Holmes 59 Dixie Heights 39

Featured Replies

Final in the 1st round of the 9th Region.

The Bulldogs have started their campaign as the defending state champs and they looked very good tonight.

Ricardo Johnson and Elijah Pittman as well as J. Johnson were all fantastic.

The Big 3 should lead the Dogs to the Region title IMO.

Dixie got a nice game from Sr. Wes Smith who finished with 14 points.

Congrats to the Bulldogs.

Holmes blistered the nets from behind the arc 10 - 17 shooting .

Holmes- Pittman 15, R. Johnson 14, J. Johnson 9, Hayes 6, Herndon 6, Rice 4, Slusher 4, McClendon 3.

Dixie Heights- Smith 14, Hatton 8, Pike 8, P. Stansberry 5, Boone 2, Raleigh 2

3 Pointers: Holmes 10 (Pittman 3, R. Johnson 2, Herndon 2, Hayes, J. Johnson, McClendon) Dixie 2 (P. Stansberry, Smith)

Free throws:

Holmes- 5/11

Dixie- 1/3

I like the fact that Pike and Hatton shut down Pittman and Ricardo as someone stated they would do on the prediction thread. It looks like Hatton and Pike were too much for them to handle offensively as well. I guess the pressure got to them.

Both struggled all night.

Pike was a virtual non factor at both ends of the floor and was frustrated the entire night. He got called for an elbow when Holmes was coming down the floor after rebounding one of his missed shots.

Hatton had a few nice drives but simply could get anything up over the quicker, more athletic Holmes guards.

Smith was Dixie's best offensive player tonight with 14. He was too strong down low for Rice on several occasions but too slow defensively to defend Kevon when he'd drive to the basket.

Plain and simple Hatton was off tonight. I don't think it was the pressure of this particular game, I just think he had an off night. Wes Smith played well for Dixie. I don't think Dixie could have beaten anyone in the ninth region tonight the way they played. Congrats to Holmes for making it through the first round. Ricardo is a nice player all around, very enjoyable to watch.

Pike and Hatton didnt shut anyone down.

Holmes shot the lights out tonight. Let's see if they can do it 2 games in a row....hmmmm.

Holmes did what they did against CovCath in the District Finals the other night. They got a big lead in the first quarter and just coasted the rest of the way. Holmes shooting in the first quarter was very and I mean very, very impressive!

Sound like a holmes fan much, i'm sure you could get an autograph if you ask politely.

Hatton wasn't hitting his normal shots by any means tonight. I thought Pike played well he finished with 8 points and had about 10 rebounds. I think the game was going to be determined on whether or not holmes could knock down open looks, and they did just that.

Pittmans points came mainly from behind the arc and Rico, well idk if there is a defender in the region that can consisitantly stop him.

I think the Dixie ball club will have a very solid team next year and i think they have a shot at a regional title.

Pike had a couple of nice moves to the basket and we all know he is a very nice athlete but he is getting a reputation as being somewhat of a thug. I mean how many games does the kid get called for fouls away from the ball that involve elbows or a push?

Hatton is a very nice player and made some nice buckets tonight. I really like the way he controls his body when he drives and shoots. He was just off target and I saw it in warmups. He was short on everything he put up in warmups and it carried over to the game.

Both of these kids will need to carry the load next year along with the sophomore Stansberry if they want to contend. They play in a weak district so if they can win their District crown next year and get a nice draw in the REgional tournament then then they may be able to advance.

Don't forget that they'll hopefully have a healthy Trammel.

Pike lacks maturity on the floor/field. He gets frustrated very easily when things aren't going his way. Hopefully he'll grow out of this now that he's not the most dominant player on the floor/field.

The Dixie/St. Henry district is indeed weak....any chance redistricting will take place in the near future? By adding Conner and Highlands into the regional mix thisyear there would have been much better first round match ups, esp. if the region was seeded. Unfortunate three of the top four teams in the region were all on the Holmes side of the bracket.
