Really? Playing a top 3 team in the state in the region finals has no bearing on whether you make it to state or not?

Congrats on the trip to diddle! It was well earned. This year's SK team was the class of the 8th region and deserved to go. That being said, they are not as good as last year's SK team (which would have had to defeat a top 3 team in the state to advance to diddle).

I think the two teams (Marion of 2 years ago) and Etown (now) are in the same class. If they could play each other, it would probably be a great game.

Going or not going to the state tournament doesn't make one team better or worse....the path to get to that tournament changes every year. But I agree with your statement, there is no reason to compare the two teams.

The 8th isn't as top heavy this year...Neither Simon or Shelby are as good as Anderson (or Simon) have been the last two years. While they are the two prohibitive favorites, it wouldn't be crazy to think the the winner of Anderson/WV could beat one of them in that championship game.

I, for one, have no issue with the All-A tournament. The winner should claim a "state title." Is it as prestigious as the overall KHSAA state champion? Of course not! But that doesn't mean that the title doesn't matter to these schools. Also, you can't compare classes in football to classes in basketball. 11 players play at one time in football...only 5 in basketball. Much easier for a smaller school to compete on the hardwood then the gridiron.

It sounds to me like this argument should be guided towards "Should private schools be allowed to compete in the All-A" Of those really dominate A school teams in the past, how many of them have been public schools?

Maci is an outstanding player, but I think their are several contenders for the award.

Alexis Brewer is a high D1 basketball player and would be one of, if not the best, player on any basketball team in the state. To think she wouldn't fit in from a basketball standpoint is ridiculous.

I liked them a whole lot more before Thomas hurt her knee...still think they have a chance but it's obvious she's not at 100%

10 years ago I would have agreed with this point of view. You have to learn to appreciate the girls game for what it is. Once you get to know the teams/players the game becomes much more enjoyable to watch. The casual fan will probably never become a huge fan of the girls game, but talk with several people who follow both and they'll tell you they enjoy watching the ladies play too.

if the crowd is anything like last years final at North Oldham, Grant will have to turn people away. Obviously their facility meets whatever requirements are necessary to host a regional tournament, but it certainly seems to be too small of a gym to hold a regional tournament to me.

well played game...give credit to Walton for not folding when Anderson went up big on them in the 2nd quarter. In the end, Anderson just had too much fire power and experience. Walton might come out as the early favorite in a very balanced 8th region next year...
