  1. There you go, we now know.... SK is the 2012 6A State Champs!!!!! Thank you UK#1 fan, now I don't have to watch any of the games!!
  2. Shouldn't everyone in SK's junior class be on that list?
  3. They took a serious look at starting a program around 8-10 years ago. The soccer powers put up roadblocks, and the start-up costs were a big issue as well. It seems like they are pretty content without it.
  4. what does the roster look like?
  5. Blame some of that on the way the districts are drawn up. Why in the world would a kid that lives in Edgewood want to go to Scott when Dixie is much more convenient geographically. Scott has athletic kids walking the hallways, they just aren't playing football.
  6. I just left a coaching clinic that addressed the issue. Things discussed included all the news and magazine article. It was brought up that the "majority" of these articles are directed toward the female population, specifically a mother's perspective. It was noted that in the past 5 years, the number of football players in the US has decreased from 4.2 million players to 3.5. Pretty significant. How much of that decline is due to Mom' not letting Junior play? Also discussed was the NFL's stance and the company line, most specifically what the lawyers are telling league reps to say. Lawsuits, talk of the dangers of the game, changing the rules of the game and improving equipment are what discussions are centered around. What no one is talking about, at least no in public (this clinic being the exception from my perspective), is how to train the athletes (youth through NFL) to be physically prepared for the violence of the game. Education and PROPER training is crucial in this area because the future of the game we know today is in jeopardy.
  7. Plenty of good players to be considered for any award, it is rare where one player is head and shoulders above the rest of the league, region, or state to be a runaway winner. Congratulations to all the ballplayers considered for excellent seasons, and hats off to those that take home the award....
  8. Very nice, hard working young lady! Good for her!
  9. There is a school in the Buffalo, NY area that would travel to play Highlands if the schools looked into it. St. Francis of Athol Springs has trouble filling out it's schedule every year and they travel extensively. They have played Cincy St. X several times and usually have games with St Ignatius & Lakewood St Edwards. I know that a few years ago they tried to schedule a KY school but ran into problems with scheduling as they do not start play until after Labor Day. The public schools in NY won't schedule them. Mr. Smith's Site
  10. Best of Luck to them both.
  11. If you think Trinity is expensive, see what it costs you to not get a good education.....
  12. Tony Woeste & Chris Bowman are playing at Thomas More.
  13. Well Done Spencer! Keep working hard!
  14. Very Big, Very Strong kid. Good work ethic. Not a fatty at all. Needs some foot speed / quickness, but he will get better there because he works at it.
  15. As a side bar to this conversation, New York does not allow private (Catholic) schools to participate in state playoffs. Many of the private schools play a large portion of their schedule out of state.
  16. Lacrosse is growing by leaps and bounds, but it is a spring sport (as is rugby at the hs level). My point is that if you remove the pads from football, you have rugby, which is one of the places football evolved from to begin with.
  17. You would have Rugby..... Less Rugby injuries than Football or Soccer..... Take away the armor / weapons and teach proper form.
  18. Well done Thomas More, Well done Goose Cohorn. One of the hardest working kids I have seen & he will earn playing time.
  19. I want to get water from whichever water-boy is using the "Red Solo Cup".....
  20. Not advertising, as it is against the rules, but the All-American Athletic Training Center is doing great things for kids in Florence....
  21. Excellent gesture by donating trophy cost to charity.
  22. Crazy things happen all the time. Even with the great program that Highlands has, the # 3 could be the # 1 in about 2 plays. Who's playing QB for the Houston Texans this Sunday????
  23. http://recruiting.scout.com/2/1136027.html
  24. Yeah - they don't play..... (Sorry, couldn't help myself).
