Coach Warfield out at Conner
100% agree!! Remember the good ole' days when the coach would coach and the players played? Ahh, and the parents.... they stayed out of it and had no influence? I hope this isn't the case, however...... Kind of reminds me of what happened at NCC and the influence of parents on the administration within the girls program.

Holmes 59 Dixie Heights 39
I am not a Dixie fan or follower and last night was the first time I have seen them play and heard twice last night (from seperate individuals in seperate conversations) this very same thing. Not that it is right or the truth, just what is circulating in some basketball circles.

Holmes/Boone County Predictions 3/6
:laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh: Very funny CCR, err, CovCathiRadio.... 1st quarter: Holmes - 20 Boone - 19 Final: Holmes - 37 Boone - 39 Does offensive explosion mean more than 40 points being scored? If so, then this game is just short of an offensive explosion. Let the midnight special..... shine a light on me....

Amen! I believe Boone 'looked' inside once with this matchup and then rotated the ball around the key. The first 5 times down the court in the second half, I would have exploited this matchup (especially with Pangallo having 3 fouls.) even if you have to force the ball inside to Montgomery. I thought the more the game went on the sloppier Boone played. Thank goodness the game wasn't 2 minutes longer!!! Giesler is a beast. It looked at times that Boone had no idea where he was on the court when NCC had the ball. There were times he was WIDE open. Once he got the ball down low (or even at the free throw line), he was extremely hard to stop. He is a very good, strong player! In my opinion, definitely a D1 prospect. If someone would have told me that Cooper Downs (3 big free throws) and McQuery (3 pointer) individually would have outscored Brown (0 points) and Montgomery (2 points) combined, I would have said no way Boone wins this game!! Montgomery did have a bunch of rebounds (I would guess 8 - 10).

Who is the best 6th man in the 9th Region?
Plus Brown is only averaging 12 1/2 minutes / game this year. Lately, he has been playing greater minutes. Heck, that is less than a half per game. I would put these stats up against any other 6th man around.

Who is the best 6th man in the 9th Region?
Agreed! :thumb: Points directly to coaching to me. :deadhorse: They both played JV last year (because of their Sophomore status) and IMO both deserved more playing time on varsity.

Who is the best 6th man in the 9th Region?
Good Point :thumb: Nice stats for the 6th man.... Boone's Leaders: Scoring 1 Mike Gabbard 9.6 pts / game 2 Trevan Brown 9.6 pts / game 3 Travis Montgomery 8.7 pts / game Rebounds 1 Travis Montgomery 5.6 rebs / game 2 Ronald Cotton 3.9 rebs / game 3 Trevan Brown 3.8 rebs / game 4 Andy Earls 3.4 rebs / game

And now he is the captain of the cheerleading team? Wow! :scared:

Newport Central Catholic / Boone County 3/4 Predictions
:thumb: Good point! :thumb: Another good point! :thumb: Third good point! As far as the JV kids comment goes. I agree, if these two QUIT at Thanksgiving or even Christmas (since I am sure they were frustrated then as well with the coaching style), it at least allows the TEAM to work with a new lineup, substitutions, experience, etc.. Yeah, quitting at the end of the season gets back at your coach alright, however, doesn't really endear yourself to your FORMER teammates and I'm sure friends!!!

Ryle 42 Newport Central Catholic 36
NCC outscored 17 - 5 in the 4th quarter? Was there any adjustments made / timeouts / plays called / etc. by the coaching staff in the 4th quarter for NCC?:idunno: Just curious, sounds like it was a good game.

Newport Central Catholic / Boone County 3/4 Predictions
:thumb::thumb: I could not agree more with you BD! I heard NCC was practicing at the Cintas Center in preperation for the 9th region tournament. That is a brilliant move by the coaching staff at NCC, especially since they depend on 3 point shooting so much. Should be a good game. IMO, probably the best opening round game of the tournament along with St. Henry / Cov. Cath.. Where are 'Fortheloveofthegame33' and 'Wildcatfan' at? Thoroughbred got your tongue?:idunno:

St. Henry / Covington Catholic 3/3 Predictions
I agree with this point. However, I just don't see them getting up and down the court in this one. Bigger court, atmosphere, regional game where each possession is so important, etc.. I do think if the score is in the mid 60's or higher, they win.
-
St. Henry / Covington Catholic 3/3 Predictions
Just don't call him CCR!!!! He gets defensive about that. This game could go either way, I'll take the Colonels because of their size! 56 - 52

Newport Central Catholic / Boone County 3/4 Predictions
I 100% agree. How could you trust or play them if you are McQueary? Who is to say they wouldn't 'quit' or 'leave' or 'not show up' again. I'm not a big fan of his style of play, etc., but he is the coach and has shown to be successful in coaching the Rebels. Even though we do not know the reason(s) as to why these boys 'left' the team (or were asked to leave) and I hate to pass judgement, however, at the end of the day, they are gone and they left friends, teammates and classmates behind. Heck, if I'm Cotton, Earls, Gabbard, Montgomery, Brown, etc., I wouldn't let them back. What is it.... Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice shame on me. Good Luck Rebels and clamp down on Pangallo and Giesler Thursday night and you should be in for a successful night.

9th Region Predictions?
Ryle over Newport Cov Cath over St. Henry Holmes over Dixie Heights Boone County over NCC Ryle over Cov. Cath. Boone over Holmes Boone over Ryle I think NCC will struggle at BOKC with the 3 point shot like an earlier poster pointed out. I think the Boone/Holmes game is a coin flip (ok, perhaps more than a coin flip on the Holmes side, but I am a Rebel fan) and I think Ryle has the easiest draw against St. Henry although I like Faust and how he seems to always have him teams 'over achieve' year in and year out. I believe Ryle/Cov. Cath. is a toss up game. That means round 4 for the Rebels and Raiders for the 9th region Championship Game. Hopefully, Ryle doesn't get off to the hot start like they did in the District Championship game and the Rebels prevail.

Newport Central Catholic / Boone County 3/4 Predictions
They were not in the box score for the District Championship game against Ryle Friday night. I don't recall seeing them on the bench either. Perhaps, Wildcatfan can chime in, he is close to the Boone program and seems to have a lot of knowledge of the situation. In my opinion, it's time to move on and go with what you have at this point!!!

Newport Central Catholic / Boone County 3/4 Predictions
I don't see Giesler getting that double-double in this game. I just think Boone can run so many big men at him they will wear him down and keep him off the boards. Can he shoot free throws? :idunno: I think you can give Pangallo the edge over Gabbard, however, I think Boone's bigs (the combination of them) gets the edge over Giesler. Who does NCC have that matches up with Cotton and Montgomery? It may come down to those players as to who wins this game.

Newport Central Catholic / Boone County 3/4 Predictions
Gabbard v. Pangallo Brown/Lay/Earls v. Giesler I believe these are the two key matchups in this first round game. Foul trouble may be the key in this game. Hard to tell if Boone has chalked up the season after the defection of two seniors. Hopefully, the rest of the seniors can bring this team together (Gabbard, Cotton, Earls). If they can't, it's going to be hard to overcome the Breds! I'll give this game a toss up and say it will be determined by foul trouble. Boone - 60 NCC - 59 Thinking with the heart on this one!

These teams are in and will be playing in the 9th Region Tournament @ the BOKC
I was just going through the regional qualified teams as it pertains to Boone. So far, going into tonights game with the Raiders, Boone hasn't fared to well against the 'other' 7 teams in the regional tournament.... Ryle > 2-0 (pending tonights Championship game) Holmes > 0 - 1 (OT Loss on Road) St. Henry > 0 - 1 (OT Loss on Road) NCC > 0 - 1 (1 pt. Loss at Home) Newport > 0 - 1 (big loss on Road) Dixie > 1 - 0 (big win at Home) Cov. Cath. > 1 - 0 (big win on Road) 4 - 4 heading into the Ryle game tonight. Could be 7 - 1 if things went their way (NCC, Holmes, St. Henry). Does anyone else have the other 7 teams head to head match ups?
