Warning: Patting one's self on the back to follow.

I said during the summer that T Wellbrock would have a strong senior campaign. Without quoting folks, I was told he'll never score more than 4 per game and he could not be counted on. 17/17 tonight. 15 boards against Ryle. Great leadership.

I also said that Stephen Wilson looked to be playing summer ball with new confidence. 12 tonight with no TOs.

Highlight of the night was Michael Robinson nailing 2 big 3s at critical junctures in the game. Could not be happier for the young man. Tough year for him and his family. Good to see him come up big.

Stat line won't show it but Alex Connelly's defensive abilities contributed a lot tonight. Great athlete to put out front.

How does Covcath lose to St. Henry but beat both Ryle and Conner? I think this team has the potential to be a top 5 team but simply lack the consistency right now.

Sounds like Wellbrock has really improved since last year. 17/17 is very impressive by the young man, especially considering Conner has a solid front court with Hodges and Robinson.

Congrats Colonels on the W.

My MVP of the game though was Senior Michael Robinson who came off the bench and drained two three point shots in two attempts tonight!

CCH tied for first in the 33rd.

CovCath and Conner played back and forth in the first quarter with Conner taking a one point lead 15-14 at the end of the quarter.

The second quarter saw Conner pull away at one point (2:37 on the clock) by as many as 12 points but CovCath fought back to end the 1st half down by 8 32/24 Conner.

CovCath as they have done all this season so far came out hot starting the third quarter and tied the game at 32 when Wilson hit a trey with 5:36 on the clock. Conner however didn't quit and started to again pull away from the Colonels again leading by as many as four until Wellbrock and Robinson hit a basket and a trey to put the Colonels up by a score of 41/38 at the end of three quarters.

The fourth quarter found CovCath pulling away from Conner and the Colonels leading by as many as 12 points with only 2:48 left in the game but the Cougars came storming back strong. With 1:27 left in the game Conner got back to within two points 53/51 CovCath and 55/53 with just 1:02 left in the game but then Thelen scored as did Pauly to end the game with CovCath taking home the victory by a score of 59-53.

There were 15 lead changes in this game and 4 ties.

I knew nothing of the young man prior to the Sorrell scrimmage. After watching him for less than a quarter I cam away very impressed with his leaping ability and his motor. 17/17 would have been a good Senior season for myself.

Wellbrock has always been a very athletic player for his size. I think the biggest thing he lacked was the confidence. Now that he's playing with a bit of a swagger, he is dominating down low.

CovCath is now 3-3 and plays Louisville St. Xavier @ CovCath on Friday 12/18!

Trevor has always been his own worst enemy, but honestly and I know some are going to laugh at this but his leading the CovCath Crazies in cheers at this years football and soccer game, I really think helped him find that he could be a leader.

I ask Trevor this question at the practice I attended prior to the start of the season: Trevor did you ever quit on the football team or the Soccer team when leading the Crazies in cheering and of course he told me no that he cheered and kept the Crazies cheering throughout the games. I then told him, then why quit on yourself! Don't quit or get down on yourself, keep your head up and just keep giving it your best! Do for yourself what you did for the other CovCath teams and players.
