I am hoping the BOC gets creative with 6A. Place Cooper and Connor in a district with Scott County and one Fayette school. Boone , S Kenton, Ryle and Campbell can remain cozy. Mad Central, Clark, and two Fayette schools. Two Fayettes with Eastern and J-town. Manual, Butler, PRP and St X. Trinity, Ballard, Male and Seneca. McCracken , Henderson, Muhlenburg and Ohio. Daviess, Meade and the two Hardin county schools.

 

Ohio moved up, they should have a little added burden of travel. Connor and Cooper obviously tried to gerrymander an all Boone county district (along the same lines as politicians drawing their politcal boundaries to better serve themselves). They too "earned" the joy of more travel.

Maybe, but I'm also thinking South Floyd (1A) and Allen Central (2A) are planning to consolidate in a year or two, which would actually eliminate a 1A school and get the number back to 32.

That would be great for both of those schools and Fort Knox. FK is one of the many schools IMO who have been hurt by 6 classes (not trying to hijack here). If they are able to slide into 1A, they automatically have a chance at .500 and above year in year out for a once very proud program.

According to the notes, Fort Knox is anticipated to lose somewhere between 3,300-3,500 soldiers no later than July 15th. Fort Knox estimates this will result in the loss of at least 120 students, more than 60% of which are male. That would actually place their single year enrollment not only in 1A range, but in the bottom 50% of the class.

 

I could see the KHSAA granting this request, and personally, I think they should. At the very least though, they'd be moved into 1A in all likelihood midway through the alignment.

How does Dixie voluntarily move down to 5A from 6A when they've got the numbers for 6A but Boone Co does not? Did Boone Co not want to move down?

If this is a legitimate numbers issue, does it push Beechwood into 2A since they would no longer be in the bottom 32?

Not really sure of your point as it relates to Conner and Cooper. Both of these schools play Ryle and Boone every year so it makes perfect since have them in one district and have it truly mean something they are "in" the county. Both Conner and Cooper play CC just about every year and SK over the past years as well. Conner and Cooper both take long road trips playing South Oldham in the current district lineup of 5A. I would be hard pressed to see Conner and Coooper shipped off to another district when they are in the same county and play those schools every anyway and some great rivalrys between all 4 of these schools.

The point is Cooper and Conner chose to move up in class. They are not playing in the class they belong, therefore they should not be able to force two legitimate 6A schools out of the NKY district. They chose to move up and should be the schools to face the burden of more travel.

Same county should not be driving factor as Jefferson County schools play in three of 8 6A districts now.

 

Dixie Heights could have stayed 6A. I think the KHSAA blundered in allowing teams to move in the first place.
