The roller coaster that is St. Henry's season continues. Big win for the Crusaders over a very good ball club.

Very poor game for Boone. Poor FT shooting. They were up 7 with 3 minutes left and lost it after leading the entire second half. Victimized by a deep 3 at the buzzer. Too many turnovers too. Boone is reeling. Earls only played 1 minute, and Lay only played a couple. Boone is having trouble getting out of the 50s scoring wise this year, which makes them more vulnerable. Defense alone can't win games. Second tough loss in a row at an away game. St. Henry student section was very loud and helped their team. Same type of upset occurred at St. Henry a couple of years ago in a similar way. Boone needs to put this behind them. On the positive side, this does not hurt Boone's district standings.

Coach Faust does what Coach Faust does, he gets more out of players than anyone I've seen in a while. One of St. Henry's best players Bennie Bessler fouls out with a few to go in regulation down about 7 and the guards for St. Henry gave Boone fits causing TO's and hitting threes late. They play without Bessler the entire overtime as well and they still pull out the win. If you stayed home, you missed a great atmosphere, not a well played game, but off the charts exciting. Made me feel a whole lot better about the CovCath loss to St. Henry. Same type of game with the free throws down the stretch as well. Upset of the year.

Boone should have fouled on the floor before the 3 was shot at the end of regulation. Might have prevented OT at all.

 

Free throw shooting by Boone was horrible, I bet they didn't shot 40% from the line. Popp fouling out in the middle of the 4th didn't help them either. T. Brown had about 20 and I believe Popp followed him with about 12. A few of the St. Henry players had about 15, #22 and #24. I think it was #3 or #5 that hit several free throws in OT to seal the deal.

 

It was not a well played game, but a lot of energy from the fans both ways, particularly yelling about the calls from the ref's, it was sort of entertaining.

Heading in to this season I didn't think Boone would be anywhere close to as good as they were last year but I definetly didn't expect them to lose a game like this.

The Cru throw their hat in the ring as a 9th Region "A" contender next week.

 

No surprise. Dave Faust coached teams are always contenders in the "A" and in the post-season.

 

This one won't sit well with the Boone faithful.

Popp fouled out in the OT period, not the middle of the 4th. Also, I think everyone here is not taking into consideration that Earls has missed two games in a row and Boone lost them both. Earls is one of the top players in the 9th (according to the BGP polls), and would be missed by any team. Nice win by St. Henry, but Boone will be just fine with their full complement of players IMO.

Very nice win for St.Henry. The crowd was fun, the wave was great. Both teams played very hard. Balance scoring by St.Henry is nice to see also. Boone has talented guards but they did not shoot from the outside I think Gabbard took only 2 shots the whole game big time player he has to get more looks. Now the question to think about for St. Henry fans and people who saw the game. If Ben Bessler does not foul out does Carroll get off the pine to bring them back in the last 1:30 and in overtime or does he sit ? If he sits is there a different ending to this game? Maybe? Maybe not, the refs made some calls on both sides of the ball that left you thinking what game were they watching,but luckly none of them changed the game. Or did a foul call actually make the difference in the game. Fun game to watch big upset yes. Congrats to the CRU

I believe Popp fouled out as OT began. Bessler for St. Henry fouled out in the 4th. Agree that although not well played, it was an exciting game.

Did Mikey Gabbard get in foul trouble or get hurt, why only 3 points? It's OK in a win but certainly not in a loss. He's too talented of a player.
