  1. NCC outscored 17 - 5 in the 4th quarter? Was there any adjustments made / timeouts / plays called / etc. by the coaching staff in the 4th quarter for NCC?:idunno: Just curious, sounds like it was a good game.
  2. :thumb::thumb: I could not agree more with you BD! I heard NCC was practicing at the Cintas Center in preperation for the 9th region tournament. That is a brilliant move by the coaching staff at NCC, especially since they depend on 3 point shooting so much. Should be a good game. IMO, probably the best opening round game of the tournament along with St. Henry / Cov. Cath.. Where are 'Fortheloveofthegame33' and 'Wildcatfan' at? Thoroughbred got your tongue?:idunno:
  3. I agree with this point. However, I just don't see them getting up and down the court in this one. Bigger court, atmosphere, regional game where each possession is so important, etc.. I do think if the score is in the mid 60's or higher, they win.
  4. Just don't call him CCR!!!! He gets defensive about that. This game could go either way, I'll take the Colonels because of their size! 56 - 52
  5. I 100% agree. How could you trust or play them if you are McQueary? Who is to say they wouldn't 'quit' or 'leave' or 'not show up' again. I'm not a big fan of his style of play, etc., but he is the coach and has shown to be successful in coaching the Rebels. Even though we do not know the reason(s) as to why these boys 'left' the team (or were asked to leave) and I hate to pass judgement, however, at the end of the day, they are gone and they left friends, teammates and classmates behind. Heck, if I'm Cotton, Earls, Gabbard, Montgomery, Brown, etc., I wouldn't let them back. What is it.... Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice shame on me. Good Luck Rebels and clamp down on Pangallo and Giesler Thursday night and you should be in for a successful night.
  6. Ryle over Newport Cov Cath over St. Henry Holmes over Dixie Heights Boone County over NCC Ryle over Cov. Cath. Boone over Holmes Boone over Ryle I think NCC will struggle at BOKC with the 3 point shot like an earlier poster pointed out. I think the Boone/Holmes game is a coin flip (ok, perhaps more than a coin flip on the Holmes side, but I am a Rebel fan) and I think Ryle has the easiest draw against St. Henry although I like Faust and how he seems to always have him teams 'over achieve' year in and year out. I believe Ryle/Cov. Cath. is a toss up game. That means round 4 for the Rebels and Raiders for the 9th region Championship Game. Hopefully, Ryle doesn't get off to the hot start like they did in the District Championship game and the Rebels prevail.
  7. They were not in the box score for the District Championship game against Ryle Friday night. I don't recall seeing them on the bench either. Perhaps, Wildcatfan can chime in, he is close to the Boone program and seems to have a lot of knowledge of the situation. In my opinion, it's time to move on and go with what you have at this point!!!
  8. LOL. So was Joe Nuxhall and everyone loved him for it!!!! Great article and MUCH deserved recognition for Marks' efforts!!!! Keep up the great work Mark and crew!!!:notworthy:
  9. I don't see Giesler getting that double-double in this game. I just think Boone can run so many big men at him they will wear him down and keep him off the boards. Can he shoot free throws? :idunno: I think you can give Pangallo the edge over Gabbard, however, I think Boone's bigs (the combination of them) gets the edge over Giesler. Who does NCC have that matches up with Cotton and Montgomery? It may come down to those players as to who wins this game.
  10. Gabbard v. Pangallo Brown/Lay/Earls v. Giesler I believe these are the two key matchups in this first round game. Foul trouble may be the key in this game. Hard to tell if Boone has chalked up the season after the defection of two seniors. Hopefully, the rest of the seniors can bring this team together (Gabbard, Cotton, Earls). If they can't, it's going to be hard to overcome the Breds! I'll give this game a toss up and say it will be determined by foul trouble. Boone - 60 NCC - 59 Thinking with the heart on this one!
  11. I was just going through the regional qualified teams as it pertains to Boone. So far, going into tonights game with the Raiders, Boone hasn't fared to well against the 'other' 7 teams in the regional tournament.... Ryle > 2-0 (pending tonights Championship game) Holmes > 0 - 1 (OT Loss on Road) St. Henry > 0 - 1 (OT Loss on Road) NCC > 0 - 1 (1 pt. Loss at Home) Newport > 0 - 1 (big loss on Road) Dixie > 1 - 0 (big win at Home) Cov. Cath. > 1 - 0 (big win on Road) 4 - 4 heading into the Ryle game tonight. Could be 7 - 1 if things went their way (NCC, Holmes, St. Henry). Does anyone else have the other 7 teams head to head match ups?
  12. Can the Rebels beat the Raiders for a third time this year? I say they can, although, this seems to be a different Rebel team from the prior two meetings and Ryle will be on their home court. Rebels - 59 Raiders - 55
  13. Not only did they not play, they weren't on the bench and I don't think they were even at the game. It's a shame...... Time to move on and focus on the Ryle game now.
  14. I flipped a coin 100 hundred times and the results were 50/50. Did I really have to flip it 100 times to come up with that? LOL. So, at the end of regulation, the score will be tied 50 - 50. I flpped it 5 more times and it came up NCC (4 - 1). So, I will go with NCC 54 - 51 in OT.
  15. I agree. Or, I would at least have to do a double take and question if I really want to take the 'chance' that he would do the same thing in college, that is to QUIT on his team(mates). That is what it is looking like what happened in this case from the outside. However, like it was also pointed out, we DO NOT know the whole story so we shouldn't pass judgment as to the reasons why he/they are no longer on the team. Anyway, Good Luck to the Rebels over the next couple of weeks!!!
  16. Does anyone have a boxscore for this game? NCC v. Highlands tomorrow at 6pm in semis?
  17. :thumb::thumb: Good point! This will be the difference I believe in this one. Low scoring, beat each other up, physical game. Ryle 44 Conner 40
  18. Does Dayton have anyone that can stop Giesler? If not, NCC rolls..... 60 - 45.
  19. Senior night in Florence..... After reading the Dixie / Cooper thread, and Dixie coming out flat footed on Sr. Night, I'm hoping that doesn't grab the Rebels too!!! It doesn't look like Tramel played against the Jags (or, he didn't score based on the box score). Is he expected to play tonight? I'll take the Rebels bouncing back from the Holmes loss!!! Boone - 67 Dixie - 54
  20.:clap: And I am somewhat a NCC fan so we are both to blame!!! :thumb: Good stuff!!!
  21. I agree with you on the talent part with Holmes' top three players, compared to the rest of the 9th region. However, if you go with the top 7 players, I like Boones' talent. The question is does Holmes' top three provide that much of a gap compared to Boones' top 7. In my opinion, that is where the 'toss up' comes in. That's why the games they play against each other could go either way. Hence, Wednesday's game going to OT. I also think that with the style of offense that both teams run, keeps the games close and causes wins and losses to come down to possible missed shots at the end which could cause the games to go either way. Hopefully, they do meet again in the regional final at the BoK Center, last year's game was a classic!!! Perhaps, this year though the layup goes in for the Rebels!! With all that being said, both teams are good and the games they play against each other could go either way. Hence, my point that Holmes isn't 'much better' than Boone. That's all I am trying to say.
  22. Great post and analysis!!!:thumb: I agree with almost everything you put in the post. The only game I differ with is the NCC/Highlands game. I think with Grubbs out NCC pulls out the victory in a close one. However, I agree it will be a battle. I'll just go with NCC.
