  1. From what I've heard and read Beechwood has a very solid team this year, but there is A LOT of basketball yet to be played and a 15 point loss, no matter the caliber of oponent, doesn't really seem like a reason to enter the top 10. Good luck to the Tigers, as I am sure they will win a lot of games this year, but I would like to see a couple of those wins before people start talking about winning their division and being considered a top 10 team.
  2. Hats off to Holy Cross on the win. They are a disciplined team on both ends of the court and had a great shooting night from behind the arc and from the FT line. They got a lot of open looks from deep off of their dribble kick offense and #5 can flat out shoot the ball. Dayton had a rough shooting night (especially from the FT line), but I wouldn't expect that to continue. This team has a lot of good shooters who's shots just weren't falling in this one. IMO, on an average shooting night the Greendevils win this one.
  3. It was actually in the district tournament, but yes, Dayton gave Newport a very good game, leading until the final minutes.
  4. I agree wholeheartedly, but I would just rather see a statement like that be kept to one's self as it can easily be taken out of context. I have witnessed the hard work that Coach Dilts puts into his program to try and rid it of these kinds of assumptions and I tend to get a little touchy when these kids are branded a certain way, without merrit, because of past teams and players. With all that said, I too am looking for a good season from Dayton (granted they keep their heads )
  5. I have a bit of a problem with this...you see a kid play a couple basketball games and you have the authority to label him a head case? I don't think you meant anything malicious by it, but if you don't KNOW a kid personally, you really don't know anything about them except for the way they play the game. And as far as Dayton keepinig their heads? I think that would be a fair statement to say about any team (although it seems to be reserved for Dayton). You have a bunch of teenagers playing a very passionate, physical game, so every team in the state has to keep their heads to be successful.
  6. I agree that Bryan has to be the front runner, but given the way the votes have went the last couple years I wouldn't write him in just yet. I look for Cody Turner from Dayton to get some real consideration.
  7. No, but last year's team comes back fully in tact
  8. His last name is Luther, not sure of his first but I'm pretty sure it's not Arkansas.
  9. I've seen him play quite a few times so far this summer and I have yet to see an opposing team slow him down. One of the best players I've seen this summer
  10. I would throw Brandon Tucker-Newport and Cody Turner-Dayton into the discussion.
  11. I know that Dayton played Elliot Co today at 3 @ SOAS and play again tonight at 7. They also play at 12, 2 and 5 tomorrow.
  12. This couldn't be further from the truth...Even though there is no truth to the rumor, IMO there is no doubt that he could crack the 8/9 man rotation for the Bulldogs. Not saying he would come in and start, but equipment manager...get serious man
  13. First thing would be to hire a coach
  14. Great job Devils and good luck against Bellevue. Sounds like a pretty young team is starting to mature.
  15. Congrats to the devils...Where did all the runs come from?
  16. Where does that leave Dayton? Against Bellevue? Are the teams the same as in basketball?
  17. I think that will depend on the developement of some of the jv players from Beechwood. The players they are losing IMO will be very hard to replace, but Beechwood does seem to have some talent on the lower levels. If that talent developes I think that Beechwood will be pretty good but I still believe Dayton will be the better team with or without the transfers IMO.
  18. Dont want it to be Ford, but it looks like it will be. Hopefully Donovan does like numerous coaches before him and says he's not leaving only to bolt days/hours later
  19. I agree with this...Central's zone defenses comfused Eastern and Homes, but I don't think you can play those against the shooters of Elliot Co. Central would definitely have a strength advantage, but I don't think it would matter too much because of the way Elliot defends the post...guards root very well, any back to the basket game would have to be very quick and IMO Patterson or Wilson wouldn't have much success facing up against Knipp's length
  20. I thought that Justice's acting job earned that one. Can't say it was truly intentional, but the kid did a great job of selling it in front of the official.
  21. I'll be there, but got to leave before the championship.
  22. I was rsponding to another post, I didn't even see yours. I do agree that he did a good job on him no doubt.
  23. 100% on the money. There were several possesions where BC players didn't even LOOK at the rim because Holmes is so active around the ball.
