During my time at Holmes there were red wooden bleachers on both sides of the field and it was surrounded by a cinder track. A silver painted iron railing ran almost all the way around as well. A tad dangerous maybe. The "thing" to do was to take a lap around the track during games just to see who was there. Even though we were usually pretty bad, there was always a crowd. This new field is just amazing. Extremely happy for the kids and fans of the Bulldogs.

Just got this note: Since Heritage will not be participating in the 9th Region All-A Classic, their game on Tuesday January 10th at 6:00 p.m. is cancelled. Thusly, the participants in the scheduled 7:30 contest, St. Henry versus Dayton, have agreed to move their game time up to the 6:00 p.m. slot. So, tomorrow, Tuesday January 10th, there will be one game played at 6:00 p.m. St. Henry versus Dayton. There are no other changes to the schedule.

I beg to differ here. Weighted to one side provides comfort and consistency. The REAL question here is do you weight them to the left or to the right? To the left is clearly for left wing liberal do-gooders content to give away everyone else's money to those who cannot get their own eggs under their own power. Those who weight them to the right are obviously power hungry bigots who see the world in narrow terms and would prefer to hoard their eggs for the coming war. Which are you?

You are taking extreme liberties with my response. I made no such inferences about any player or anyone's status as to where they are or were attending school. That wasn't even my point. I have personal, first hand, repeated experience with high school and AAU-type coaches who make college contacts for players and many, many experiences with those same college coaches (or programs) showing interest and even visiting. I did not say, nor even intimate, that any attention is the result of anything, only that you do not know if the interest STARTED with a coach's reference, phone call. email. whatever. Clearly you do not like the guy, that's painfully obvious, but throwing shade on the guy because of assumptions is poor. Not your style. You may be right, I don't know, and neither sir do you, for sure.

Now hold on a minute. I'm usually with you on most things, but you do NOT know that to be the case and certainly not in every case. I don't know Coach Stowers personally so I don't know what he does or doesn't do for or with his players but I'm certainly willing to give the benefit of the doubt here.

And therein lies your explanation. Whether it be impatient new administration or impatient heads above that, there seems to be a pattern emerging. Shame. Someone above hit the nail on the head about the complexity of coaching at the high school level concerning cyclical talent. Leadership that doesn't understand that complexity is poor leadership at best. Now, if there is more to the story then I stand corrected, but that doesn't appear to be the case here.

You could not be more correct. I love listening to those "wise" folks who think coaching at a small, especially urban, school is just a matter of "working harder." The challenges at these schools go far beyond skill level or commitment to winning. I neither know, nor want to know what created this situation, I just know that during his time at Dayton Coach Rogg cared about and for his players and his program. At the very least he is to be commended for that. This is a tough gig and one that will require the right person in order to be successful. I hope they find that person and then I hope they can retain them.

Briley has done it exactly the right way. He works hard, he is constantly improving is game and his conditioning, and he gets it done in the classroom. He is a good student and a tremendous young man. It is especially gratifying that he's going to go play for a person just like him and get a fabulous education to boot. Congratulations to Briley and his family.
