  1. I don't think the two district first round losses were as bad as everyone seems to make them out to be. Two years ago they lost in overtime to a Wayne County team that had beaten them twice during the season and that game was at Wayne County. Was it even an upset? Last year even though it was an upset if you look at the last couple of weeks of the season when SW barely lost to Wayne, was in a close game with Lincoln early in the fourth and had McCreay down by double digits before losing by five. McCreary barely beat Williamsburg and lost to Green County, you could see the possibility of an upset coming. As for this season I haven't seen them near enough but it seems they just can't play consistently and therefore I don't think they can get through a regional tournament unless they get a good draw and/or luck out and meet someone who pulls a big upset in the regional.
  2. 2007 wasn't Lincoln's last trip to the State Tournament. The list is each schools last trip.
  3. I thought Russell County went from the 12th region in 1990 or 91, maybe 92
  4. If there are 256 schools in the state now (64 4 school districts) then that would divide evenly into 4 64 team classes. Then for each class that would be a 6 game tourney for two teams, a five game tourney for two other teams, a four game tourney for four others, a three game tourney for eight other teams, 2 games for 16 teams and 1 game for 32 teams in each class. I know there aren't exactly 256 schools but that's pretty close to what four classes would split into.
  5. Not even close, Powell Co. hit 70-89 free throws against Shawnee in 1972. 55 free throws is tied for 8th. The 30 free throws made and 37 attempts by Polson I think are new state records for a game by an individual.
  6. Do the teams only play each other once for district seeding or do they all have three more district games to go?
  7. This game isn't anything more than a regular season game now. Unless you think it's important what bench the teams sit on at the district tourney.
  8. It seems in this region there is usually one "A" school that is head and shoulders above the rest and the region tournament isn't really much of a challenge to them.
  9. I think that is correct Now just where is the district going to be played is the question.
  10. If I'm not mistaken Southwestern still has the upper hand because Wayne lost to Monticello. I think Wayne and SW have split their two games and I think SW has beaten Monticello twice.
  11. Unfortunately for McCreary there will be no regional tournaments held in Jessamine County in the near future.
  12. I must have overlooked them when reading that thread. I was surprised that they were not in the top ten.
  13. Where's the report from SSF? I agree Wayne has played well for a young team but a four point win in January doesn't equal a regional championship.
  14. In the 12th there are several cross-town rivals. East and West Jess., Danville-Boyle, Somerset-Pulaski-Southwestern. I would definately consider those the best rivalries in the region. Many of the students and players know each other and have since they were kids and often they live near each other and that brings a whole new level of intensity to the games. The Somerset vs PC or SW games at Somerset's crackerbox gym make for some of the best atmosphere that you will find anywhere in the region.
  15. Don't judge a team by how they play against weak competition. Of course McCreary could beat Monticello without Watts being a big scorer. They could probably beat Monticello without him as could most of the other top teams in the region.
  16. Wayne County didn't win the State Tourney, they finished runner-up. I can't remember who they lost to though.
  17. If I'f not mistaken the year Monticello made it to the Region in 04 or 05 they hosted the district.
  18. They haven't done that since Southwestern came into that district and Russell County left so I would assume that they aren't doing it this year. In my opion that is a shame because it puts more importance regular season games and eliminates games like last years district championship where Southwestern and Wayne County (about 20 miles apart) had to go to McCreary to play (further drive for both schools) to play. I think it would have been fitting if Wayne had got to host that game since they were the higher seeded team.
