How do you see it shaking out this season? What would be your top ten? Are many NKY teams competing at the Bluegrass Games this year?

From what I remember, and my memory isn't too good, its going to be a rebuilding year for many schools that usually fall into most peoples top ten. Campbell County (region 10) had a lot of young talent last year. NCC, Ryle, and St Henry all lost some key seniors.

9th Region - Like usual, NDA and St. Henry will be at the top. Don't count Scott out. They will have a strong offense. It will be interesting to see how much they have improved from last year. They have nearly all their players back. Three very strong hitters in O'Conner, Tibbs and Romito, and their setter improved a lot which should help their offense.

10th Region - The region will be between Highlands, Campbell County and Newport Central Catholic. Bishop Brossart would likely be #4 in the region. Highlands and Campbell County have nearly all starters returning. NCC lost a lot due to graduation, but have some young talent.

9th: I'll go about 5 or 6 after that it really is a tough to call.

I almost would put NDA and St Henry as even but will give a slight edge to NDA for now being the defending champ. Although having a veteran coach at St Henry could be the big difference in the end.

In 10th

I have Campbell Co and Highlands in a dead heat for 1st. HHS has almost their entire team back but CC returns alot too and has one of the best young coaches in N KY. NCC 3rd and Brossart 4TH. NCC has some rebuilding to do but don't totally count them out either.

Scott is going to be tough this year. If they work on their defense, they will be tough to beat. Im going with St. Henry as my top choice in the 9th followed with NDA, Scott, and Boone.

 

IMO Highlands is going to have a hard time replacing Pelgen on the outside. I never count NCC out. They always seem to rebuild. My vote however is on Campbell County.

Does SHDHS return a lot from last year as far as players who played a lot?

St Henry lost several very good players. I don't think they will be very deep this year but Coach Kaiser always gets the most out of her players.

Notre Dame is the clear-cut favorite in the 9th. Leslie Schelhaus. Jamie Wulfolk and Morgan Ebner will bring the leadership the Pandas need. Two big losses for NDA are setter Jenna Schriver(graduated) and Ashley Robinson(ACL). They should have enough to make it back to state. St Henry will be good with Erin Fortner, Caela Flood and Taryn Ward, but will they have enough fire power to take the region? Time will tell.

The 10th will be up for grabs. Campbell, Highlands and NCC will fight it out in October for the crown. Too close to call on this one.

Harrison Co. has almost everybody back from a region semi team. Could push for the 4th spot, but looks like the big 3 again. Pendleton could surprise some people as well.

After last year's turmoil and a very disappointing season, Beechwood has put together a good team. I think the lady Tigers are going to bounce back and have a really good season.

 

I have to agree that NDA will start and end as number one.

Pretty solid list carguy.

HC's soph. is Jaden Jillian. HC lost their setter, Tori Verville, and outside hitter, Karly Reid to graduation. Might be a rebuilding year for the Indians, but, Jaden is the real deal!

 

Beechwood will rely heavily on Robin Hood. Sophmore setter, Kyra Spahn, could help get her a lot of kills both from front row and back row attacks.

 

Simon Kenton could be a big surprise this year depending on how they adjust to their new coach.

 

Scott will have Lauren O'Conner in the middle. Their offense will run through her and the other middle(I forget her name).

 

Just like every year, defense is the key to winning championships. That why I think Notre Dame will be the heavy favorite. Libero, Leslie Schellhaas, is the best at her position in all of Northern Ky.

 

St Henry will have to figure out who their setters will be. Erin Fortner, Cayla Flood, and Stephanie Gurren will be competing for the job. If they run a 6-2 with Flood and Gurren then they will have to run a rotation defense because Gurren puts up a small block on the right side. If it is Flood and Fortner, then they can run a perimiter D. Coach Kaiser will figure it out for sure. She always does. They have 3 nice freshman coming in with Rachel Fortner, Abby Bessler, and Abby Scherrer.

I heard over the spring that Ryle had a pretty strong hitter transferring in out of Atlanta. She played for a respectible club down that way named Tsunami.
