  1. It's obvious that you are new BGP; not too many excuses ever come out of Union.
  2. No need to eat crow, no matter what the result. This year's Freshman team had seven 8th graders that started and the JV team had quite a few Freshman playing on Saturdays. When the upcoming Juniors were Freshman, they were undefeated in the regular season. You can't always tell by the Frosh and JV squads, but there is some pretty solid talent moving through the program right now. Along with this year's Seniors, their leadership and a good Junior class, Ryle should be a very solid team this year.
  3. Conner Hempel, Ryle QB, received five D-1 Football offers (WKU, Miami OH, Bowling Green, Harvard, Toledo) and two D-1 Baseball offers to date. He has verbally committed to play football at Harvard (D-1 FCS) this fall.
  4. Great to see a couple of other NKY players on this list. Conner Hempel and Chris Kelly both are very deserving of this honor, their talent and hard work definitely helped lead their respective teams to very successful seasons. Congrats to both for their high school careers and good luck moving forward.
  5. There is no such thing as a moral victory. The same person that coined that phrase has got to be the same person that came up with the participation trophy and "everybody is a winner" phrase. I didn't hear anyone congratulating any of the kids on a great moral victory after the game. These young men went into the game believing that they were going to win and didn't want to settle for anything less than winning a state championship. This obviously didn't happen, Ryle didn't reach their ultimate goal so they were completely disappointed... not happy with a "moral victory."
  6. Here is the link to the football site for Ryle, I am pretty sure that they will be streaming a live video feed. http://ryleraiderfootball.blogspot.com/
  7. It was definitely was a big hit but he was out for a few weeks after that, "Big #34" played the next week.
  8. It all starts at home, with parental guidance... or in this case, lack of...
  9. With your back to the Press Box, facing the field, the visitors sit to the right. Usually splitting the press box in half, the visitors take half of the seating. The stands on the other side of the field are OK but don't hold very many people.
  10. I don't know much about the "06 trash talk" but I don't think you will hear any of that this week; not Ryle's style this year.
  11. Yeah, it starts Friday night from 7pm-10pm and then all day Saturday. It will be crazy parking if you get there late; I would imagine if you are able to get there by 5:30 you should be fine(just a guess). There are quite a few fields around the schools also there are lots at Gray Middle and Mann Elementary, which are both on the Ryle campus. I would definitely look around and make sure that there is no possibility of getting blocked in, you could be there a while trying to get out.
  12. The show is about young men that are going to play at the next level(D1). If you would have paid attention at all, you would have noticed that they were interested in form, technique, ability to read coverages, arm strength, ability to learn, etc. I don't think that they were looking too much at their abiltiy to scramble, so that would eliminate some of the NKY QBs that you have on your list. As far as the coaches on the show, I'm pretty sure that they know what they are doing and this isn't their first rodeo... they may have recruited one or two kids before. They may not know as much as you, but they seem to be pretty good.
  13. A previous thread that you started, below.... Better to begin playoffs coming off a hard fought competitive game or an easy W? I hear lots of chatter on Simon Kenton not preparing themselves for the playoffs because they played Scott the last week of the regular season. It makes all the sense in the world to me that it would be better to enter into the playoffs well rested than to be coming off a very competitive and tiring game such as the Ryle vs Highlands game on Thursday. Personally I think that if a team hasn't found their identity and doesn't know what they need to do going into the last week of the season than that team has real issues. Simon Kenton enters into the playoffs feeling good regardless of whom they played, they put up 40+ points with their starters and then rested them for a whole half all while getting the replacements some valuable time. Thoughts??? _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ So, in the top post, you said that it is to your advantage to come into this game off of a tough hard fought win... it makes you battle tested and ready for war. You also started another thread, prior to the playoffs, titled "Better to begin playoffs coming off a hard fought competitive game or an easy W?" Your remarks are bolded above. You seem to be somewhat conflicted in your statements... And don't state the obvious that the two posts don't have anything to do with each other because we are already in the playoffs. So which is it, your first statement or your second... "Battle Tested or Well Rested"? They are completely opposite of one another...
  14. You are right, it is funny. You are hanging your hat on what you are saying a journalist wrote as opposed to the poll that the NKY Coaches put together.
  15. Interesting... So in the hard copy of the paper he says that he thinks that CCH is going to win but in the on-line version, he says that he expects Ryle to win? Totally makes sense.
  16. No he didn't, here is the quote: No. 3 Campbell County (6-5) at No. 1 Ryle (10-1) WHEN/WHERE: 7:30 p.m. today, 10379 U.S. 42, Union WHAT TO WATCH: Ryle has a knack for making big plays in the running game. The backfield trio of Travis Elliott, Conner Hempel and Deion Mullens is a tackle-breakin', daylight-runnin' unit. If the Camels defense doesn't wrap them up, the Raiders will make it pay. BOTTOM LINE: During the regular season Ryle edged Campbell County 35-30. Both teams have improved since then, but the Raiders seem to be hitting their stride. Expect them to win. As always, bad information!
  17. This thread is about Conner Hempel, not about the old... "our QB is better than your QB." It seems that a couple of you in Independence can't stand when others get some positive attention, somewhat jealous, it seems. Conner is a legitimate D1 quarterback, just ask the recruiters, I think they know quite a bit more about what to look for than you. He is a great young man and comes from one of the nicest and most classy families that I know. To get on here and talk about how much better your guy is than ours is a joke! By the way... I will take ours any day!!!
  18. We are well aware of the fact that Ryle has not won it all, there is much work to be done. Make no mistake, the people in Union don't want you to speak for us. You have been able to single handedly embarrass the people in Independence and at SK, I'm sure that they don't appreciate you speaking for them either.
  19. I guess that means that Trinity would dispose of HHS by two more points than Ryle?
  20. I really do think the Ryle program is headed in the right direction. You're right about the light numbers on the Frosh team, there were six 8th graders that started. They should be fine over the next several years at the Varsity level; however it will be a tall order to replace the talent that is in this year's senior class. Remember, this year's Soph class went undefeated in the regular season last year as Freshman.
  21. That's funny, calling us kids... I can't ever remember using "OMG." You have completely missed my point; I was merely stating that I don't understand why the JV staff felt it necessary to punch another one in at the end of the game when they were up by the margin that they were. HHS definitely outplayed Ryle and deserved the win, they have a very nice team. The HHS Varsity staff, players and fans have been nothing but first class after Thursday night... the complete opposite of today(by this, I mean the staff).
