I wouldn't say they were awful, just a very undisciplined team, with some pretty good players.

 

CovCath was up by a score of 31-14 when Columbus East made a mild run to end the 1st half at 37-26 but then CovCath after coming out of the half, went on a tear and outscored the Tigers by a score of 26-8 to take a 63-34 third quarter lead.

 

Each and ever member of the CovCath Varsity scored but the star of this game to me was Sawyer Pauly.

 

Pauly received his second foul and was taken out of the game near the middle of the 2nd quarter just prior to the Tigers making their run but when he returned after half time, well the game was never in doubt. Pauly only scored 8 points but had 6 rebounds 3 steals and gave the Tigers best shooter fits. Congrats young man on a well played game.

CovCath wins the 1st annual Kiwanis Holiday Hoops Classic in Granville, Ohio but both CovCath and Columbus East instead of receiving Trophies, contribute the cost of those trophy, to Charity. CovCath makes their contribution to the NKy. Special Olympics while Columbus East contribute theirs to the Kiwanis of Granville, Ohio. Quite frankly a great and generous move by both high schools.

Beating them by 39 in the finals is a little baffling to me. Nice win but I wonder if the win the night before was more impressive.

Why not name the all tourney team anyway with no hardware? Strange decision. Heck, give them a $1.00 medal, a Snickers bar from the concession stand. Could have done both.

You needed to be there to understand that there were few, heck maybe none, other than the Granville AD, Basketball Coach and some of the players who watched the game besides a nice crowd of CovCath fans and a smattering of Columbus East fans, who hung around to see the game.

 

Between the games that had a nice ceremony honoring about a half a dozen former Granville HS players and had a party for them and the Granville fans after the first game. Heck it was going strong (the party) that is during our game vs Columbus East.

 

Honestly Coshcoston HS had the most fans attending the tourney, then CovCath, and a tie between Columbus East and Granville. My guess is that this will be the 1st and last annual Holiday Tourney.

Coach Flynn has watched the Colonels. It's not like it's a big secret as to who the shooters are. It hasn't been the strength of this particular team.

 

If I'm Coach Flynn I worry more about cutting off penetration.
