  1. That was the second terrible accident on the AA in two days. Please also pray for the family of a young man who also has had his life altered and a long road ahead that was hit head on the day before while just driving down the road by someone who crossed center.
  2. Hmmm, and didn't it come down to an error by Newport? Don't write off the Wildcats because they have the hunger to win. Some teams have the entitlement air about them, others have talent that doesn't have the hunger......let's see how this plays out. I am hoping to see them play in the districts if it doesn't interfere with Track.
  3. Where do you think Casey Kohls, Quillen-Highlands and Delaney-Dixie learned to play? All played with the girls of Dayton and coached by Steve Delaney when they were younger. Hours and hours of hitting and pitching and fast pitch he put in with these girls. He found leagues and pick up games for them. Glad to see it is paying off. Not to mention the years of Karen Fuchs and Coach Fields setting the foundation several years ago. GO LADY DEVILS
  4. Couldn't agree with you more. It would be like back in the 80's when a player played basketball for Newport, transferred to Dayton for Baseball, back to Newport, I believe he even stopped over in Bellevue. He never moved but would "run the river" playing sports for whichever team he could get along with the coach and his parents could. It was crazy. There must be some sort of rules but people use false addresses at all schools both big and small, successful and not so successful. Heck a couple of years ago at Dayton I went to watch my niece play and most of the girl's basketball team lived out of District, 2 of the big names had never lived in Dayton but used Grandma's address. Dayton knew it but didn't care.
  5. I know countless assistance cases where they just don't pay the other half and they continue to play sports for the high school. Yes, they can't be awarded more than 50% through the program but that doesn't mean they will ever be expected to pay the other half. Many an athlete has been exempt. I have parents who brag about how "johnny " goes to a private school and plays sports and they just can't pay the other half while they drive away in their new car.
  6. Who said they would pay? Tuition Assistance seems to pop up for student athletes way more often than for students at the private schools. Yes, FACT. Know it from the schools and parents and the many people who have benefited.
  7. Family issues you know nothing about.....like the Alexis Mayes issue.....needs to be left alone
  8. Thanks for looking at the positive. All student athletes should get a taste of the game at this level, it will only push them to return. Nice to see a coach who believes in his team and in engaged for the entire game. Lady Cats represented themselves, thier families and their school with pride.
  9. careful when talking the student side of student athlete if you aren't from Highlands or Beechwood (top) 2 and 3 in the state. CPS has Walnut Hills top 25 in nation, and last time I saw an article on 25 private schools on both sides of the river (catholic, christain, all private) NCC was in the bottom 3 with regards to ACT, AP classess and other categories...do your research.....OUCH trace back most of our family roots and they come from Newport, lets not forget where most people started from.
  10. I couldn't agree with you more. Carolyn Berstch transfered this year from NCC and is quick as all get out. Great addition on the bench. Seems to be a good fit for her at CCHHS, her talent and hustle is appreciated finally. NCC's loss is CCHS gain. I say Brossart in the end by 2 though. Hoping to catch this game.
  11. this is a topic that separates the haves from the have nots....remember the young men and women of Newport, Bellevue, Dayton all practice and sacrafice their free time and usually are juggling a part time job as well. Remember this is High School Sports and student athletes come from all size schools and should get a chance to honor thier schools in a regional game if possible. I believe Donna Murphy came from Newport back in the day so small schools have produced a baller here and there. Glad I caught the game last night and enjoyed the scrappy play, Highlands were beastly at the free throw line which is a simple fact pounded in players from the beginning, FREE points. Hope next year Nicole Kiernan can lead her team to the sweet 16 as the youngsters around her mature and find their groove. Sorry, it just wasn't this year. :isurrender: AGREE TO DISAGREE on this topic
  12. there are rules and there are "loopholes" some schools find them and others follow rules to the letter. Looking forward to watching some good games this spring. I thought Quillian was also a pitcher at Highlands? She was when she was younger? Staying in shape is never a bad thing.
  13. Every player and student has a story. My daughter played with her so I have insight. Don't want personal facts called out but if parent shares them at tournaments that is how they get public. Seems she has settled in this year and playing well. Back to basketball. No one went down a path, stating a player transferred from Holmes is a fact at the encouragement of coach. Players do it all the time. Point is NCC coach needs to utilize bench and fresh legs.....wasn't that where this started?
  14. That would be accurate.....her AAU coach, Lady Diamonds was the NCC Freshman coach and according to her mother at a tournament she was going there to play for him. That came from her family. She has an opportunity to get an education at NCC but please don't forget Holmes has the International Bac. Program there and students come from many districts to attend that program so the option was at Holmes for a quality education. Holmes has put together a nice team this year and not sure how she would have fit. Holy Cross would have been in her "District" if she wanted a Catholic education. Good luck to the ladies.....
  15. That is true, not Nicole....she is a beast at her postion.....Not Mayes....she left Holmes to come to NCC to play so to not start a recruit would be wrong....Lewis has a nice shot....guards are set as they have been groomed for positon since grade school.....She will be a awesome 6th man but needs to see minutes to help the team. She hustle and will not hold back for the team. She is a good team player....hope to get to catch a game soon but been watching the Southern end of the county lately. She will step up when asked and has from what little I was able to see this year.
  16. website clearly says they are not taking any out of district high school students for coming year.........just because you go to St Joe's doesn't mean you don't live in Ft Thomas school district...........look at no tuition StTherese, enrollment from all over the county, like a drive by education, have you seen the drop off line in the morning?
  17. finally someone who thinks EDUCATION might drive a decision............It seems that BBHS and NCC are falling victim to NDA and CCHS when education matters. Look at the ACT scores and other data that is education related then you can't question a parents decision to drive all the way out of the county for what they feel is in the best interest of their child/children.
  18. Interesting, I didn't think Drew McDonald was NCC's top Male Golfer? I would have thought the young lady from Covington Laton would be in for Soccer over the Bailey girl from Ludlow? Interesting how people are selected. Here is a big shout out to all the Young Men and Ladies who gave countless hours and dedication to their sports.
  19. Is Lydia Stutler playing for Mason Cty? Enjoyed watching her play AAU ball and her 8th and 9th grade up her in Northern Kentucky. NCC lost maturity when she transferred but I don't see her name much so kinda suprised. Any news?
  20. Wow, this is what the young guns do when faced with pressure from a solid High School Program? Very odd that ALL of the "shooting" players choked under pressure with shooting. Hope they find the Hoop when they face Brossart or it will not be pretty.
  21. Is #34 the girl who transfered from NCC? Carolyn Berstch? very fast and hustles.....heard she was hurt in practice with a head or neck injury so she might be slow to start the season but she will definately spark the Camels as she is gets to 100%
