Next week but won't be approved until the meeting in July.

What day next week and will it be public?

I believe the BOC meeting is on Tuesday. I imagine it will become public fairly quickly. I'd imagine we'll know the draft within the next 7 days.

I can't imagine there will be much change in the initial draft and final option, since playing up/down has already been decided. I do believe there are going to be some teams, especially in 2A, that will wish they had played up due to extreme geographic issues. (I'm looking at you Bath County and West Carter).

Fort Knox and Sheldon Clark are both appealing their placements. Fort Knox wishes to be 1A due to rapidly declining enrollment, and if granted, there may be 33 teams in 1A. Sheldon Clark has a less concrete case for moving to 2A from 3A, but believes their enrollment will be declining as well and furthermore that in 3A the struggling program may go under completely. They said that they only had 17 players in the program by the end of last year.

Aside from any changes with those two, I agree, the draft of the teams will likely not change at all. What will be interesting, of course, is to see what the districts are. They've been working on that for the last two weeks, per the KHSAA agenda. It wouldn't even surprise me if they released the district alignment tomorrow night or the next day.

Once the teams are placed in the districts, will teams be able to ask out to join another dist due to travel reasons?

That has been allowed in the past, I believe. Dragon Fire can probably answer that better than me, but I seem to recall a couple districts being altered after the initial alignment the last time.

DF, you are correct the meeting is Tuesday (Tomorrow). I'm sure we'll hear something probably by tomorrow afternoon or Wednesday, remember that these are just drafts the alignment has to be approved in July where they could be a few changes made.

Can't speak for West but Bath Co will not have any regrets regardless. With the teams they will field over the next 5 season they are going to be alright no matter where they go....but the district may not turn out that bad with Sheldon Clark potentially becoming 2A. I have also heard that at least Morgan Co. and possible Magoffin Co are looking into that as well. There is a 5 team district ready made. Besides, if you are a 2A school in size and the new 3A will be nothing short of a blood bath, why would you play up?

Best of luck in that new district with what will be 2 loaded teams by then in Chuck Smith lead Boyle Co and Lexington Catholic. (I am looking at you Garrard Co).

No joke. 3A got a heck of a lot tougher with Boyle and Catholic coming into the district!

If Fort Knox moves down won't they just move up the largest 1a team?

Yep. And think about this....assuming LexCath and Boyle end up in the West, which I think they will.

..but, you also have Bardstown moving up to 3A, and likely in the same district (3) with Central. We could potentially be looking at a 3A Region 2 with the likes of Central, Bardstown, LexCath and Boyle. A little bit of hardware there.

Bardstown from everything I've heard has a young bunch coming through right now that might be one of the best ever, and that's saying something as we all know. I know they return the house next year, too.

Maybe, but I'm also thinking South Floyd (1A) and Allen Central (2A) are planning to consolidate in a year or two, which would actually eliminate a 1A school and get the number back to 32.
