I think the fact that Taylor was about 4 or 5 plays away from being 10-0, says a lot.

 

 

I don't think anyone is going to say that Taylor is going to be a dominating force in 4A, but they have a favorable district and region. Not downgrading those teams, but until Thanksgiving weekend, there isn't a juggernaut type of team in that region. There isn't always a guaranteed "exit round" like you have when you've got Mayfield, Desales, Belfry, Central, Bowling Green, Trinity, and the likes of those guys lurking in the 2nd or 3rd rounds.

We can come on here and toot the Dudley Hilton train whistle all we want, but fact of the matter is there are two programs that he's jerking along that needs a decision made. It's sad that a person so successful is so arrogant about who he is and what he does.

I dont think Hilton has ever lost a game. But he has won plenty of games.

Which proves a point I have made. You can take a real great coach like Hilton and put him at an ordinary school with limited talent and tradition and he turns out to be an average coach.

 

Maybe we need a reality show about how a coach at a school like Trinity goes to Berea and see how they do.

Coach Hilton is a very good coach. If he wants to leave Taylor County, that would be fine with me. They are making progress with him there and they are in our district. Where ever he goes, he will get the most out of his kids. He did a great job with them this past season.

To me showing success at a school such as Taylor County would be stringing winning seasons together.

He has done a very good job at Taylor. The turnaround he orchestrated mid year the first year was amazing.

 

Solid results the next two years.

You're cherry picking, Jim, plus you have your facts askew.

 

Dudley is actually 16-14 at Taylor Co. He took over in week 4 of 2014 when the Cardinals were 0-3

 

In 30 games under Dudley, Taylor Co's record is 16-14. The previous 30 games prior to his arrival, Coach Graves was 11-19, and the 30 prior to that, Coaches Graves, Cotton and Turpin were 10-20.

 

He is 1-1 vs Cambellsville, that 2014 loss was under Coach Graves. It is actually one of the more glaring points of improvement. Taylor lost to Campbellsville in 2014 42-6, lost in 2015 44-22, then beat them in 2016 30-0.

 

Another opponent in this pattern is Mercer Co. Dudley is 0-3 but has been more competitive moving forward. Losses were 21-0 in 2014, 42-12 in 2015, and 28-20 in 2016.

 

Taylor is 0-3 in the playoffs under Hilton, but they weren't even in the playoffs the 4 years prior to his arrival. And they were competitive with Wayne Co in 2016, round 1.

 

Is Taylor County setting the world on fire? No. But they are improving and they are in a much better place than they were pre-Hilton. At least in my evaluation.
