  1. Suspension stands. Apology directly to his teammates. He walks on senior night but, sorry, no jersey to wear. He forfeited that right for the two week suspension. Yes, kids make mistakes and show bad judgement. Another chance is absolutely warranted if there is true contrition and a desire to "make it right," but there are consequences to your actions.
  2. Also my go-to for breakfast on any day but especially Saturdays before a day game either in Ft. Mitchell or that school in Park Hills.
  3. I've been around awhile so maybe I haven't been paying attention, but why such a problem getting games? Obviously some kind of history but I don't know what that history is I guess.
  4. Generally, those throwing stones have another agenda when it comes to criticizing this or any other program. JUST LIKE ANY OTHER FAN BASE from any other school. Suggesting that there is a total lack of control in the UK program simply serves the agenda of those who would prefer to be critical. Same for UC basketball, same for Alabama football, yada, yada, yada. Spare me the "Holier than thou" criticism until the process is complete.
  5. In a vacuum, yes, your numbers are spot on. However when making these kinds of decisions there are so many factors involved that optimum school size only becomes one of them. I have absolutely no skin in the game and am just an outside observer so my questions are merely due to general interest.
  6. Just a question. Have any of the naysayers considered that this really has little to nothing to do with athletics? Maybe, just maybe, it has to do with academic opportunities and budgeting? Just asking for a friend.
  7. I just wanted to acknowledge the passing of Holmes alum Brandent Englemon. I know nothing of the circumstances, how, when or what, but I just know I met this young man as a high school player and he was an absolute gentlemen and class young man. This is a loss to the Holmes community. My sincere condolences to his family, friends and former teammates.
  8. I think this clearly relates to the diminishing numbers of officials in all sports and the difficulty in recruiting new, younger officials. I believe officials expect to hear coaches in their ear (within reason of course) but to hear some of the absolute abuse heaped on by some fans is ridiculous. I think you will see this approach (and even more stringent rules) become common practice in most school districts in the near future.
  9. Anything Looney tunes Top Cat
  10. I didn't know CCH had become a "single sport concentration" school. Hmmm, interesting. That should be in the sarcasm font.
  11. If I can't have both I ain't eatin',,
  12. Overrated - Hot Dogs. I'll take a street vendor dog from just about anywhere over these gas station rollers they're serving in most stadiums. Under rated - Beer. Period. OVERPRICED? that's a pick 'em in my book.
  13. You can add Adam Sandler to that list for me. Melissa McCarthy is somewhat tolerable in spots. The rest, not so much.
  14. Hardly. Certainly you can acknowledge the clear disparities between large schools and small schools, urban schools and county schools, public and private. Now I'm not saying you can address every aspect of "equality" of competition, that's impossible and even ludicrous to think, but to add to the advantages of the "more talent laden" teams by reducing or eliminating altogether a tactical opportunity (defense, stall, etc.) just makes the problem worse in my opinion. Calling it bad coaching is the real cop out. Easier to point fingers and play the blame game I guess than to address the root problem. This will, in my opinion, reduce even further the number of programs able to consistently compete for championships. But, either way, I'll still love high school basketball.
  15. I guess we'll just respectfully disagree on this point. What are your feelings on disenfranchising smaller, less populated schools even more so with this rule?
  16. Not at all what I said. I believe high school students need to learn ALL aspects of the game not just get up and down the floor and shoot against passive partial defense. And yes, I've been to a few AAU games in my time. Shot clock basketball simply does not promote defense, passing, understanding floor positioning (other than to set up for your shot) and much more. Also, I think this promotes the HAVE's to yet another level above the have-nots. You may not like slow-down basketball or precision offense, but that is what helps level the playing field for less talented and/or less populated programs. So if a shot clock is going to ever be a go in the high school game, then I believe you MUST classify the sport or just assume the same 5% of schools in the state will be the sole contenders.
  17. Yup. Exactly my point. BEYOND High School where the skill level and understanding of the game is much higher.
  18. First of all, it's not a "product." To whom are we selling this? Secondly, the whole idea is to teach the kids the game. There really are two sides to it, offense and defense. At a higher level with higher level skills, go ahead, fire away. Shot clock games really have little to no "strategy" as you suggest at the high school level. the team with the bigger, better athletes who can shoot, win the games. And no, I'm not the "what we're doing now works so let's not change" crowd. Want to effect change? Classify the sport.
  19. This is a horrendous idea in every way, shape and form. If this happens, classification better be adopted along with it.
  20. So you're a regular at practices and team meetings then? Silliness.
