  1. Not exactly what the message was... HHS is up 54-7 in the last couple of minutes in the game, the staff then decides to throw 3 times down field and go into a hurry up mode in order to score again at the end of the game when they could very easily have run the clock out. Not really sure what point the staff was trying to make.
  2. You are correct! Over the past four years, there has been four different playoff formats.
  3. Beleive it or not, that very thing happend a few years ago.
  4. You could very well be correct. Got that info earlier in the week but I'm not sure how accurate it is. I would be nice for the kids to play on a Friday night under the lights though... Nothing else like it at their age!
  5. If Cov Cath and Campbell County both end the season with one loss, they will play a playoff game. The winner of the playoff game will play HHS for the championship. From what I understand, the Frosh schedule has to be complete before the last regular season Varsity game from that school. Since HHS Varsity plays Ryle next Thursday night, the championship will have to played no later than next Wednesday.
  6. Quite a bit of discussion surrounding this over the past couple of years but the ImPACT test is what seems to be the most talked about. The below link may be a good place to start. http://www.impacttest.com/
  7. Interesting... watch the film, you might think differently.
  8. If you mean Elliott runninig through a few takcles and on the same play, pulling away and out running the fastest kid in Independence...Maybe??? There were several other plays that decided the game though, not just one and OT. I will admit that the play calling in OT by SK was surprising.
  9. He was there with some of the other Varsity players to support the Raider JV team in another win.
  10. Normally I would agree but from what I understand the reason for the timeouts was that the CCH coaches wanted to make sure that everyone got in the game. I am a Ryle supporter and fairly sure that this is accurate, it came from a pretty reliable source.
  11. Coaches agreed at half to play the "twos" for the entire second half... that is what happened. CCH did play their "ones" the first series on O and D in the second half, this was also discussed by both staffs before the start of the second half; I would imagine that this was done in order to get them work before playing HHS. The ones, for both teams, played special teams the entire game. I didn't get the impression that CCH tried to run the score up at all. If Ryle did a better job of tackling, it may not have been as one sided as it was. CCH has a very nice team; no "show boating" just took care of business.
  12. I'm really not sure how you got "people are bitter in Union," quite a few of us are happy with the direction of this program.
  13. Win or lose, in any game, you will never get an excuse out of Union. I think the question was, "Other than Elliot, what other starters migh Ryle have out Friday?" I think that you will find that we are all pretty tight lipped about injury and game predictions. Our kids prepare for the game that is in front of them; they didn't start thinking about SK until this morning... unlike you, who has worried about this game since the end of last season.
  14. Who do you think feeds the varsity program?
  15. Not true, at all. Likely these are the same kids that have been "all-stars" through their Frosh year and do not like playing behind better Jr. and Sr. players. The Soph kids that are doing the extra work in the weight room, on the track and eating right are the ones that are getting on the field on Friday nights and use Saturday mornings (JV games) to get better. If the kids aren't happy with their current situation, they have the ability to change it. Sorry... it isn't a sense of entitlement situation that some of the parents have set their sons up for. If you know one of these kids that is not happy with their current situation, you should tell him to look in the mirror and stop blaming the coaches for "Not Caring about JV."
  16. I find it interesting that quite a few of the posters are saying that Cov Cath played terribly, how dissappointed you were in their performance or you thought that they would have been further along in their rebuilding process by now. The same people were saying, before the game, how competive the Colonels were going to be in this match up. Maybe CCH is as improved as you thought but Ryle is just that good this year; who knows only time will tell, for both teams. Maybe more people should give Ryle some credit for how well they played and how talented they are this year.

  18. Seriously?... Maybe he didn't know about the party, wasn't invited, out of town or like you said, chose not to go. Who knows, but to say that "the Bluebird had his mind right," because he wasn't there, is a little over the top; don't you think? I am sure that he is a good kid but so is Tate; he and the others just got caught doing something that nearly all of us did in college.
  19. Not exactly sure of how accurate this is, but this was what I was told. The company that installed the turf was out of PA; they did not honor their contract of coming back to make general repairs, ie. re-stitching of numbers, hash marks etc. Ryle had originally held the balance of funds back from the first company for repairs and paid a new company to come in and do the repairs with the money that was held back from the original contractor. Again, I am not sure how accurate this is but it came from a pretty reliable source.
  20. OK... OK... I feel better now! It is all in good fun. Should be a fun game no matter who plays, there are some great kids on both teams.
  21. Ouch! "Armchair QB, Wannabe, Can't get over HS Career." I'm guessing you included me, since I am the one that opened up the question of Scholarship guys not playing. Interesting, I don't think I have ever been put in any of those categories; maybe a Has Been, Washed Up or Old and broken down (according to my sons). I played in this game, played D1(walk on) and currently donate hundreds of hours a year coaching young men at the high school level, so I think that I can legitimately raise the question. Of course the game is for the kids, who else would it be for? You are right again, it is their choice to play or not to play until Coach Kelly or Coach Phillips say no... Pretty sure Coach Kelly said no. Also, no one said that they weren't supporting the kids that are playing, just the opposite, it is an honor to be asked to play. We do agree on one point though, I also hope they have fun and come out injury free. "Hope the Highlands team wins"... Do they have their own team?
  22. Sure, you can get hurt getting out of bed... I don't think that you have a $50,000 a year college scholarship commitment that these young men have either, so it is easy for you to make that statement. It is an honor to be asked to play but just not worth it to actually play in the game if you have signed a scholarship commitment.
  23. Did you see him on your way to get your glasses prescription updated? I was a quite a few track meets this year, stood right next to him, and I would be surprised if he weighed any more than 165-170, it doesn't look like he has been in the weight room all year. I also saw him standing right next to Simpson, he is built nothing like him. He is extremely fast and wouldn't be surprised to see him receive more college track offers than football. He will definitely have to live by out running people outside because he definitely doesn't look like he has the build to take a pounding up the middle for an entire season.
  24. Maybe on grass but not on field turf; from what the kids and the shoe reps say, it is just the opposite.
