Is Bell County trying to lure back Taylor County's Dudley Hilton?

Featured Replies

I've got it from a couple of sources that Bell County is offering Coach Hilton over and above what he is making at Taylor County to head back to the Bobcats.

Word on the street is also that Hilton's house in Taylor County is currently for sale.

Is Bell County unhappy with their situation after going from 10-3 in 2015 to 4-8 in 2016? Are they talking with Coach Hilton, and is Coach Hilton looking to take the job?

It's a much tougher road at Bell than at Taylor, plus they have a very different set of expectations.

I have heard that there was an offered extended to Hilton, though.

Bell County is going to be a tough gig as long as Haddix is at Corbin and Haywood is at Belfry.

I've heard the same thing.

I will never understand the fascination with Dudley Hilton.

No denying that the man wins football games though and raises his program's level.

With that said, Hilton comes with some baggage and ego.

I saw a video a few months back that documented his run to a State Title at Bourbon County and it had all the coverage from Pre-Season until the Championship Post-Game. I remember what stood out to me was how they basically suggested that he left because he felt they were taking him for granted.

Then to his credit he leads them to a title in year one HAHA

Absolutely agree. Plus, Hilton got Bell County both of their state championships.

He wins games with players that most people cannt win with.

He did something with Bourbon that no one has come close too since. They got a lot of help on that run but their team did everything asked of them to win a state title.

Only thing I will refute is Hodge's Bourbon County team in 2013 was definitely close.

IMHO, that was the 2nd best 3A team in Kentucky that season and were a couple big plays away from potentially being in Bowling Green when they lost to eventual State Champion belfry in the Semi's.

Bourbon ran rough shod over everyone that year until Belfry came calling. They dropped a wide open pass that should have been six and also had a long run that was saved by a literal shoestring or else that score may have been different.

With that said, there is no denying what Hilton did in one season at Bourbon that has otherwise been pretty mediocre before and after he left.

That 2013 Bourbon team didn't finish 2-8 the year before like the '97 Bourbon team that ended up winning it all.

@Hatz said it; they had some crazy stuff play in their favor the first couple rounds of the playoffs, but nonetheless..they pulled off the unthinkable and won the whole thing

not exactly the case at taylor. He is a much more accomplished coach than a majority of the others out there, but i would classify his taylor time as an underachievement. I say this based on their schedule and athletic ability.

From 1990 until 2014 Taylor County had a total of 4 winning seasons in that 24 year stretch.

Hilton had a winning season in his third year as Head Coach.

Nothing earth shattering, but it would suggest that Taylor County has simply been the picture of a below average program who seemed to be trending up.

Actually Hilton had a winning season in his first season at Taylor as he came in the 4th game of the season and had 2 weeks to get a team ready and went 4 and 4 that year with a team that was 0 and 3 and had been beaten by a combine score of 77 to 12. So I would say that Hilton has done better than any Coach that Taylor County has had in a long time.

I dont think Hilton has ever lost a game. But he has won plenty of games.
