For some of those schools, it is demographics... For some, it is an issue of resources. I am not arguing it CAN'T be done - I am arguing that to just say "Hire better coaches, to include actual strength & conditioning coaches, engage nutrient specialists & speed trainers to help players get bigger, faster and more athletic" is a gross oversimplification, and ignores the socioeconomic realities of much of the state. Also I wrote "That isn't a realistic option for MOST school districts." I don't think the ten you have listed really disproves my statement.

Seems overly optimistic to assume that public schools have the resources to do the things you are talking about... That isn't a realistic option for most school districts.

I am not sure it is a very good job, right now. Though their district isn't great, in most years.

Would think there are some positions available. Scenters & Kirk were both teachers, right? I don't think it would necessarily be a step back, if you went from a position coach to a coordinator. How well does GC pay coaches?

Good question... Though, I would think the Boyle guys he would go after (Hester, for example) are pretty settled in there. Not sure he and Harp had a lot of good help at Danville, toward the end. Though Earnest Dunn always seemed like a good guy to me.

I know Jerry Perry is the new coach at Garrard... Any news on his staff? Getting close to spring practice.

So, they will only beat everyone on their schedule by 40, instead of 50? :laugh:

Hard to say I am hijacking the thread -- then respond specifically to my appraisal of BoCo's 2014 talent. I responded to a post, about a Boyle game I saw, then tried to steer right back on to topic. Don't know why you would say I am a Mercer fan... I am a football fan & try to see as many area games as possible. I also think this will be a fun rivalry - and that it will develop into a rivalry. I have said repeatedly that Boyle will have a chance to make a great run, next season.

BTW, very few people in the state realize what a good player Holman is...

I was at that game, and it seems like most of the Boyle QBs yards came from scrambles, while Mercer's was off called plays. Mercer was faster, but they didn't seem very disciplined, defensively. FWIW, Hoskins is a good, strong runner, but I don't think anyone will be afraid of him. Still no deep threat at WR. I agree with jlow -- great staff + good talent = a good run... How good depends upon a lot of different factors, IMO.

One thing to consider it the 3rd year in the system. Seems to me, that is the year that kids finally understand what is really going on and is expected of them. It is the year the new coaches are just the coaches, if you know what I mean.

Don't know if it will happen, but think that would make sense.

I know the stadium that is the subject of this thread also has indoor training areas for golf, wrestling, baseball, softball, and track & field.

Add administrative support (coaches in the building, time, having your back, etc.), and I would agree. The thing is, there is really only a handful of jobs in the state with great financial and administrative support, to go along with good athletes. The rest, you have to pretty much create those things, somehow.

Good thing about Titans, is it is like the Juggernauts... No one has any idea what one looks like, so it gives a lot of creative license on the mascot/uniforms.

What people who rip on this school district never point out is that the stadium is also used for four other sports and an award-winning band, and that the other 60 million went to a state of the art academic services center and a top-notch performing arts center. I only wish people in KY valued their schools enough to pass a bond ordinance of a percentage of this size.

Wonder if numbers will be affected, as a result?

I know one thing... The intensity-level is about to go up a few notches in Lancaster. lol

I don't know that it is make or break... But it is important - especially for new staffs.

One of the many reasons I wonder why you don't see schools employing HCs w/o classroom duties. A lot more are doing supervisory stuff like in-school suspension, though.

Agreed... I want to echo Booby, who said that Coach Perry is probably smart enough to figure all this out. It will be interesting to see who his assistants will be. I don't know if it was on here or over on another board, but I think I saw that there are a couple of coaches in the building he might take a look at???
