually be at Elizabethtown this year. However, Quintin Murphy returns after sitting out last season due to injury. He started at safety on the state championship team as a sophomore and was huge for that defense. He is expected to get more time on offense this year as running back. While Collins continues to improve on their passing game, they should be able to run the ball well with such an experienced O-line and Nasean Roseberry and Murphy in the backfield.

Carson Murray won quite a few games for Collins in the circle last season (including vs. Butler, Anderson County, and 2 region tournament games) as an 8th grader and was just as good at the plate.

Shelby County has their baseball/softball/soccer fields all in the sports complex by Clear Creek Park. The complex is owned by SCPS and that is where Shelby County plays their games since there is no room for those fields at the school. Collins has their own fields on campus. The problem was actually with the turf. I think there were problems with the drainage and it was closed during the 2nd year of the school and reinstalled.

Shelby County Public Schools had no problem with giving Collins a turf field while Shelby County still has grass. Of course, the turf field was installed with the construction of a brand new school, but still.

Collins has a great incoming class of freshman that dominated their conference at the middle school level. A lot of them saw varsity playing time as 8th graders. Trinity Warfield and Carson Murray stand out but Jeian Hayes, Hallie Renfro, and Mary Clare Megibben among others should all contribute. Their point guard will likely be Olivia Federle who averaged over 6 points a game last year as a 7th grader.
