1. I thought the talk was that Montgomery was 'next in line' to replace (I know you can't 'replace' McFarland....). I'm surprised you think Brown will get more playing time than Montgomery. IMO, it seems Montgomery's game is more closely related to what they are losing in McFarland than Brown's game. Thoughts? Montgomery and McFarland are both drivers/slashers with a nice jump shot (I actually believe Montgomery's jump shot and range is better than McFarlands) whereas Brown is strictly a down low player. I would have to give Montgomery the 5th spot over Brown and Lay, but I agree that all three will see plenty of action. It's a long season and I am sure the coach will play with the lineup throughout the early part of the season to see what combinations work best together.
2. NDA v. St. Henry @ 6pm Scott v. Ryle @ 7:30pm Predictions? I know it's tough to beat a good team three times in a season but that is what NDA will be attempting to do tonight against the Cru. Question... Would you rather be the team that won the first two matches or the team that has lost the first two matches? IMO, I believe you want to be the team that has won the first two matches. NDA v. St. Henry I look for this game to be very close and going three. The first two matches were like that and I look for the same thing again. I look for NDA's seniors to carry the night with their leadership, poise, experience. We'll see. Scott v. Ryle All you need to do is win and advance at this point and that is what the favorite Scott team did against Beechwood. I would look for the same thing tonight against Ryle with Scott winning in two (18 and 16).
3. Anyway, getting back on topic...... Congratulations LESLIE on a great year and career at Notre Dame. This is a well deserved honor for you and couldn't go to a better person and a wonderful volleyball player!!! You should be very proud of yourself!!! I know the rest of PANDA NATION is!!!!
4. Ahhhhh, St. Henry shouldn't have any problem with Cooper!!!!
5. Congratulations Natalie!!! This is a well deserved award!!!! You are a truly gifted volleyball player!!! Good luck at regionals and hopefully at state for you and Campbell Co.!!!
6. Well said VBMOM!!!!! :thumb::thumb: Congratulations Leslie!!!!! I don't know who the runner up was in the 9th region or if they do co-POY's, however, Jamie Wulfeck had to be right there with Leslie. Both had incredible years and careers at NDA!!! I also agree with Bredwinner that the coach of the year should take place after regionals... Not to be a total NDA homer :isurrender:, however, what about some love for Andrea Lanham for Coach of the Year? I know she had a lot of talent coming back but I thought she managed it well and I don't think her team lost to a Northern Kentucky school. If you check out NDA's losses this year they are all from nationally ranked teams. Plus, she did coach NDA to wins over Sacred Heart and Mercy. Anyway, hats off to her as well!!!
7. In case anyone was interested in game times..... NDA v. Holy Cross Tuesday at 6pm St. Henry v. Cooper Tueday (after NDA v. HC match) The semi final games will be Thursday - assuming everything goes according to script.... NDA v. St. Henry @ 6pm Scott/Beechwood winner v. Ryle/Villa winner (after NDA v. St. Henry match) Saturday @ 7pm - FINALS Does anyone know how the draw takes place? Is it done in front of the coaches/AD's? I guess their is no seeding of the top 4 teams???? Seems to me #1 and #2 are on one side of the bracket and #3 and #4 are on the other side.....
8. (9-25, 25-22, 26-28, 26-24, 15-9) Wow, what happened that first game? Looks like a great match!!
9. I heard one of the Assumption girls is going to the University of Alabama but I do not have their name or any information about her or the other girls for Assumption. I did see the UC head coach at the game last night. I believe they are interested in #19 from Assumption. Also, I believe the NKU coach was in attendance as well. For NDA, Schellhaas is going to Morehead State University, Ebner is going to Quincy (same conference as NKU).
10. Nice article in the paper. http://nky.cincinnati.com/article/AB/20091007/SPT/910080377/Rockets+squash+Pandas Assumption dominated from the beginning. I bet the coach for Assumption wants to play NDA again for the state championship!!!
11. #1 Assumption v. #2 NDA on Wednesday... Assumption coming off winning the Asics Championship in Chicago over the weekend. Notre Dame coming off an average performance in Chicago (12th out of 24 teams) but a monster last couple of weeks (2 victories over St. Henry and back to back wins over Sacred Heart and Louisville Mercy). Should be an exciting Senior night in Park Hills tomorrow... Predictions???
12. They could have used him it looks like for inspiration to get over the hump in the third game.....
13. And they go for the Louisville sweep next Wednesday with a home match against #1 Assumption on Senior night. Nice, tough schedule NDA..... Sacred Heart, Mercy, ASICS Tournament in Chicago, Assumption, right in a row, WOW!!! This, after coming off the 'Play for a Purpose' match against a very good St. Henry squad and the Cincinnati Mercy Tournament where they played a tough Dublin Coffman (ranked #9 Nationally) and St. Henry for a second time.:ylsuper:
14. Nice win for NDA!! Is the article on line somewhere? I couldn't find it. Can you post the link? Big games coming up for the Pandas (Thursday - Mercy, Next Wednesday - Assumption) I believe Mercy and Sacred Heart split their games this year (Sacred Heart won in 5 games and Mercy won in 3 in best of 3). This should set up a great game for Thursday!!!!
15. I didn't think it would be possible to sellout Thomas More College, however, they did. I was told they were not allowing anyone in without a ticket stub showing you were already in the gym prior to the varsity game starting. The place was simply packed. Great decision to move the game to TMC, it was perfect! Nice touch with the pregame festivities: speakers, baskets, raffles, the prayer that was read by the NDA player (Schellhaas), etc.. Job well done by all that were involved. As for the game, I thought both teams played very well, the first two games could have gone either way, I feel the NDA senior leadership was the difference in those games, when points were needed, NDA really relied on them and they came through. It's a shame both teams won't be able to compete in the state tournament. They are both top 6 teams in the state, in my opinion. Both teams are in the Fall Classic this weekend at Cincinnati Mercy, so they may meet again this weekend. Does anyone know or have anything with regard to this tournament (teams, times, brackets)?
16. I agree with TOG, even though St. Henry took one on the chin last night (2-1 to NDA), there is a reason they are so highly ranked in the state. They are a very good team with some excellent players! I like the Cru winning the All A State Championship!!!
17. Nice win NCC!!! The NDA v. St. Henry game is 3 out of 5 from what I've been told..... You are like the magic 8 ball!!!!!! Please don't say 'Hazy now, try again later!!!' I always hated that one!!!!!
18. Cause = $10 (Breast Cancer Shirt):thumb::thumb::thumb: Atmosphere = $7 (Ticket @ TMC):banana::banana: Seeing top 2 NKY Volleyball teams = Priceless!!! :dancingpa:dancingpa Isn't that how the commercial goes? Should be a great night!!!! Good luck to both teams, just a bit more luck to the paNDA's!
19. The game Thursday is for the Breast Cancer Awareness campaign again (great idea!!). If you would like to purchase t-shirts for the game, they are $10 and you can still get them at Notre Dame Academy. I know they ran out of sizes last year so you can stop by the school and purchase the shirts. I believe what ever shirts they have left over will be brought to TMC Thursday for sale as well. It should be a festival atmosphere at TMC and I'm sure both teams will be excited to play with all the noise, fanfare, etc.. After looking at the common opponents (I know that doesn't paint the full picture), I would have to give the edge to the Pandas. I'll say 3-1 Pandas. Their senior leadership will be to strong in the end (just my opinion). As for the soccer game on Wednesday night, I think it is a flip of the coin on which way that one goes. I'll give St. Henry the home field advantage and say the score will be 1 - 0, with the freshman from St. Henry (Leedom) scoring in the last 3 minutes of regulation to win it. Both goalies will have an incredible game and my prediction is the teams will be again in the playoffs (I know, I'm way out on that ledge on this prediction).
20. #1 Notre Dame v. #2 St. Henry Is it to early to begin talking about this match that will take place next Thursday 9/24 at TMC? We are T minus 9 days and counting..... (of course, both teams have a couple of games between now and then)... However, it all begins tonight with the freshman game at St. Henry. I believe that game starts at 6pm. Any thoughts on the freshman game tonight or the JV and Varsity matches next week?
21. The loss to St. Ursula (OH) was a bit of a surprise since NDA beat them three straight at NDA earlier in the week. NDA played well against St. Joe's (MO) in the first game and then the second and third games, as you can tell by the scores, could have gone either way. Agreed, NDA did have a nice weekend and should continue to have a solid year.
22. Thanks Z!!:notworthy: A little hard to read but better than what we had before. :thumb: Sorry for the typo in the thread title. :ohbrother: I copied it from KyTmcNcc in another thread, so I blame him!:sssh:
