  1. I'll have to disagree with you on this one. While he is just a sophomore, Barker has experienced playmakers on the edge that can play. With the move to 5-A, and some consistent blocking up-front, I'd expect Barker to put up some numbers both passing and running. Not sure Conner will win many though due to a lack of skill and experience on the defensive side of the ball.
  2. Ooff. Too soon to say that?:idunno: I wouldn't worry too much about Conner's offense - Barker, Fogle, and Mulderink will make plays. Not sure who their potential RB will be? Blake Kennedy? Big question is definitely on the defensive side of the ball.
  3. That's better. :banana::thumb:
  4. Well to answer your question, I do.
  5. That sounds plausible. How close were you? I mean if you claim to have been closer than me, then where were you sitting?
  6. Marley, I saw you at the game and you were on the platform behind the seats the entire game.
  7. Like I said, I was right there... I don't know how close you were to the field, but like I said I was literally right there... You can trust me that the batter said nothing of the sort that u seem to think he said. So reguarding your post as to what the umpire should do about it is absolutely nothing because there was nothing to do anything about in this instance.
  8. Soloman, I was right there when the event occurred with the Conner left fielder and the Dixie catcher. The batter simply turned to his dugout and said "Let's Go". The catcher was extremely mad about the walk (and his team giving up the game winning run) that he fired back at the batter with a "get your (explicative) down the line". In the case of the batter, where would an F-bomb even come into play in that situation?
  9. I havent seen Sexton pitch enough to really compare him to prior outings. He appeared to be throwing hard (82-85 mph according to the radar gun @ Freedom)... he was a bit wild. And Coop, glad you were able to digest that pie. BTW, I would have to agree that they don't have an ace... We'll see who they run out there on Wednesday
  10. Maybe Conner doesn't have a pitcher that can "shut people down" or wow you with their velocity. Maybe Conner isn't the deepest offensive team in the region either, at times they can struggle to score runs. However, what Conner does have is a relaxed atmosphere to play in, an underdog's mentality, and a hard-nosed attitude.. They may not have the talent that Ryle or Boone or CovCath carry; but that doesn't mean a thing. Just ask Ryle and Dixie...
  11. Thanks Coop. I wonder if they will set it up to where all first round games are played Monday and then the semi's won't occur until Friday (I think that's what occured last year).
  12. Anybody happen to know when the 9th region tourny will begin? I know it is being held at Florence Freedom's ballpark again...
  13. Conner defeated Holmes today. Game was played @1 at Conner (varsity game was cancelled).
  14. Ehhhh... I believe this had to be a seed game seeing as this was the only time Boone and Conner played eachother all year.
  15. Great offensive performance by both teams. I dont think it mattered who was on the mound for either team last night... The game went back in forth each inning. Conner would go ahead in the top of the inning and Boone would answer right back in the bottom. I hate to say this but the home plate umpire was awful. He clearly cost Conner a run in the top of the first inning with a play at the plate. His strikezone was consistently tight all night, however in the top of the 7th, it opened up ALOT  It was a long game but I hope that wasnt his reasoning... The base umpire did a wonderful job :thumb:
  16. Tough to say to be honest... IMO, Maines is the best pitcher on that team, however, he is rarely used. The top three that are regularly used would have to be Freese, Way, and Nelson in no particular order. Simpson and Liechty would be their next options. Nobody over powers anyone (except maybe Maines at times) but they consistently throw strikes...
  17. Final from Hebron. Johnson started for the Tigers and pitched into the 6th. For the Cougars, Freese threw 5 innings of 2 run baseball, Simpson held them in the 6th, and Way closed it out (gave up two runs and a few errors.) Conner hit the ball well, Beechwood didn't field the ball too well. Conner moves to 12-5 on the year. Will host Holy Cross tommorrow who they are 1 and 1 against on the year.
  18. Seeding game played at Cooper. Jags jumped out to a 3 to 0 lead in the first, then things went down hill from there. Nelson goes the complete game for Conner, striking out 12. I believe Dunn started for Cooper. He looked good for the first few but then lost control of his fastball and gave up some hits/walks. Conner hitting leader were Roberts with a 2B and 3 RBI. Ryle added 5 RBI. Conner moves to 11-5 on the year. Will host Beechwood tommorrow.
  19. Final from 4/18. Teegarden and Kremer threw for CC. Albrecht and Way for Conner. CC jumped out to a quick 5 to 0 lead in the first. Conner rallied their way back. Very good ball game for both teams.
  20. Final from Thursday. Liechty went 6 for the Cougars with Way coming in to close it out. I believe Liggett started for the Bluebirds. Nice day for a ball game. Conner moves to 8-3 on the year..
  21. Bluetip, I believe I wrote about Conner's defense playing suprisingly well to start the season.. I was definately proved wrong after the second game vs Holy Cross. It was prettty pathetic... errors across the infield besides third base. I agree that the hitting by both teams was superb... And what was Conner doing in the bottom of the 7th? Single by Fogle to lead off, Roberts comes up and doesnt bunt! Why??!! Roberts is a strong bunter and would have easily moved Fogle over. Instead, Roberts gets out. Liechty smashes a double down the line. They intentionally walk Ryle to load the bases. Then the Cougars cant push a run across... Dumb coaching IMO. But its still early!
  22. Conner did indeed win that game against Holmes this past Tuesday, 8-2... It must have been posted incorrectly. However, Holmes is a decent team with some quality players and definately on the rise..
  23. Game was played at Meiken, Conner obtained the lead in the first and never looked back. Freese and Simpson kept the Indians in check for all 7, I believe Johnson started for Holy Cross and lasted around 4. The second baseman came in after that.... The young Cougars continue to throw strikes and play excellent defense. The bats also came alive tonight, I believe Liechty, Brake, and Ryle had multiple RBI in this one. Conner is now 4-1 and will play these same Holy Cross Indians tommorrow in Hebron :eyeonyou:
  24. . Yes, you are correct in your interpretation of my previous comment. I guess being consistent is all you can ask for at this level in regard to umpires. However when a catcher is set up on the outer part of the plate and reaches further outside to receive a called "strike," and when a fastball bounces on the plate and is called a "strike," I begin to wonder. But hey, that's just my opinion... Sorry for the complaining this early, I'm sure it will get better
