  1. It is sad how grow men are on here making fun of 17/18 year old players after a game in which many of them will never play again... Truly sad
  2. From scrolling through this thread, it is obvious that people have many varying opinions on Friday's game. One thing is for certain, this game will not be a blow-out. Both teams are loaded with talent, especially at the skill positions. As Queen of Pink stated, this game will be decided by special teams and turnovers. People can talk all they want about either squad, but when it comes down to it, the game will be decided on the field. The Flyers obviously feel that they have something to prove after the beating they took from Conner last year. Conner feels that they have to prove that last year was not a fluke and that they are a serious 5A contender. When it is all said and done I have to give the slight edge to Conner simply based upon their schedule. Conner has been in numerous close games this season and has learned how to finish with the game on the line. In glancing at FC's schedule they have only played in one close game all season (Anderson Co.). I believe this could hurt Franklin County. One thing is for sure, both teams will be fired up and ready to go. Either way it plays out, best of luck to both squads.
  3. I was at that playoff game in 2005. It makes me sick to my stomach every time I think about it. We had a very legitimate shot to win the super bowl that year. One thing is for sure, had Palmer played the whole game, the Steelers would have gone down.
  4. I want to make sure I am interpreting your post correctly, are you saying the Barker family is related to the Way family? In terms of the Way family, they do I have a ton of talent. I remember watching Bradley Way at Cov Cath last year once and the kid was a dominant.
  5. I could be wrong but I believe they both wore number 25.
  6. Also from the "Did You Know" Category: I have heard from multiple sources that Drew Barker, Sam Burchell, Matthew Way, and Andrew Way all went to Blessed Sacrament. Supposedly the four were best friends.
  7. I hear what you are saying. I was in no way trying to start anything with that last post. I agree with a lot of the things you said in this post. Cooper has a very good football team. They had Conner's number last year and Conner in turn had their number this year. As a fan of the game I believe you must give credit where credit is due. Cooper deserved credit for their victory last season; they were the better team that night. I know you have given Conner credit for their victory this season and I believe everyone should calm down with the attacks and realize that Conner and Cooper are both very good teams that have a legitimate shot to make a deep run in the playoffs this year.
  8. I agree that the sideline, cheerleader issue is irrelevant to the game and to this thread for that matter. Conner's field is really not setup in the best way so there is really no great way for either team to enter the field. With this in mind, the sideline and cheerleader talk should be abandoned and this thread should stick to talking about last nights game. However Hellbird, your comments concerning Conner fans being jealous towards Cooper for finishing higher in the district two years in a row are completely erroneous. Anyone who was at the Conner-Cooper game last week would agree that Conner controlled that game from start to finish. So to suggest Conner fans are jealous is ridiculous because based off of last week I don't think any Conner fans are scared of playing Cooper again. Conner may not finish as high in the district standings but they certainly validated their stance as the better team with last weeks win.
  9. Impressive win by the Cougars tonight. Good game plan by Coach Trosper and the Cougar coaches. Looked like the Cougars came out with some new formations that really caught the Jaguars off guard. One that seemed to work well was when Conner put Andrew Way in at running back. Kid showed some impressive vision and elusiveness. That formation also seemed to free up Fogle and Barker, who made some huge plays.
  10. The majority of talk in this thread has concerned the big, primary playmakers for each team (Barker,Morris,Fogle,Collins) and how they will match up with one another. Although I do believe all of the aforementioned players will all have a huge impact in the outcome of the game, I believe the outcome of the game will ultimately come down to who wins the "secondary match-ups." By secondary match-ups I mean the battles between the lesser known role players for each team. The studs (Barker,Morris,Fogle,Collins) will all put up their usual numbers Friday night, but this game will come down to which secondary role players win their respective match-ups. We seem to be forgetting that 11 players start and contribute to the outcome of the game not just two or three.
  11. There seems to be a lot of discussion about the poor play of the CCH special teams. I was not personally able to attend this game, so I just wandered what issues arose with the special teams (fumbles, penalties, missed field goals), and if these issues played a vital role in the outcome of the game?
  12. UKfan you were and still are bragging about SK who beat a 1A(BW) school by 7 when they are a 6A school, not to mention BW was without their best player in #44. so i could say the same thing to you my friend.
  13. In all fairness to the other receivers for Conner, they did not really get any opportunities. I would venture to say that of Barker's 10 pass attempts 6-7 were targeted to Fogle. It is not that the other Cougar receivers are incompetent because all of the receivers were open almost all night; it was just a case in where Barker targeted Fogle frequently and when they did connect the plays resulted in touchdowns.
  14. When you score 67, it really doesn't matter how they scored 21...
  15. Conner scores again. Two yard TD run by Campbell. Conner 50 HC 14 with 7 minutes left in the third. Cougars are rolling.
  16. Conner up 43 to 14 with 9 minutes left in the third. Barker hits Fogle on a perfect strike for about a 55 yard TD. Conner's O is firing on all cylinders.
  17. I don't think you have any room to tell people to proofread or check their spelling or grammar. You need to take a look at your own posts first. I just seen ( should be saw) where Conner gave up almost 400 yards. Come on man. Take a look in the mirror before you start criticizing others.
  18. They looked bad only once so far this preseason and it was against the best team in the league IMO. The offense and defense looked good against the Jets and Falcons. I haven't checked the Bengals schedule in a while, but i dont think they play the defending super bowl champs every week. If they went less than .500 it would be an extremely dissapointing year.
  19. What people dont understand that when you have players that stick around for more then 1 year at a time you dont have to get the top guys at every spot. You recruit the pieces of the puzzels you need for the next years. All the starters returning and the #8 recruiting class coming in sounds like a good fit to me.
  20. Voice of Reason... and I don't agree with that statement for a second.
  21. Conner has a few other skill position players that have the ability to make plays when their number is called. They may not all have the speed or capability to take the ball to the house at any time like Fogle does but McKean, Way, Loney and Creech are all solid ball players. Way missed both scrimmages with an ankle injury but will suit up tonight from what I have heard and Creech missed the Beechwood scrimmage. I think you will be impressed with their level of play tonight.
  22. Great kid, great talent. I'm sure those offers will be on there way before long. I know the kid loves football, but he's also a heck of a baseball player and could easily play at the next level on the diamond as well.
  23. This issue you are discussing is completely irrelevant. Almost every high school roster adds an inch and at least five pounds to every player. I am shocked that an issue as petty as this would even make it into this thread. Besides its not like it matters if the kid is 6'3" or 6'4" because he already has six division one scholarship offers including one from a major SEC power in South Carolina. It is obvious that these college coaches have no problem with Barker's height and could care less about what he is listed at on his high school roster.
