Who are the favorites ? Can NCC repeat under new head coach Vicki Fleissner ?

Favorites are Highlands and Campbell Co.

NCC has a lot of rebuilding to do but I wouldn't totally count them out of the running. Depends on how they grow during the season.

I agree, I think it will be between HHS and CCHS with NCC in a rebuilding year but still a close 3rd. If pressed I'd give the edge to Campbell Co due to coaching. Coach Ballinger will get the most out of her players.

Although Campbell County and Highlands may look at this year as a chance to get back to the top, I think anyone that discounts NCC will be surprised. They did lose quite a bit of talent but return a very strong core of players and sophomore Taylor Snyder will likely be the best player in the region. I would give them the early nod as favorite.

I am thinking Campbell, NCC, Brossart and Highlands in that order but weakest 10th has been in a long time. Notre Dame in a romp in the 9th.

If Coach Fleissner can develop a second setter to allow Taylor Snyder to hit, then watch out. Offensively, they have Elizabeth Gruenschlaeger and Maggie O'Day. Defensively, they will be fast. Trisha Taylor, Allison Corry, Sarah Suedkamp, and newcomer, Maria Froendhoff will share the DS and libero duties.

Highlands will have an expirienced setter in Jenna Theisen. We will see if the Birds will respond positively to new head coach, Whitney Edwards' fire and passion she brings to the team.

Campbell County has a great core from last years team. They will definately be lead by Natalie Penrod.

Look for a dog fight in the 10th.

1)Highlands

2)NCC

3)Campbell

4)Brossart

5-10 pick em

Considering NCC's three game victory over Campbell Co. last night I would say that you are very prescient .

Taylor Snyder is so fun to watch. I too agree that she could likely be the best player in the region. My vote is still that Campbell County will pull it off, but NCC will be a close second.

NCC is very young and prone to errors. I think as the season wears on, they will mature and improve. By season's end I expect that they will be the team to beat in the 10th. Campbell County will be a very tough challenge but I think it will be a two horse race. Or one horse and one camel if you please.

For a while last night they were extremely young

Both teams made costly errors at different points in the match, but looked good for this early in the season. I bet we will see two more experienced teams by October. It should be fun to watch.
