Wayne Co's junior's (Dunagin, Shearer and Hopper twins etc.) won the 8th grade state tournament so there is talent there. I think they are just in a funk and will right the ship before the season is out. They will be in the mix come March. I also think Mercer will be a factor also.

Is Dixon the potential starter that was out with a knee injury. I remember something like this on another thread but was thinking the player would be sidelined a lot longer than this? Strange how those who bashed the Raiders when they were 0-2 aren't around after they beat the defending region champs.

E Jess has some decent athletes. They are a team that could beat anyone in the region on a given night and it wouldn't be a huge shocker but they probably aren't a threat to do it a couple of nights in a row like has to be done in March.

Somehow I don't think West is thinking it was a great game for them.

Before the last couple of games for the Warriors I would have leaned toward Somerset but with how SW has played I say Warriors by 14.

I don't think the football season should be much of an excuse when it's been over a month ago (and on top of that W Jess also played football) since their season ended. I say West takes control in the third quarter but McCreary makes a late run to get back in the game and West hits free throws down the stretch to win 56-52.

I guess you also wrote off South Laurel after they got smoked by Corbin in December two years ago. How did that turn out?

I guess W Jess should have thrown in the towell last year when they lost to Lincoln and McCreary in the first two weeks.

You are right they very well could be 1-5 at that point. I don't blame them a bit for scheduling themselves a couple of wins in their own tournament. They already play Wayne Co at least twice this season anyway so I can see not wanting to play them again.

Where did you have Lincoln before thier loss last night?

If Lawrence goes undefeated in regular season then they will most likely play the loser of this Friday's McCreary Central at Rockcastle Co game in the first round.

I don't think too many parents are concerned about how well their kids play against other freshmen, I think they are looking at giving the kid another year to play at the end of those four years instead of at the beginning. I think there is a much better chance they will get some notice from college's if they get that extra year beyond what would have been their senior year. If it means a better chance for your kid to play college sports then I completely support holding back. Age doesn't make any difference in college and generally I don't see how an extra year of maturity could hurt either.

I remember McCreary having a very good 8th grade team and those kids are seniors now. They looked to have a very solid 4 players to go along with Watts who was already starting on the high school team. Roark and the point guard were two of the four on that team. What happened to the others? Is Chitwood one of the players that was on that team?

I say throw your best. Depending on the schedule it may come down to your #3 vs the other teams #3. If they saved their better pitchers for the finals then they were lucky it didn't burn them and they get the advantage. You may find youself in the finals but against someone who knocked off the best team because they thought they could save the pitching and it burned them.

Wouldn't you rather have length. Assuming two players have equal "hops" aren't you more interested in how high a player can reach with his arms over how tall he measures at the top of his head. Don't you rebound, block shots, shoot and play defense more with your arms than your head (physically speaking)?

Southwestern loses Woolridge, Jones, Young, Muse and Fothergill. They may struggle quite a bit next year. No way would I put them in the top five of the region.
