I would disagree with you. Coaching is the reason why I think they will not win the region. Going to a zone does not make you an "elite level coach" that is just "coaching". SK got plenty of good looks against the zone inside and out. Grammer needs to coach more and cry to the officials and his asst coaches less. He has a nice squad and sometime his crying I thinks fuels the big lanky kid (sorry don't know his name) and gets him ready to rip someone's head off. And that is what they don't need. I thought Adkins done a nice job last night trying to keep the big kid calm in the 2nd half. Don't know what region officials are calling the 8th region but they may not look the other way as much as the 8th region does when he starts doing what he does.

Better team won last night, period. GC beat SK in every statistical category. SK came out of half time flat and that 9 point sprint GC went on was enough to seal the deal. SK didn't guard or rebound all night, if you can't stop dribble penetration and your bigs have to rotate over every trip down court it puts them out of position to rebound. When that happens your bigs have to work harder to battle for position and they didn't do it. Good luck to both team at Henry County.

I guess we will have to agree to disagree because I don't see that at all.

I can see HC making the region next year. They return everybody from this years team except Siebert. Another year in Schrand system will help them for sure. CC will be tough but don't see Holmes being a top team in the region next year. So I don't see why they couldn't make it.

Jackson County 76 North Laurel 73
Do the North Laurel kid stay or do they start transferring to other schools? They have a ton of talent and can't seem to win. You have to believe some of these kids are wanting to win.

Grant County 53 Walton-Verona 47
Ugly game as usual in the 8th Region. Refs letting holding, grabbing and kicking going on all night. But would call if you put two hands on someone. Grant made shots down the stretch and free throws. Walton kept fouling the wrong kids late in the game. The had the chance to foul the big kid for Grant a few times late and failed to. The one time they did, he missed both free throws. Clinkerbeard from Walton played great, kept his team close all night, just played smart basketball all night long. Should be a good one Friday night, SK/Grant in the finals.

Could Long Layoffs Lead to District Upsets?
I say yes. Some teams are doing two practices a day while others in the same districts hasn't seen the inside of a gym in a week. I see upsets coming next week.

All 8th Region Team and Coach of the Year
Isn't Gallatin County and Simon Kenton coaches both vice principles of their schools? Thinking of the coaches that I know personally, none are PE teachers. This statement is way out dated.

Anybody have a roster?

SK has been a little banged up all year. Mullins ankle, Racke and Walker concussion, Hawkins knee and Robinson been battling thru some stuff too. With a limited bench on a nightly basis, they will be inconsistent. If they get all those kids back in the next two weeks, they could go on a run.

Mullins hasn't played in two weeks. He must be slumping on the bench

No Mullins today. Team played tired and uninspired.

Four fouls the last few minutes of the game. Game was well officiated, had a solid crew last night at SK.

Ankle, could have played but decided to let him rest.

AAU Teams
The Shinning Stars is starting a KY division at the high school level and will have tryouts in March I believe. I know they have a coach coming from western Ky area and bringing some kids with him that are D1/D2 talent to go along with some of the better U17 NKY kids. Rumor is Ohmer is going to play up with that group.

They could call it every game on him.

Simon Kenton 91 Scott 77
Yes very physical, refs let this get out of hand early. Could have been a better game in the refs would have controlled the game early and set the tone. They had to know going into the game it's a rivalry game, if they didn't the assigner failed to do his job. Lots of talking and taunting in this game on both sides. Taunting is one of the rules they are suppose to enforce and wasn't all night. The atmosphere was great, hats off to both student section for showing up. Scott had no answer for SK size. Steiner drawing up that hi low play to begin the second half was a huge difference maker. They ran it several times to get Mullins the ball. Scott couldn't stop Mullins on the inside and Fries done a good job delivery the pass. Ohmer and Schneider both are as hard nose as they come. Schneider got to the rim and Ohmer got his shot off about any time he wanted to. In the end I believe the better team won. SK was bigger and deeper on the bench. I wouldn't want to have to play Scott in the regional tourney, they could beat anybody.

Peyton Broughton Picking Up Offers
A 15 year old soph has more potential to grow than a 17 year old. Wouldn't you agree?

Peyton Broughton Picking Up Offers
I watched him last night against Casey County. He Has good size and strength but if he is 17 already as soph he is probably done growing. He didn't guard anybody all night in the half court. His coach is doing him no favors by hiding him in a zone. I hope the Travelers coach makes him defend. He cherry picked a lot, never went to the defensive glass but with their size he really didn't have to. Clemson is a stretch for him.

Grant County 63 Holy Cross 50
I left unimpressed with Grant County. I thought HC looked tired and sluggish most of the game. If HC takes care of the ball and don't make the sloppy unforced turn over, they probably win.

Most 3 Pt FGA By One Player
If Todd Conley doesn't have the record it would be a miracle. I remember after the regional tournament a reporter asked him if he arm was hurting after shooting that many shots. Todd responded, "I have shot more than that before in one game".

Kid can shoot! Great work ethic.

Holy Cross at Simon Kenton Predictions 12/1
