6A Pairings

5th place from District 1 as the 4th place in District 2 for playoff brackets.

5th place from 3 would become the 4th place in 5 for playoffs in odd numbered years

5th place from 3 would become the 4th place in 6 for playoffs in even numbered years.

5th place from 4 would become the 4th place in 6 for playoffs in odd numbered years

5th place from 4 would become the 4th place in 5 for playoffs in even numbered years.

 

Playoff pairings rotation would rotate between 3, 4, 5 and 6 for the first 3 years of the 4 year alignment period. Year 1 would have 3 and 4 paired, 5 and 6 paired. Year 2 would have 3 and 5 paired, 4 and 6 paired. Year 3 would have 3 and 6 paired, 4 and 5 paired. Board will determine in May, 2014 as to length of time for the rotation of pairings beyond the third year.

Another three team district with a five team district. Not a fan of it.

I bet Berea gets moved. Caverna, Campbellsville, Bethlehem and FK all sit within the I-65 Corridor and Berea sits right on I-75.

 

They are much closer to all of the teams in District 4, 5 and even 7 than any of the teams in District 2 and it's not even close.

I don't I know about anyone else, but I'd rather have a 6 team district than a 3 team district. 6A has several 3 team districts which make no sense. NKY could have 1 district for 6A instead of 2 3 team districts. Doesn't make sense to me.

Schools have indicated they prefer to travel for playoffs but not for regular season.

 

Add in fact there needed to be 8 districts for each class

Everyone needs to realize that this is FIRST DRAFT. Schools have received a survey to voice their views on the placement of their school.

So , those 6a districts that have five teams will play the first place team from their own district in the playoffs? Example district 1&2 and it works out that way with the rotating districts, if I am reading it correctly.

Good point there. They would be the one 'slow people time' exception to that district.

No joke. 3A got a heck of a lot tougher with Boyle and Catholic coming into the district!

 

You wound up where I thought you would but we were shocked. I felt that district was the 3rd or 4th option for us. Thought they would place us with LCA, Danville, etc. but we are good to go! Let's play!

My theory on Scott Co is in line with conspiracy theories. My thinking is Jim was a big, and still is, promoter of the split that was approved then denied. With that said, if it makes Jim ok with the alignment then he is not nearly as loud with his public/private talk. That is my theory and does not reflect any inside knowledge...just my brain letting the hamster get in the wheel. And FYI, I have a LOAD of respect for Jim McKee...but that is my theory on how Scott is going to "luck out" and not see the big 3 for several years.

Quite Honestly, if I'm Berea I sit really quiet and hope no one notices. Then find someone to help foot the transportation bill and go for it. Only logical place would be district 7 and couple of those are long hauls too.

Agreed. Easy fix, but I'd let Berea replace Frankfort instead of FK.

 

Of all the set ups, having Berea in with Campbellsville, Caverna, Fort Knox and Bethlehem (all of whom are 5th Region Hardwood and Diamond members I might add) is as bad as Bell County currently being in the "West". Geez...talk about a haul; Berea to...well, all of those schools.
